"In the allegory of Ezekiel 16 God tells how He adorned His bride (Israel) with: "Jewelry, bracelets, necklace, ring in nose, earrings, and a crown on her head" (16:11, 12).  No where in Scripture do we find God using something that is evil in a positive light.  The pig is never regarded positively.  Idols are never regarded positively.  Prostitution is never regarded positively.         We do have examples of things that once were good becoming evil because the people misused them.  The bronze serpent that Moses made to heal the Israelites later had to be destroyed by Hezekiah because the people had begun to worship it (2 Kings 18:4).  We also have examples of good things being given up for a time such as when people fasted, or took off their regular clothes and donned sackcloth.  But we don't have an examples of evil things being also addressed positively unless jewelry is the only exception."    (Not my words ... but I thought they were good ones)

I have! :D

What does that have to do with jewellery though? :\

Edit: nevermind, Michelle just answered my question.
In Isaiah 3:17-26 God makes it clear that the problem God has with jewelry is the pride that it brings to the human heart. God understands our human sinful condition much more than we do and that is why we are to lay aside our jewelry especially in the time we are living in now, which is the Day of Atonement. Remember that Jewelry is what caused Lucifer himself to become proud....

It is very significant that when the Victory is gained we will receive a crown full of jewels... Our hearts will no longer be tempted to become prideful... God knows when we will be able to handle jewelry... I choose to trust in Him....
I knew there was a reason why I don't wear jewelry. It's so that I can prepare myself for the heavenly jewelry that God will give me. Cool.
:o)
I am a guy so why should i wear jewelry?
Yes. Go figure ...
Yes, for " For this corruptible must put on incorruption". God knows what He's doing and when :)
It seems to me that outward adornings tend to give the wearer a sense of confidence and self-esteem etc.

"In the fear of the Lord is strong confidence" (Prov 14:26), however, the confidence that comes from outward adornings is a deceptive kind of confidence. In my view, this is why God effectively says not to do it.

Isa 3:18-21
"In that day the Lord will take away the bravery of their tinkling ornaments about their feet, and their cauls, and [their] round tires like the moon, the chains, and the bracelets, and the mufflers, the bonnets, and the ornaments of the legs, and the headbands, and the tablets, and the earrings, the rings, and nose jewels, etc. etc."

When our "tinkling ornaments" etc. make us feel "braver" and "stronger" in ourselves, we should take it as a danger signal. Ultimately it is while we are consciously weak in ourselves that real strength can be had. Our strength and our "bravery" does not depend on what we wear on our bodies; real strength and courage depends [ultimately] on how close we are to God.

We live in a world where, to many people, ‘image is everything’. But let's not fall into that trap. As the prophet says, Let not the mighty man glory in his might, nor the wise man glory in his wisdom, nor the rich man glory in his riches. Let us not take "pride" in anything that we have, do, or wear, but if we glory in anything, then let us glory in this – that we understand and know the God who sustains us.
Summed up --
Jewelery can make us feel braver or more confident, but in reality it tends to weaken the person.
Context is always in the eye of the beholder. People argue and write books on the topic. But I always appreciate your opinion.
But it IS in the future.
Sounds like jewelry to me.
