THE POLITICAL CLIMATE IS NOT ONLY WARMING IN GOVERNMENT BUT ALSO IN THE CHURCH.  SDA MEMBERS ARE DIVIDED WITH ISSUES SUCH AS GAY MEMBERS, WOMEN PASTORS, DRUMS AND ELECTRIC GUITARS FOR WORSHIP.  WILL THE GEN CONFERENCE SACRIFICE ITS BASE BELIEFS AND ROOTS TO ACCOMMODATE THE PROGRESSIVE NEW CULTURE AND TO HARMONIZE WITH THE LEFT LEANING THINKERS?

IN TEXAS, SOME SDA MEMBERS OF LATINO BACKGROUND HAVE BROKEN OFF INTO WHAT IS QUICKLY GAINING GROUND. THE NEW “IGLESIA ADVENIMIENTO DEL SEPTIMO DIA IS GROWING WITH MOSTLY EX SDA WHO WANT A MORE TRADITIONAL AND CONSERVATIVE WORSHIP.  TRADITIONAL SONGS HYMNS. NO JEWELRY OR MOVIE THEATER ETC.  WHAT DO YOU THINK?

There were divisions and problems in the first century church. Nothing new under the sun.

SO TRUE.

These are all good values that should be practiced by all of God's people, but we are not going to disfellowship a member or conference for watching movies or wearing jewellery or singing contemporary gospel songs or for eating meat, cheese, eggs or milk. It is not our role to purify the church. What did the people say about the wheat and the tares?

The work of separation is the work of Satan. Who says that those who join this new organisation are pure and holy or will remain pure and  holy. How many coming outs will there be? I am sure that these new new organisations will be one 'corrupt', will this lead to a new organisation? When willit stop?

Rick seems to me you are talking about bringing a unconsecrated worldlings in to the church and change the church to suit the tastes of worldlings.

I do not know your preferences about what you see as fitting in Church. But to me it is not rock music. I can well understand those Latinos who wants to preserve some semblance of reverence.

EGW has this to say about some of these changes in the Church:

Already the doctrine that men are released from obedience to God’s requirements has weakened the force of moral obligation and opened the floodgates of iniquity upon the world. Lawlessness, dissipation, and corruption are sweeping in upon us like an overwhelming tide. In the family, Satan is at work. His banner waves, even in professedly Christian households. There is envy, evil surmising, hypocrisy, estrangement, emulation, strife, betrayal of sacred trusts, indulgence of lust. The whole system of religious principles and doctrines, which should form the foundation and framework of social life, seems to be a tottering mass, ready to fall to ruin. The vilest of criminals, when thrown into prison for their offenses, are often made the recipients of gifts and attentions as if they had attained an enviable distinction. Great publicity is given to their character and crimes. The press publishes the revolting details of vice, thus initiating others into the practice of fraud, robbery, and murder; and Satan exults in the success of his hellish schemes. The infatuation of vice, the wanton taking of life, the terrible increase of intemperance and iniquity of every order and degree, should arouse all who fear God, to inquire what can be done to stay the tide of evil. {DD 30.3}

ELIJAH SAID: "Rick seems to me you are talking about bringing a unconsecrated worldlings in to the church and change the church to suit the tastes of worldlings"

NO NOT AT ALL, JUST OPENING UP AN INTERESTING ISSUE FOR DISCUSSION.

THERE IS A CLEAR DIVISION AMONG NOT ONLY SDA BUT CHRISTIANS IN GENERAL ON SOME OF TODAY'S HOT SOCIAL TOPICS AND THEY HAVE NOW TRICKLED INTO THE "CHURCH".

MY SISTER IN LAW IS GOOD FRIENDS WITH WITH AN EX SDA LADY FROM DALLAS WHO IS NOW A MEMBER OF THE SAID CHURCH.  THEY SUPPOSEDLY PRIDE THEMSELVES IN BEING DEEP ROOTED IN EGW, SABBATH, TRADITIONAL WORSHIP, MODEST DRESS ETC.  THEY ARE MOSTLY EX SDA WHO CLAIM THAT THE SDA IS NO LONGER HOLDING TRUE TO THESE CUSTOMS.

BUT TO BE CLEAR, I AM NEITHER FOR OR AGAINST, I BELIEVE THAT THE "CHURCH" IS THE COLLECTIVE GROUP OF HUMANS WHO ACCEPT JESUS AS THEIR SAVIOR AND THAT GOD IS OUR CREATOR....IE.... JOHN 3:16.

ALSO, I GREW UP SDA AND STILL AM, BUT IT IS OBVIOUS THAT THESE CHANGES HAVE BEEN BREWING, WHEN I WAS A TEEN IN THE 80'S, IT WAS TABOO TO DRINK A COKE OR GO TO THE MOVIES.  TIME FLY'S.

Thanks for your reply Rick, yes those changes going on in the Church and most of them are not for the better sadly. What I should have mentioned in my first post is that according to EGW the church will stand to the end here is the quote:

"The church may appear as about to fall, but it does not fall. It remains, while the sinners in Zion will be sifted out—the chaff separated from the precious wheat. This is a terrible ordeal, but nevertheless it must take place. None but those who have been overcoming by the blood of the Lamb and the word of their testimony will be found with the loyal and true, without spot or stain of sin, without guile in their mouths. We must be divested of our self-righteousness and arrayed in the righteousness of Christ". – {2SM 380.2}

So whatever wrongs we do see in the Church they will be ironed out before Christs return.

Rick,

Generally, posting in all caps is considered to be shouting, and if continued, is considered a bit rude.  Plus it makes your post hard to read.  Please consider changing this kind of posting.  It wouldn't make your posts less impactful - just easier to read.  Thanks.

Is the church a rest home for saints, or a hospital for sinners?  Is sinlessness the price of admission?  When someone says that “bringing in unconsecrated worldlings” is damaging the church, it seems to imply that there exist something other than that in this world.  The entire world that we are to reach consists of “unconsecrated worldlings”, and when they hear the message, become convicted, are baptized, and enter the church, they are forgiven sinners.  The process of “consecration” (read: sanctification) is now the work of a lifetime, according to the Bible and Mrs White.  There is never a time, short of the Kingdom, where any church member is objectively not a sinner.  A sinner saved by the blood and grace of Jesus Christ, however.  But any person who claims that they can point to any group of church members, or any individual, as an example of sinlessness, is objectively and demonstrably wrong.

A certain amount of humility, then, is called for when a church member points to sin in the church, because he is in the church also, and still contains and exhibits sin himself.  The only one qualified to cleanse “sin in the church” is the Sinless One Himself.  And let’s not pretend that we can cleanse the church of “sinful practices” (or things that we regard as sinful practices), and think that we have actually cleansed the church of all sin.  Overt sinful practices is only the tip of the iceberg.  The difficult sins that are particularly hateful to God, such as Pride and Selfishness, would still remain.  And no “church cleansing project” would be effective in wiping those sins out of our fellowship. Only Jesus Christ Himself can do that.  And He said that the wheat and tares would grow up together until the very end.

Yes, Thanks for the lecture Jack and you are right we can not cleanse the church ourselves. But we have a voice that God has given us permission to use.

Are we a bit touchy, here?  “Lecture?”

I was not touchy if it sounded like that I am sorry. And I still believe we can lift up our voice in protest to bad leadership.

There are already division in the Adventist Church what gets me is what scripture says that we are all one in Christ Jesus.  and members of one body.
