144,000....literally?
Is the number of 144,000 a literal number of souls, or are they a special class of souls amoung the multitudes of souls to be in Heaven? After the flood, only 8 people survived that one....
...and is it good enough for us to not strive to BE one of the 144,000, but to just barely get inside the gates of Heaven? I heard a preacher one Sabbath say: " I don't care if I'm not a part of the 144,000, I just wanna get in" He may have been exhorting his sense of humor, but the desception is present in his statement. Often, satan will wrap his desceptions in humor, to get them past our inner securities, and we readily accept them while we laugh at them, all the while, not realizing that we've just been duped!
So, are we, or are we not to strive to be one of the 144,000 ???

Who do you believe will give the Loud cry? and what is the purpose of the loud cry?

Reasoning the SOP says the church, she did not give eny particular group.
What I believe is that when Jesus come in the cloud of glory, the living saint will be 144.000! No addeshonal living group of people.

I believe, as well as others, one being Doug B. from Amazing facts.. so don't think I'm a nut case here.. the belief is, the 144,000 are the main people, the first fruits who goes out with the power of the latter rain and proclaim the loud cry and gather in those from the fallen churchs and the world. Since the loud cry unites with the Three angles message, then those who proclaim it are SDA's. One would have to believe in the three angles messages in order for the loud cry to unite. Remember, the 144,000 comes from the 12 tribes of Israel.
Rev 7: 4 "And I heard the number of them which were sealed: and there were sealed an hundred and forty and four thousand of all the tribes of the children of Israel."
Who is Israel of today Benico?

Do you believe the 144,000 will play a part in the start of the loud cry, in it's beginning?
Do you believe when the loud cry starts, that's when some the 144,000 will be brought into GOD'S Church?
Do you believe some of the 144,000 will taste death/die?
Come on Benicio, it's good to answer these questions, this way I can have a good understanding on what you believe and what your trying to show me. Here, let me show you how to do it..

I believe when the latter rains comes, the outpouring, and the loud cry starts, GOD will have those in the Church sealed and ready to this work.. and I believe the 144,000 are the main people in doing this. I won't say they are the only ones from the SDA Church to proclaim the loud cry. But the people GOD is going to use has to put sin out of their lives. Now is the time to do that.
EGW: "I was shown that if God’s people make no efforts on their part, but wait for the refreshing to come upon them and remove their wrongs and correct their errors; if they depend upon that to cleanse them from filthiness of the flesh and spirit, and fit them to engage in the loud cry of the third angel, they will be found wanting. The refreshing or power of God comes only on those who have prepared themselves for it by doing the work which God bids them, namely, cleansing themselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God." TM vol.1 p.619
So you see Benicio, to have part in the loud cry, we have to clean ourselves of all filthiness. If someone is filtly when the loud cry starts they will not be apart of GOD'S people. GOD is only using "those who have prepared themselves for it by doing the work which God bids them, namely, cleansing themselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God." No tares with GOD'S true People/Church during the loud cry.

There have been many opinions and wrangling on this subject of 144,000. Notice what inspiration has to say.
"Christ says that there will be those in the church who will present fables and suppositions, when God has given grand, elevating, ennobling truths which should ever be kept in the treasure house of the mind. When men pick up this theory and that theory, when they are curious to know something it is not necessary for them to know, God is not leading them. It is not His plan that His people shall present something which they have to suppose, which is not taught in the Word. It is not His will that they shall get into controversy over questions which will not help them spiritually, such as, Who is to compose the hundred and forty-four thousand? This those who are the elect of God will in a short time know without question. {1SM 174.3}
"My brethren and sisters, appreciate and study the truths God has given for you and your children. Spend not your time in seeking to know that which will be no spiritual help. "What shall I do to inherit eternal life?" (Luke 10:25). This is the all-important question, and it has been clearly answered. "What is written in the law? how readest thou?"--Manuscript 26, 1901. {1SM 174.4}If we will be totally surrendered to God's will. If we will choose God's way, even when it makes no sense to us at all, then we can become candidates for this honor group. That is what we should strive for, not the highest honor of being in this group. For if seeking the highest honor is our motive, we can rest assured we will not be among them.
As for myself, I am well content to just be there. Being there with Jesus and my loved ones who have gone before will be heaven for me. I'll be happy to leave room for others in that groups of 144,000. (G)Maranatha :)

How can we strive with all our power to be among the 144,000 if we don't know anything about them?
In order to heed this admonition, it is imperative that we know something about them. The Bible and the Spirit of Prophecy has revealed much on this subject. Back in the early days of the Advent message there had arise some controversy over this subject and the servant of the Lord was compelled to pen these lines: "It is not His will that they shall get into controversy over questions which will not help them spiritually, such as, Who is to compose the 144,000? This those who are the elect of God will in a short time know without question." Manuscript 26, 1901 Vol. 1
According to the last sentence of the above quotation, the time would come when he subject would be crystal clear, as there would be no question as to the identity of the 144,000. It is true that we are not able to pick out certain individuals and say: "this one is to be one of the 144,000 and that one will not be," as God only knows which one has the seal.
"Angels Read the Mark.- What is the seal of the living God, which is placed in the foreheads of His people? It is a mark which angels, but not human eyes, can read; for the destroying angel must see this mark of redemption." (Letter 126, 1898). 7 Bible Commentary p 968-E.G. White.
"The work of separation is given to the angel's of God, and not committed into the hand of any man." Testimonies to Ministers p. 47.
The following is an interesting letter written to Elder Andross for Sister E.G. White, by her personal secretary, Clarence C, Crisler. "I feel confident, Elder Andross, that the brethren in Southern California will find blessing in reviewing the teachings of Scripture concerning the 144,000, and bringing to hear upon these teachings whatever light there may be in the published writings of Sister White: And as prayerful consideration is given the matter in all its bearings, I believe that God will make the truth sufficiently clear to make possible the avoidance of needless and unprofitable controversy over question not vital to the salvation of precious souls.” Dec. 8, 1914.
In order to strive to be among the 144,000 we must know something about them, such as: When are they sealed, What church they come from and what the requirements are for obtaining the seal. These things we must know, in order to strive to be among them. “Brethren, we must sink the shaft deep in the mine of truth.” Counsels to Writers and Editors p.41
“We do not go deep enough in our search for truth.” 1 Selected messages p. 415.

Well, the 144,000,there is a uniqueness which distinguishes them from all the redeemed saints. We will see that the Bible tells that:
1) they have unique knowledge of three angels message and the santuary message.
2) they have kept the ten commandments(all of them).
3) they have no sin of ignorance for which to be atoned.
4) before the probation's close, they have wholeheartedly embraced the everlasting gosple.
5) above all, they are tested during the time of Jacob's trouble like no other generation in the history of the world.
These 144,000 is literal among the last generation of the earth, who will, very faithfully and diligently live their lives in the very foot prints of Jesus. They will be sealed by God and despite satans effort to decive or kill them, God will keep them pure and translate them without seeing death at His second coming.
God loves us and his promises are faithfull. We cannot decide whether or not we will be part of those who are translated without seeing death. Yet the same experience which will fit us to be the part of 144,000 is the experience which God requires of all the members of His remnant church who will be saved.
