The SDA 28 Fundamentals has IJ as one of those pillars that upholds the platform we stand on. To my surprise I have noted some of the saints around here do not think there is any Investigative Judgement. So let us see if there is a Investigative Judgement or not. I have also noted that the same Saints do not subscribe to the writings of E G White. So I would prefer that we use the Bible only.

The SDA church does have the Investigative Judgement as one of its 28 fundamentals Quoting:

24. Christ's Ministry in the Heavenly Sanctuary:

There is a sanctuary in heaven, the true tabernacle which the Lord set up and not man. In it Christ ministers on our behalf, making available to believers the benefits of His atoning sacrifice offered once for all on the cross. He was inaugurated as our great High Priest and began His intercessory ministry at the time of His ascension. In 1844, at the end of the prophetic period of 2300 days, He entered the second and last phase of His atoning ministry. It is a work of investigative judgment which is part of the ultimate disposition of all sin, typified by the cleansing of the ancient Hebrew sanctuary on the Day of Atonement. In that typical service the sanctuary was cleansed with the blood of animal sacrifices, but the heavenly things are purified with the perfect sacrifice of the blood of Jesus. The investigative judgment reveals to heavenly intelligences who among the dead are asleep in Christ and therefore, in Him, are deemed worthy to have part in the first resurrection. It also makes manifest who among the living are abiding in Christ, keeping the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus, and in Him, therefore, are ready for translation into His everlasting kingdom. This judgment vindicates the justice of God in saving those who believe in Jesus. It declares that those who have remained loyal to God shall receive the kingdom. The completion of this ministry of Christ will mark the close of human probation before the Second Advent. (Heb. 8:1-5; 4:14-16; 9:11-28; 10:19-22; 1:3; 2:16, 17; Dan. 7:9-27; 8:13, 14; 9:24-27; Num. 14:34; Eze. 4:6; Lev. 16; Rev. 14:6, 7; 20:12; 14:12; 22:12.)

The hour of the evening sacrifice arrives. The priest stands in the court of the Temple in Jerusalem ready to offer a lamb as sacrifice. As he raises the knife to kill the victim, the earth convulses. Terrified, he drops the knife and the lamb escapes. Over the din of the earthquake he hears a loud ripping noise as an unseen hand rends the veil of the Temple from top to bottom. What did the tearing of the veil really mean?

Across town, black clouds enshroud a cross. When Jesus, the Passover Lamb of God, calls out, "It is finished!" He dies for the sins of the world.

Type has met antitype. The very event the Temple services have pointed to through the centuries has taken place. The Saviour has completed His atoning sacrifice, and because symbol has met reality, the rituals foreshadowing this sacrifice have been superseded. Thus the rent veil, the dropped knife, the escaped lamb.

But there is more to salvation history. It reaches beyond the cross. Jesus' resurrection and ascension direct our attention to the heavenly sanctuary, where, no longer the Lamb, He ministers as priest. The once-for-all sacrifice has been offered (Heb. 9:28); now He makes available to all the benefits of this atoning sacrifice.

I have noted some of the saints here saying that the atonement was fulfilled on the cross. I wonder how this could be correct? We have many texts telling us that there is an ongoing Investigative Judgement happening in the heavenly courts at this very moment.

It is true that some Christians don't believe in the IJ but they are not SDAs.  Spiritual things are spiritually discern,

Amen Jason as usual straight to the point Thank you.

Friends,

why don't we just be honest and say , we believe in the Investigative Judgment because of the teachings of William Miller, Hiram Edison, Uriah Smith and Ellen White and quit trying to prove it by rearranging scripture.

Blessings, Keith

Its not our forefathers beliefs we ground out doctrine of the IJ. Although that is where it stems from true. We have solid biblical evidence. I know that even prominent bible students like Desmond Ford has voiced their objections to the IJ doctrine. But you know what it still stands as one of our pillars of our faith. If you have seen my link to the sdanet you can read the fundamentals for you self. And as a Baptized member of the church you accepted this belief when you was baptized.

The Pharisees also had doctrine and traditions which Jesus condemned, which were not in God's Word or that corrupted it. If a tradition contradicts the other Words of God, which are addressed to the Body of Christ; primarily Romans through Thessalonians, then it is not to be followed, being a doctrine or commandment of men, or which at best may have been addressed to a different administration. Applying rules of the law which was addressed to the Hebrews, and not to Gentiles or the church of God for example. One can apply any principle from the Bible as long as it does not contradict what is addressed to the Body of Christ.

Failure to understand the dispensations of God, which are the administrations leads to confusion  and misapplication of what is not addressed to this Age of Grace. God changes the rules which can be seen in the different administrations. Under Paradise, there were only 4 commandments, not eating of the Tree of Good and Evil, to dress the garden, to be fruitful and multiply and Adam was commanded to name the animals by the revelation he received from God.

After the Fall, things drastically changed. Did Adam and Eve dress the Garden, no they were expelled from that state and place. They already ate of the Tree, the damage was done. The only thing left was to multiply the human population, but the earth was now much less frinedly, by the sweat of thy face, thorns and thistles and death, yes death entered.

So the administration of God changed because of change in the situation.

EGW was not a Bible scholar, and did not understand the principles of administration. She took writing from others without giving sources or credit to other writers. That is an historical fact, as well as many things were altered, edited in and out over the decades as well as more recently in history. Denominations circle the wagons and protect their financial cash-cow, as well as protecting the image and reputation of the organization.

The Body of Christ is not a denomination, but is composed of all those saved in this administration who made Jesus Christ Lord and are born again and have received the spirit of God that dwells in them. Looking to denominational organizations is carnal, not understanding the one body of Christ that is composed of former Jews and Gentiles, who are now of the Church of God.

It is difficult for any of us to admit that we are wrong, or have belief in something that is not true, especially when it's been a big part of our lives. We have a tendency to confirm what we know, rather than to test it out to determine if it is the truth. If a person were to do an honest investigation of the belief, there is no way they would continue to hold to the because there are too many issues with the belief. First, and foremost it diminishes the sacrifice made it at the Cross. As we know any ministry that takes away from Christ is a heresy and should not be in adhered to. Secondly, the development of the belief was done at a time in which the organization was looking for a reason to play significance on 1844, because so many people have been disappointed. At the time, this provided an opportunity for the church pioneers to capitalize on this gathering of people. Therefore, this group was likely to want to believe in such a doctrine, therefore wasn't difficult to sell it to them. Then, as the church progress people grew up, what the belief, and became one of the church traditions. As we know with historic Christianity, once a tradition has been established it is very hard to distinguish it even if it is in opposition to the word of God. I do think many of the people who came up with this belief were sincerely trying to develop a religion in which he was free from corruption. However; many times would begin with good intentions the end result is of human design. Ultimately, if they had admitted a mistake, and backed away from setting times and dates, they would have been more solid ground when they developed the foundations for this religion. I don't believe any religion has the ability to create a perfect doctrine, we are too human for that. However, we should examine what we believe and change it as we are led by the Holy Spirit. The organization was able to do that with many errant beliefs, such as Semi-Arianism, and the believe that the Holy Spirit is not a person. Therefore, the organization can make another step towards becoming more biblically based by getting rid of this belief/doctrine.

Do you think it is wise to be so exclusive. I something either you believe that believes in the IJ is a salvation issue, so why in the cave who is true or not true SDA. Our church has been one that has default over time with many different ideas. Which of the ideas you think is central to the religion. I would hope a set of all Christianity is a ministry of Christ. However, those that believe that there is a second ministry in heaven up here to be more in line with judging others. If you wish to convince others that the IJ is a right way to go, perhaps this is not the best tactic for conversion.

Leon

So Leon what is the Idea we need to pander to the Mainstream churches, and only believe as they do. Was not the three Angels message our mission. What does it Say? Fallen is Babylon Come out of her. What is your effort to separate yourself from Babylon? It seems like you prefer to go back in to me.

No Ian

Just Pander to God, and not to Humans including the SOP.

Leon

Condemning SOP again Leon.

Hello Ian

Not condemming, just questioning and encouraging those who use the SOP as their life guide. Don't let anything or any one hidner your relationship with Him.

Leon

Here is only a short passage from Desire of Ages:

“His name shall be called Immanuel, ... God with us.” “The light of the knowledge of the glory of God” is seen “in the face of Jesus Christ.” From the days of eternity the Lord Jesus Christ was one with the Father; He was “the image of God,” the image of His greatness and majesty, “the outshining of His glory.” It was to manifest this glory that He came to our world. To this sin-darkened earth He came to reveal the light of God’s love,—to be “God with us.” Therefore it was prophesied of Him, “His name shall be called Immanuel.”{DA 19.1}

I think that only the Bible would have more Bible quotes in it as it is the Bible.
