Yes I believe that everything we do either brings us in harmony with the Lord or in rebellion, as it says.

1Co 10:31  Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God. (KJV)

Thanks. Very true. So be very careful to all what we in put and out put right?

I agree! To fear God is to desire to live in harmony with His righteous standards and to honor Him in all that we do.

thanks for agree and for adding your comment.

There are two types of fear that can motivate people—fear of the RIGHT things and fear of the WRONG things. Again, people in the world fear what they should not fear and do not fear what they should fear. Yet none fear God (Psa. 36:1; Rom. 3:18)! The fear of God is not naturally in human beings. In that respect, we were no different than people in the world prior to our calling. Coming into the Church meant that we needed to learn to properly fear God.

Define and set for yourself what your purpose is.  Ask yourself, "What is my purpose in life?"  Hopefully you base the answer on Scripture.  I use 'to glorify God.'

My purpose is to glorify God in all my thoughts, feelings, and actions.  It's Biblical. (1 Cor. 10:31)  It's all of our purposes.  After you decide to live by your purpose, move on to the next identifier.

It is not what just what we do we do that causes us to learn to fear the Lord but what we do as a result of fearing the Lord . I am assuming by "fear" you mean a holy and awesome reverence.

Thank you Mr. Kevin, The fear of the Lord is an awareness that you are in the presence of a holy, just, and almighty God and that He will hold you accountable for your motives, thoughts, words, and actions. To fear God is to desire to live in harmony with His righteous standards and to honor Him in all that you do.

Thanks you for your thought, very true that we need to base in the bible what our really purpose in our life. The thought of God’s judgments on sin should strike fear into every heart.

Respect God's word. Having a high regard for the Bible, the Word of God, is an essential part of growing in the fear of the Lord.

Thanks for this very crucial discussion.

I believe the fear of the Lord is depicted in our lifestyle, which entails all you have listed here.

God requires obedience (1 Samuel 15:22-23)  from us, which can also be called, keeping His commandments, and also Loving the Lord (John14:15- If you love me keep my commandments).

Psalms 34:11-22 offers us this counsel:

'Come, ye children, hearken unto me: I will teach you the fear of the LORD. What man is he that desireth life, and loveth many days, that he may see good? Keep thy tongue from evil, and thy lips from speaking guile. Depart from evil, and do good; seek peace, and pursue it.'

This verses tell us that the fear of the Lord is departing from evil and doing good. This is further emphasized on Proverbs 8:13 -' The fear of the LORD [is] to hate evil: pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, and the froward mouth, do I hate.'

and I find the same teaching in
Psalms 111:10 - The fear of the LORD [is] the beginning of wisdom: a good understanding have all they that do [his commandments]: his praise endureth for ever.

Job 28:28 - And unto man he said, Behold, the fear of the Lord, that [is] wisdom; and to depart from evil [is] understanding.

Deuteronomy 10:12 - And now, Israel, what doth the LORD thy God require of thee, but to fear the LORD thy God, to walk in all his ways, and to love him, and to serve the LORD thy God with all thy heart and with all thy soul,

Then Ecclesiastes tell us that the Fear of God is our duty:

Ecclesiastes 12:13 - Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this [is] the whole [duty] of man.

From this, I understand that the Fear of the Lord is departing from evil and pursuing righteousness. Keeping the Lord's commandments is reflecting His character.

I therefore believe that the fear of God, which is the whole duty of man, is to reflect the character of God

Very helpful verses Bessy, thank you so much. Learning to Fear the Lord deepen your awareness of God’s presence.

God blessed!

very true, 'learning to fear the Lord deepens our awarenes of God's presence'

So How do we learn to far the Lord?

1) Listening to and studying the word of the Lord, we learn how to Fear Him Deu 4:10,

2) Parents have a duty to instruct their children and teach them how to honor and fear God. Deu 4:10, 7:8, 11:19, Gen 18:19

Deu_4:10  Specially the day that thou stoodest before the LORD thy God in Horeb, when the LORD said unto me, Gather me the people together, and I will make them hear my words, that they may learn to fear me all the days that they shall live upon the earth, and that they may teach their children.

An event such as this is one way to learn the fear of God. For some, it may be the only way, but it is not the way that God prefers.
