Art said; the 1st Beast of Rev 13:. It's not 'exclusively' the Pope. The Pope is only one head of the Beast.
Art, the Pope is not at all the first beast. This figure came up out of the first beast, it emerged only after three of the horns of the first beast was removed.
"While I was thinking about the horns, there before me was another horn, a little one, which came up among them; and three of the first horns were uprooted before it. This horn had eyes like the eyes of a human being and a mouth that spoke boastfully.
Daniel describes a little horn (we know who this is). This little horn is also described has having a mouth that spoke boastfully, just as Revelation 13:5 says.
Daniel also describes this horn as a beast.
11Then I kept watching because of the arrogant words the horn was speaking. As I continued to watch, the beast was slain, and its body was destroyed and thrown into the blazing fire.…
This beast is the second beast that John saw in Revelation 13
11Then I saw another beast rising out of the earth. This beast had two horns like a lamb but spoke like a dragon. 12And this beast exercised all the authority of the first beast and caused the earth and those who dwell in it to worship the first beast, whose mortal wound had been healed.…
John sees the little horn as it has transformed into a beast; This beast had two horns like a lamb but spoke like a dragon.
As the declining of United States principles continues in the coming years under the Trump administration, and as the United States continues to lose its power to influence by relinquishing its role as leader of the free world, a new power will slowly emerge on the world scene. This world superpower will be new, yet it is an ancient power.
8 The beast, which you saw, once was, now is not, and yet will come up out of the Abyss and go to its destruction. The inhabitants of the earth whose names have not been written in the book of life from the creation of the world will be astonished when they see the beast, because it once was, now is not, and yet will come.
This will be the seventh and final head of beast power that once was. Many people will be astonished when they see the beast, because it once was, now is not, and yet will come.
The bible says in verse nine, “This calls for a mind with wisdom.” Wisdom comes God.
Verse 11 also introduces us to another beast that once was
11 The beast who once was, and now is not, is an eighth king. He belongs to the seven and is going to his destruction.
The eighth king will emerge when the seventh head or seventh king comes out of the Abyss; these two powers are historically connected.
Gene said :
" Elijah I’m telling you that this view of 538 and 1798 is falsehood and it completely contradicts Revelation 13:3 and 5. So, once again because you seem to be a little slow at this.
One of the heads of the beast appeared to be fatally wounded. But the mortal wound was healed.
The beast was given a mouth to speak arrogant and blasphemous words, and authority to act for forty-two months.
Are you following the sequence of events here?
The KJV says; and power was given unto him to continue forty and two months."
Based on the passage you followed you sequence is faulty. Here is a better sequence based on Revelation 13:
1. Fatal wound
2. wound heals
3. world wondered after him
4. world worshiped dragon and beast
5. The beast is given a mouth and authority to act for 42 months
The prophesy Elijah speaks about concerning the dark ages is from Daniel 7:25 not Revelation 13.
Daniel 7:25 And he shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws: and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time.
This refers to the dark ages from 538 AD to 1798. After this the investigative judgement in verse 26.
Returning to revelation 13, John is speaking about the same Papacy but the prophecy is future. We are told, “power was given . . . him to continue forty and two months,” the same terminology used in Revelation 11:2 denoting the time “the holy city” is “tread under foot forty and two months” which amounts to the same 1260 of Revelation 12:6, 14; 11:2,3; Daniel 12:7 and 7:25.
Based on their contexts, we know that the 1260 of Daniel 7:25 is to the historic dark age while that of Daniel 12:7 is future.
Check out this quote from the pen of inspiration: “In the last days Satan will appear as an angel of light, with great power and heavenly glory, and claim to be the Lord of the whole earth. He will declare that the Sabbath has been changed from the seventh to the first day of the week: and as Lord of the first day of the week he will present this spurious Sabbath as a test of loyalty to him. Then will take place the final fulfillment of the Revelator’s prophecy. [Rev.13:4-18, quoted.]” Manuscript Releases Vol.19, page 282
A complement to that quote is as follows: “The sabbath question will be the issue in the great conflict in which the world will act a part [Rev.13:4-8, 10 quoted]. This entire chapter is a revelation of what will surely take place. [Rev.13:11, 15-17, quoted.]” Manuscript Releases Vol.19, page 182 and SDA Bible CommentaryVol.7, page 979
II Cor. 11:14 - "...For Satan himself transforms himself into an angel of light." (NKJV)
When does this happen? It certainly should happen before the 7 LAST plagues. With the book of revelation covering the 'last day' events as EGW indicates... prophetically speaking, when does the devil, himself, in person, live... show up impersonating Jesus?
There are none in respect to what Jason offered…
In the last days Satan will appear as an angel of light, with great power and heavenly glory, and claim to be the Lord of the whole earth. He will declare that the Sabbath has been changed from the seventh to the first day of the week: and as Lord of the first day of the week he will present this spurious Sabbath as a test of loyalty to him.
How is he suppose to appear, is he coming in a spaceship? In that case, are you going to argue with that?
As Christians we are not to be ignorant of his devices, and we are told that Satan himself transforms himself into an angel of light as oppose to an angel of darkness. He is a shapeshifter, so transform himself so that he may take advantage of our weakness. He does this through human being in our human world.
Gene do you ever have heard about supernatural. The Devil is here already if you have a bible look up Rev. 12.
Supernatural is just another way of saying unknown unexplained.
You still haven't cited a Bible verse(s) that indicate how, when, where, details... etc of the Devil impersonating Jesus. I appreciate the SOP but the 'greater light'... the Bible must surely shed light on such an important event as the Devil appearing, live, in person impersonating Jesus. See my sketch below showing when and where the Devil has appeared in Heaven, Earth and the Abyss and his destruction.
Help me out with the Bible texts. Thanks, Art
I don't think Gene really believe in the SOP
You still haven't cited a Bible verse(s) that indicate how, when, where, details... etc of the Devil impersonating Jesus.
I haven’t cited one because there is not any verse which says that; its all conjecture. The SOP has a way of saying things the bible just does not say, I don’t find it at all dependable as a source of knowledge.
Satan is in the earth, but he is not on it; he (it) doesn’t live in Transylvania or in the center of the earth. Satan is a spirit being and as such can only manifest himself through an earthly human vessel; he uses human beings to act on behalf.
Satan was cast out of heaven and into or on to the earthly realm; he has access to earth as never before.
“Therefore Heavens, celebrate, and those who dwell in them; woe to The Earth and to the Sea, for The Devil, who has great fury, has descended to them, as he knows that he has little time.”
Jesus said, ….and concerning judgment, because the ruler of this world has been judged. In John 12:31
Jesus says, “Now judgment is upon this world; now the prince of this world will be cast out.” This is a prophecy; the world is not being judged now because Satan has not been cast out yet but will be as we are shown in Revelation 20.
2And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years, 3And cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal upon him, that he should deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years should be fulfilled: and after that he must be loosed a little season…
Satan is the god of this world, and he rules it through deception and illusions and uses telepathy as a means transmitting thoughts to our minds.
1As for you, you were dead in your trespasses and sins, 2in which you used to walk when you conformed to the ways of this world and of the ruler of the power of the air, the spirit who is now at work in the sons of disobedience.
He transmits his desires and thought to our minds because thoughts are spiritual. As human beings we have the capacity to act upon thoughts or we can cancel the though and generate another. Satan is a master magician, he employs illusion and trickery to accomplish his will.
Satan did not physically appear before Jesus in the wilderness, unless of course it was through an illusion. The battle was in Jesus thoughts and his mind, Satan injected all the things Jesus could be and do if he only worshiped him. So, Jesus had to overcome his own self and place himself on a higher plane aligned with God.
The Devil has never been visible in the earthly realm even though his acts are, because the devil in not on the material earth.
Ephesians 6:12 For our struggle is not against human opponents, but against rulers, authorities, cosmic powers in the darkness around us, and evil spiritual forces in the heavenly realm.
This is where The Devil lives, he is of the spiritual forces in the heavenly realm. Not in the heavens of heaven where God is, but in the cosmos and yet capable of having sway and rule over our human world.
