Should Gays and Lesbians be allowed membership and church positions in the SDA Church?
Now, when I ask this question, I mean practicing gays and lesbians.
God Bless, Alex.

Permalink Reply by Man Flower Glow on December 3, 2011 at 9:00pm why do u ask that here?
most christians cant stand em {i should know}
whats the point?
so the nastiest of the bunch can post more hate?
and feel smug that their sins are better or not as bad?
do u think one brave person is going to say
YES to your question!
????
and not be verbally flogged
using scriptures as a hammer?
maybe we all can be spared this time and see connection for a change??????????????
and GODS HEART REVEALED toward wayward sinners!
Permalink Reply by Jay on December 3, 2011 at 10:29pm If someone is in leadership, they should not be actively practicing ANY type of sin (not just homosexual sins). For example, a pastor who cheats on his spouse should be asked to leave his leadership role (and he often is). Same thing goes for any other type of sin. Can a leader backslide and still be saved, of course. But in the case of a leader, a leader must not tarnish the message by tarnishing his image because ultimately our goal is to save people from sin through Jesus Christ. How can we preach salvation if the face of the church is reflecting someone that is in sin?

I believe most people understood what I meant by "practicing". The reason I ask the question is because so many people are willing to allow any and every sin in the church. As was stated by Jay, leaders are removed from their positions for other sins of sexual immorality, shouldn't it be the same for homosexuality?

GBU
U say so many people in our SDA church are willing to allow any and every sin in church?
Yes but only the coveting,greedy,gossiping,proud,hatemongering ones on good standing
not the practicing gays that are genuinely seeking GOD!
:(

There are obviously many problems in the church, but does that mean we should justify anything? I don't believe Scripture teaches that.
Jesus, when talking with the Rich Young Ruler, exposed his reliance on money, and this young man who had tried very hard it seems to be good was exposed. God exposed what isn't normally seen with the naked eye. God didn't let him off the hook just because of his money or any other reason.
It the case of gay people, their sin is more obvious, but that doesn't make it any more accepting by God or man! I think I understand your point about so many sins in the church as bad or maybe worse than homosexuality that are harder to see or just ignored. That doesn't change the fact that homosexuality is too abhorrent to bless with membership and leadership roles.
Don't you think the church should protect it's integrity as much as possible?
God Bless, Alex.
Permalink Reply by teresa on December 5, 2011 at 1:09pm Yes, I do think the church should protect it's integrity as much as possible. Now when we all get through "cleansing" the church who will be left? :)
Teresa
Just like God found Noah, just like He found Job, yes there will be righteous people left when you cleanse the church.. Remember it is only righteous that will be save. We need to realize that we have to let go of our self righteousness, and depend on Christ to clothe us with His righteousness..
Permalink Reply by teresa on December 5, 2011 at 1:06pm Shouldn't members be removed for practicing the sin of pride and misrepresentation of others? Misrepresentation of another person particularly is breaking the 9th commandment.
Permalink Reply by Alexander on December 9, 2011 at 9:17pm Wouldn't it be nice if we didn't resort to shame and self pity to make our points?
All because there are other sinners in the church, that doesn't justify condoning any and every sin. I would like to see some Biblical response so we don't lead ourselves into darkness.
Does the Bible ever allow for gays and lesbians to lead out at God's church?
God Bless, Alex.
