What was the result of Abraham taking a second wife? What was the result of David and Solomon having many wifes? The bible has this to say about it.

Deu 17:15 Thou shalt in any wise set him king over thee, whom the LORD thy God shall choose: one from among thy brethren shalt thou set king over thee: thou mayest not set a stranger over thee, which is not thy brother.
Deu 17:16 But he shall not multiply horses to himself, nor cause the people to return to Egypt, to the end that he should multiply horses: forasmuch as the LORD hath said unto you, Ye shall henceforth return no more that way.
Deu 17:17 Neither shall he multiply wives to himself, that his heart turn not away: neither shall he greatly multiply to himself silver and gold.

ELIJAH:  IF WE ARE TO FOLLOW THE LAW AND THE SCRIPTURE TO THE LETTER, THEN LETS THROW THESE IN THE MIX:

DEUT: 17: 5. then shalt thou bring forth that man or that woman who has committed that wicked thing unto thy gates, even that man or that woman, and shalt stone them with stones till they die.

EPH:  6:5  Slaves, obey your earthly masters with respect and fear, and with sincerity of heart, just as you would obey Christ.

COL. 3:22  Slaves, obey your earthly masters in everything; and do it, not only when their eye is on you and to curry their favor, but with sincerity of heart and reverence for the Lord.

EXODUS 12: 12 The Lord said to Moses and Aaron in Egypt, “This month is to be for you the first month, the first month of your year. Tell the whole community of Israel that on the tenth day of this month each man is to take a lamb[a] for his family, one for each household. If any household is too small for a whole lamb, they must share one with their nearest neighbor, having taken into account the number of people there are. You are to determine the amount of lamb needed in accordance with what each person will eat. The animals you choose must be year-old males without defect, and you may take them from the sheep or the goats. Take care of them until the fourteenth day of the month, when all the members of the community of Israel must slaughter them at twilight. Then they are to take some of the blood and put it on the sides and tops of the doorframes of the houses where they eat the lambs. That same night they are to eat the meat roasted over the fire, along with bitter herbs, and bread made without yeast. Do not eat the meat raw or boiled in water, but roast it over a fire—with the head, legs and internal organs. 10 Do not leave any of it till morning; if some is left till morning, you must burn it. 11 This is how you are to eat it: with your cloak tucked into your belt, your sandals on your feet and your staff in your hand. Eat it in haste; it is the Lord’s Passover.

EXODUS 12:24  24 “Obey these instructions as a lasting ordinance for you and your descendants... GOD.

THIS IS WHY PAUL MAKES HIS CASE FOR GRACE IN THE NEW TESTAMENT.

I was not talking about adultery I was talking about multiple wives. As you may know, the new testament does not endorse bigamy or multiple wives what so ever, notwithstanding grace.

In today's western world why would you even want one wife?  The expense and drama of two is an insane thought.  If you could find one Godly women then count yourself blessed and stop looking and treat her right.

RG, Acts 17:30 says that," And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent."  The heathen nations surrounding Israel did this and Israel began the practice as well.  I wonder what would be the reaction of western men if women wanted more than one husband.

Just happened to run across this statement in my devotions this morning and thought about this discussion. "Polygamy had been early introduced, contrary to the divine arrangement at the beginning. The Lord gave to Adam one wife, [BEGIN P.92] showing His order in that respect. But after the Fall, men chose to follow their own sinful desires; and as the result, crime and wretchedness rapidly increased. Neither the marriage relation nor the rights of property were respected. Whoever coveted the wives or the possessions of his neighbor, took them by force, and men exulted in their deeds of violence. They delighted in destroying the life of animals; and the use of flesh for food rendered them still more cruel and bloodthirsty, until they came to regard human life with astonishing indifference." {PP 91.3}
