Please compare and contrast the following verses; Genesis 2:17 and Genesis 3:3.
I was having a discussion with my freinds and a question arose which was; "Did Eve sin before she aet of the fruit of the Tree?"
We find in Genesis 2:17 God commanding Adam and Eve not to eat of the fruit of the tree in the midst of the garden. But in contrast to Genesis 3:3, Eve in responding to the serpent includes a statement that does not appear in Genesis 2:17. The statement is "Neither touching the fruit."
With that we concluded that Eve actually lied because she added a statement that God did not say. Lying is making a false statement; either adding or removing, it is still lying.
So the question comes, "Did Eve Sin before She aet of the fruit of the Tree?" or if not then whats about the added statement of "Neither touching it"
Am stuck.....please help!
