"From my girlhood I have been given plain instruction that God is a person, and that Christ is 'the express image of His person.' " (Ellen White, Manuscript 137, 1903).
God is a person, not three person. God Himself dwells in heaven; only His Spirit, proceeding from Him, is in all things; only His Holy Spirit dwells in receptive human hearts to make them holy.
"Those who seek to remove the old landmarks are not holding fast; they are not remembering how they have received and heard. Those who try to bring in theories that would remove the pillars of our faith concerning the sanctuary, or concerning the personality of God or of Christ, are working as blind men. They are seeking to bring in uncertainties and to set the people of God adrift, without an anchor." {Ms62-1905}
This also explains why there is little unity within Seventh-day Adventism, for we have left this pillar:
"He who denies the personality of God and of His Son Jesus Christ is denying God and Christ. “If that which ye have heard from the beginning shall remain in you, ye also shall continue in the Son and in the Father.” If you continue to believe and obey the truths you first embraced regarding the personality of the Father and the Son, you will be joined together with them in love. There will be seen that union for which Christ prayed just before His trial and crucifixion." {Ms23-1906}
Let the pioneers speak, first her husband, then J.N. Andrews, who would be horrified to know that which he protested against is being taught at a college under his name:
"Here we might mention the Trinity, which does away the personality of God, and of his Son Jesus Christ..." {December 11, 1855 James White, ARSH 85.15}
"The doctrine of the Trinity which was established in the church by the council of Nice, a. d. 325. This doctrine destroys the personality of God, and his Son Jesus Christ our Lord. The infamous measures by which it was forced upon the church, which appear upon the pages of ecclesiastical history might well cause every believer in that doctrine to blush." {1855 J.N. Andrews, TAR 54.3}

Here is another word for Trinity that does not remove the personhood of God and that is "Godhead". The nature of God is not easy to understand concept for us sinful beings.

Webster

Godhead
GOD'HEAD, n. god'hed.

1. Godship; deity; divinity; divine nature or essence; applied to the true God, and to heathen deities.

Col 2:9 ForG3754 inG1722 himG846 dwellethG2730 allG3956 theG3588 fulnessG4138 of theG3588 GodheadG2320 bodily.G4985

G2320

θεότης
theotēs
theh-ot'-ace
From G2316; divinity (abstractly): - godhead.

EGW writes this about the Godhead among some 400 other quotes.

It is the glory of the gospel that it is founded upon the principle of restoring in the fallen race the divine image by a constant manifestation of benevolence. This work began in the heavenly courts. There God decided to give human beings unmistakable evidence of the love with which He regarded them. He “so loved the world, that He gave His only-begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” John 3:16. {CH 222.1}
The Godhead was stirred with pity for the race, and the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit gave Themselves to the working out of the plan of redemption. In order fully to carry out this plan, it was decided that Christ, the only-begotten Son of God, should give Himself an offering for sin. What line can measure the depth of this love? God would make it impossible for man to say that He could have done more. With Christ, He gave all the resources of heaven, that nothing might be wanting in the plan for man’s uplifting. Here is love—the contemplation of which should fill the soul with inexpressible gratitude! Oh, what love, what matchless love! The contemplation of this love will cleanse the soul from all selfishness. It will lead the disciple to deny self, take up the cross, and follow the Redeemer. {CH 222.2}

Greetings Malachi

Your theory of faith, does not hold up with Scripture. While I agree the term "trinity" is not a Hebrew word, thus a word invented by men, therefore I do not accept the use of this word. However the term "family" is a Hebrew word, and does associate with "elohiym" in only ONE Bible verse, found in the NT, written by Paul.

Eph 3:14 ¶ For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,
 15 Of whom the whole (every) family in heaven and earth is named,
 16 That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man;

Notice all three members of this family are listed in this passage, and it says every family on earth and in heaven will be named, or re-named.

In order to strengthen our confidence in God, Christ teaches us to address Him by a new name, a name entwined with the dearest associations of the human heart. He gives us the privilege of calling the infinite God our Father. "Asking to Give By Ellen G. White"

Notice Ellen White says the Most High is termed a NEW NAME, hence why don't we SDA people go looking for the OLD NAME of the Most High in Scripture? What would that be?

The old name for the Most High is "eloah".

Similarly the old name for Jesus is Michael.

Similarly the old name for the Holy Spirit is Shadday.

Now Scripture says to line up Scripture with Scripture, so let's test if the Elohiym kind, is indeed a simile of a family.

Lu 1:35 And the angel answered and said unto her,

The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee,  (One eternal Being)

and the power of the Highest shall (Father as second eternal Being)

overshadow thee: (overshadow requires TWO Beings to make shadow, not ONE)

therefore also that holy thing which shall be born  (born requires parents, not ONE Being)

of thee shall be called the Son of God. (mystery incarnation of Jesus, their Son)

This is by far the strongest verse that tells us the family of Elohiym, has two different personalities of function or love.

And again notice three members named in oldest book:

Job 40:1 ¶ Moreover the LORD answered Job, and said,
 2 Shall he that contendeth with the Almighty instruct him? he that reproveth God, let him answer it.

LORD-YHWH-Jesus

Almighty-Shadday-Holy Spirit

GOD-Eloah-Father

And again in the last book of Bible:

Re 4:8 ¶ And the four beasts had each of them six wings about him; and they were full of eyes within: and they rest not day and night, saying, Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty, which was, and is, and is to come.

Lord-kurios-Jesus

God-theos-Elohiym-family reference, includes Father

Almighty-Shadday-Holy Spirit

If you look into the Ancient Hebrew meaning of elohiym,

Finally if we add more letters we make the most common Hebrew word for deity power:-

Notice our heavenly Father "flows", the pictograph of flowing water suggests our heavenly Father's power flows. This is what making "elohiym" plural really means, the heavenly power of love via our Heavenly Father, flows.

See We have One source of love flows, not three flows of love, not three springs, but one spring. Therefore our understanding of love is wrong, we assume we can self love, but GOD is highly relational, a community entity, we assume the gender male and gender female are two Beings, yes, but one Person when married.

Le 18:8 The nakedness of thy father's wife shalt thou not uncover: it is thy father's nakedness.

When understanding our Bible, we must not impose our cultural understanding upon it, like some of our translators have. I would suggest you read Jeff Benner, Ancient Hebrew Research Center.

Have a read of our study:

I read you comment, but the Bible nowhere calls God Himself a family or community. There is one great family and it includes all who are sons of God, either by creation or adoption, or begotten (in Christ's unique case). The family has no mother. God Himself—El Shaddai (the Mighty Breasted One)—has female qualities, but He is properly called our Father and is throughout Scripture given the proper pronouns 'He' and 'Him', never 'She' or 'Her', or 'They' or 'Them'.

God is one person, and this is established by Scripture, Spirit of Prophecy, and our pioneers.

Rather than make a blanket sweeping statement my friend, please attack the two verses I gave you.

I have many others, but you need to respond to the Bible and the Bible alone, not me.

"nowhere calls God Himself a family or community"

There is ONE Bible text.

You say it refers to people adopted into a family, "either by creation or adoption, or begotten (in Christ's unique case)." That is a secular meaning of family, not a true meaning of family.

Than you say:

"The family has no mother", suggesting the Father has both "masculine and feminine personalities".

I could accept your position, except Scripture does NOT teach that.

Why does this passage include all three members: Father, Son and Spirit? you did not comment on that?

You made no comment on Luke 1:35?

Three things there destroy your point of view:

1) Two divine Beings come over Mary to do the "Born Process" as "born process requires"

2) Overshadow is a term that requires TWO OBJECTS, you cannot make shadows using light only, ie one Object, you require at least TWO divine Beings, separated by space, with matter in two different locations.

3) All three divine members are again named.

I also showed you three Divine Names, in oldest book of Bible, and last book of Bible.

Now please comment upon the two verses I gave you, what is wrong with them. line up each verse, line upon line. Attack the verses if you can. As I have pointed out.

Both verses have all three members named.

Eph 3:15.16 says every family is named, the Most High, the Saviour and the Spirit were indeed all named from OT times to NT times, as this verse says.

Luke 1:35 also has all three members of GOD listed.

Two are listed doing a Shadow thing, Father overshadows Spirit, and also Born process.

This alone adds to Ephesians 3:15, how a true family would operate.

Please attack these two verses.

You assume there are no other pronouns... do there need to be?

Genesis 1:26 has the pronoun "us".  And another picture "image of elohiym" and the strange notion of gender male and gender female. Such a notion causes the creation of "family".

Do you want a feminine pronoun in the OT? There is one verse in the KJV

Ho 4:19 The wind hath bound her up in her wings, and they shall be ashamed because of their sacrifices. (KJV)

Ho 4:19 The Holy Spirit hath bound Israel up in "her wings", and they shall be ashamed because of their sacrifices. (Hebrew)

Now before you wander off to other verses, please answer the verses I gave you, Eph 3:15,16

and Luke 1:35.

Shalom my friend.

I'm not interested in attacking you or the Bible, but I think you are mistaking your own interpretations of the Bible for what the Bible actually says.

Sorry Malachi, if I used the wrong word. Critique perhaps? Just answer my questions then. Which you haven't done yet. And it's not my interpretation either, but what Scripture says, later on I can show you the same thing with the SOP. But first answer the questions in the previous post.

Shalom, my friend.

Please answer the verses I gave you, Malachi, Eph 3:15,16and Luke 1:35.

Comment on both verses, not just one, line up Scripture with Scripture, jigsaw pieces.

Shalom

I will not dare to speculate on the incarnation of Christ.

Malachi, arn''t you opting out studying Scripture, who says I am making any conclusions about the mystery of the incarnation. I agree with you, we dare not speculate on the incarnation of Jesus.

OK, lets try another approach:

How are shadows made? You do require one object, or two objects?

One object must function as a source of light, ie have mass radiating light across space, as a single entity.

Another object must function to block partially that light, like a filter, at a different place in space, with mass, hence two independent objects.

Can the second function be a force of the Father functioning as light? No. I am not aware of any light experiment proving this affect. Experiments with object lessons have to be simple, otherwise our Bibles are for the learned, the scholar, and is too deep to understand.

Notice this verse:

Ps 91:1 ¶ He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
 2 I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.
 3 Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence.
 4 He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler.

If as you claim, the Father and the Holy Spirit (Shadday) are one person, how can you make shadows from one Being? This verse says we are "safely abiding under his wings" a Hymn, so our Father has wings?

If that is true, why the change to the pronoun referencing his wings in this verse :

Ho 4:19 The wind (holy Spirit) hath bound her up in her wings, and they shall be ashamed because of their sacrifices. (KJV)

So does this make the Father both gender male and gender female, in your understanding:

Ge 1:27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.

The big thing you have to explain to me right now, is how does one Person, make shadows by Himself?

So how can the Father, one object as a Being, make shadows by Himself, if He is the source of light? If you say He makes a second Person of Himself, than aren't you essentially making two Fathers, across space, both with mass?

If you throw Ephesians 3:15, and consider "every family in heaven is named" than the Elohiym has been named too in the NT compared to the OT, since all three members are named, I find it easier to consider elohiym as a family picture. The SOP backs this up.

Shalom
