Has this man been disfellowshipped for such treason? If not, there's some serious corruption involved, and spiritual blindness, and apathy. And how can we support that?

The religion of Jesus is endangered. It is being mingled with worldliness. Worldly policy is taking the place of the true piety and wisdom that comes from above, and God will remove His prospering hand from the conference. Shall the Ark of the Covenant be removed from this people? Shall idols be smuggled in? Shall false principles and false precepts be brought into the sanctuary? Shall antichrist be respected? Shall the true doctrines and principles given us by God, which have made us what we are, be ignored? Shall God's instrumentality, the publishing house, become a mere political, worldly institution? This is directly where the enemy, through blinded, unconsecrated men, is leading us. {21MR 448.3}
These things have gone as far as they should without someone protesting against them in plain words. The Lord's time to set things in order has fully come. There are men in positions of trust who have not had an experience in the leading out of this work, and these men should walk with humility and caution. {21MR 448.4}
In the night season I was present in several councils, and there I heard words repeated by influential men to the effect that if The American Sentinel would drop the words "Seventh-day Adventist" from its columns, and would say nothing about the Sabbath, the great men of the world would patronize it, it would become popular, and do a larger work. This looked very pleasing. These men could not see why we could not affiliate with unbelievers and non-professors to make The American Sentinel a great success. I saw their countenances brighten, and they began to work on a policy to make the Sentinel a popular success. {21MR 448.5}

In their own wisdom, they abandon the tenets of their faith, seeking to become popular with the world. In one case they cease talk about the Sabbath. In this case they can't talk about antichrist, but here, they are seen honoring antichrist. They are paying homage to the Pope!! I'm not surprised, but still it is shocking.

That sends the wrong message. Anyone expressing such ecumenical sentiments should be disfellowshipped. This is contrary to the three angel's message, whereby the Lord commissions us to call His people out of Babylon, warning them of partaking of her sins. Now it looks like we are eager to partake of her sins.

As the Protestants churches have been seeking the favor of the world, false charity has blinded their eyes. They do not see but that it is right to believe good of all evil, and as the inevitable result they will finally believe evil of all good. Instead of standing in defense of the faith once delivered to the saints, they are now, as it were, apologizing to Rome for their uncharitable opinion of her, begging pardon for their bigotry. {GC 571.4}
A large class, even of those who look upon Romanism with no favor, apprehend little danger from her power and influence..... {GC 572.1}
A prayerful study of the Bible would show Protestants the real character of the papacy and would cause them to abhor and to shun it; but many are so wise in their own conceit that they feel no need of humbly seeking God that they may be led into the truth. Although priding themselves on their enlightenment, they are ignorant both of the Scriptures and of the power of God. They must have some means of quieting their consciences, and they seek that which is least spiritual and humiliating. What they desire is a method of forgetting God which shall pass as a method of remembering Him. The papacy is well adapted to meet the wants of all these. It is prepared for two classes of mankind, embracing nearly the whole world--those who would be saved by their merits, and those who would be saved in their sins. Here is the secret of its power. {GC 572.2}

As a literature evangalist, I frequently came in contact with minsters of other faiths, including Catholics. To my recollection, I never addressed them as "reverand," or "father" or any other such terms. I had no trouble with communicating with them by just calling them "Pastor". Some even gave me a list of the members in their church who would enjoy the books I was selling.

Political correctness is not all that important, if it is important at all. These men know what those of other communions do not see them as members of their churches do, and from my experience, they respect that.

This is not to disagree, nor compromise, but to present yet another angle to the subject.

I think that you will find that this is Rev. B.T. Rice from the New Horizon Seven Day Christian Church. This church is not a member of the sisterhood of Seventh Day Adventist churches.

You can verify this at the Faith Beyond Walls webiste here.

There is also a Facebook page here.
It is very important in these cases to investigate thoroughly before coming to a conclusion.
The Bible says it this way. "He who answers a matter before he hears it. it is folly and shame to him. Proverbs 18:13

You're right, and thanks for the verse, but no one has taken any action yet. No one has answered anything. We just started talking about this, just now, in the last few hours. We're still getting the information together. Be patient, man. It looks like you're the one who's answering a matter too quickly. Which is kind of ironic, if you think about it...

That sounds very much like the situation. We have had these "New Horizon" churches here in Oregon too. They are "adventist" in profession only, and then barely.

Are you sure that B. T. Rice was not at one time, an Adventist pastor, who later defected? It says on this site, that he was, when he did this, back in January of 1999.

http://www.seventh-day.org/sda-papacy.htm

"The conference had a representative there, pastor B.T. Rice of the Northside Seventh-day Adventist church, who spoke and made a presentation to the Pope!"

Maybe they where misinformed.

Let's try a google search. Hmm... Here's an obituary page. It says, here:

Orchestrated by the rearing of a righteous mother, Delores accepted Christ at a young age at Newstead Avenue Missionary Church under the pastorate of The Late Rev. Roy Harris. Through the ministerial influence of her brother, Emanuel, she and Amos united with Northside Seventh-day Adventist Church under the leadership of Pastor G.D. Penick and Pastor B.T. Rice. Ultimately, alongside her husband, Delores culminated her walk with the Lord as a charter member of New Horizon Seventh-day Christian Church, also led by Pastor B.T. Rice, where she faithfully served as deaconess, treasurer and developer of the media ministry.

That's interesting.... Any more information? K, then. Here's another quote:

Here we are taught that finite man is not to be placed where God should be. He is not to be honored as a god, or to be bowed down to. "Worship Him that made heaven and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters." The man of sin is worshiped in the person of the pope, and his representative, the cardinal. But God has not given this power to pope or prelate. The pope is not regarded by God as anything more than a man who is acting out in our world the character of the man of sin, representing in his claims that power and authority which Satan claimed in the heavenly courts. {5MR 102.2}

...we also need to be kind to the Pastor, as he is in a difficult position, how else to you acknowledge a power you don't like ? And enemy even ?

In this action, he makes himself the enemy of the cause of God in this last day, the three angel's message. Not an enemy to us as individuals, like a guy who just doesn't like you. I would say there's a difference.

Besides, disfellowship would be a kindness to him. It would allow him to know how serious his errors are, and give him cause to correct them. He would also be forced to stop betraying his brethren, whereby he would be heaping up more wrath for himself, in the judgment.

Well he's moved on, anyway. Maybe he was disfellowshipped. Or it was suggested to him that he resign.

I have had to work with Catholic Fathers before, though I never called them Father to their face, let's be more kind and neutral in this matter, after all how would you address the man our enemy ?

Also Jesus respected many enemies

If you care about the man, the last thing you would want to do, is bow down to him, encouraging him in his rebellion against the throne of God.

Hope to throw a little balance in the other direction here....

Ya, but what you ended up doing, is just muddying the water, a bit.
When God sent Jones and Waggoner , Christ Our Righteousness message, Sister White was not informed by God that He sent them. But when she heard their message, she said they are messengers of God, etc. No jealousy was manifested towards these two young men but still it was mocked and ridiculed by most leaders until the three of them were separately assigned to different countries abroad to silence them. That kind of persecution coming from the very leaders who were supposed to encourage/support them was too much for mere human beings like them that caused them their downfall. Ellen G.White, that time felt so discouraged like Elijah in the OT.

Likewise, if God will send another messenger we could not expect that it will be welcomed with open arms by most brethren...

He could have  addressed him with  "dear sir" or " dear pope whatever".

I would not have called him holiness with a gun pointed to my head.

Agreed.

You might be right Rush....if he is a New horizon faith, than he's not a real SDA....and it shouldn't have been posted as SDA Pastor BT here.

I guess you missed the obituary. Here it is again:

http://www.thecrymesfamily.com/memdelores.html

It is an obituary, created by members of the New Horizon Seven Day Christian Church in 2008. It says P. T. Rice is one of the pastors leading the "Northside Seventh-day Adventist Church". Then it says he is also the leader of the New Horizon church. I quoted where it says that, in this post..

That page was not written by Collen Standish.

Also, in the video, the text at the bottom said he was the pastor of that Northside SDA church. It looked like the fancy text of the broadcast, not like the other text that was edited in later, quoting SOP against the pastor.

But one might ask: "What is an SDA pastor doing running some New Horizon Whatchamacallit church?" This may what's called a "cell church". They will use the fake church to bring people into fellowship with themselves, without the pressure committing to SDA dogma. I guess, the hope is to gradually transition them into the real church. The Jesuits have been teaching this method, along with their guided meditation workshops, to all the churches who are willing to participate. That's one of their ways of bringing congregations into ecumenical fellowship with the Papacy.

That video, from 1999, was some kind of ecumenical meeting, where representatives of various churches came to pledge their support, and announce their affiliation with the movement.

That happened in 1999, and 9 years later, he's still an SDA pastor. So he's probably still a church member. According to that first web page, he was sent there by his conference, to represent the SDA church, and was not acting on his own.
