Shun Those With Low Standards, Loose Morals.-- It is wrong for Christians to associate with those whose morals are loose. An intimate, daily intercourse which occupies time without contributing in any degree to the strength of the intellect or morals is dangerous. If the moral atmosphere surrounding persons is not pure and sanctified, but is tainted with corruption, those who breathe this atmosphere will find that it operates almost insensibly upon the intellect and heart to poison and to ruin. It is dangerous to be conversant with those whose minds naturally take a low level. Gradually and imperceptibly those who are naturally conscientious and love purity will come to the same level and partake of and sympathize with the imbecility and moral barrenness with which they are so constantly brought in contact.  {AH 462.2}       A good name is more precious than gold. There is an inclination with the youth to associate with those who are inferior in mind and morals. What real happiness can a young person expect from a voluntary connection with persons who have a low standard of thoughts, feelings, and deportment? Some are debased in taste and depraved in habits, and all who choose such companions will follow their example. We are living in times of peril that should cause the hearts of all to fear.  {AH 462.3}

We are living in an age where people no longer associate by going out with friends, but we can do that right in our bedrooms. We can be in class or home with parents, while busy with the phone and far away from home or class. We carry our friends in our pockets.

 Satan cannot read our thoughts, but he can see our actions, hear our words; and from his long knowledge of the human family, he can shape his temptations to take advantage of our weak points of character. And how often do we let him into the secret of how he may obtain the victory over us. Oh, that we might control our words and actions!  {FLB 327.7}

This statement reminds me of the line on facebook, "whats on your mind?"

How strong we would become if our words were of such an order that we would not be ashamed to meet the record of them in the day of judgment. How different will they appear in the day of God from what they seem when we utter them.--Review and Herald, February 27, 1913.

  When we talk discouragement and gloom, Satan listens with fiendish joy, for it pleases him to know that he has brought you into his bondage. Satan cannot read our thoughts, but he can see our actions, hear our words; and from his long knowledge of the human family, he can shape his temptations to take advantage of our weak points of character. And how often do we let him into the secret of how he may obtain the victory over us. Oh, that we might control our words and actions! How strong we would become if our words were of such an order that we would not be ashamed to meet the record of them in the day of judgment. How different will they appear in the day of God from what they seem when we utter them.--RH, May 19, 1891.  {2MCP

In your business, in companionship for leisure hours, and in alliance for life, let all the associations you form be entered upon with earnest, humble prayer. You will thus show that you honor God, and God will honor you. Pray when you are fainthearted. When you are desponding, close the lips firmly to men; do not shadow the path of others; but tell everything to Jesus. Reach up your hands for help. In your weakness lay hold of infinite strength. Ask for humility, wisdom, courage, increase of faith, that you may see light in God's light and rejoice in His love. {HDL 61.1}

my simple answer to your question sir is, it depends...

Is it a blessing or a curse? That is the question. The truth is: "neither" It is the same thing as asking: "Are guns evil?" Because they kill people. Or saying: "Are spoons a blessing or a curse?", usually a spoon bring more food to the mouth, It is all the same question. Social media or network, give us the freedom to express who we are inside. Our characters can clearly be seen by using social media.

Social media only gives us the freedom to share and communicate who and what we are inside. What we are can only be change as we come at the fee of Jesus. If social media is a curse it is only because the users are not long enough at the feet of our savior. If this is a blessing, it is because we are spending enough time at his fee.
pookito blessings!
I knew it would come to this, but tell me. Do you then own a gun and leave it in your living room?
Some people tell me they evangelise on facebook... Well... You know thats not true... What type of evangelism do you do when you are browsing the pictures of ladies and guys.
How many people have you won for Christ using the social media?
The social media is not about christ but the worship of self... You always need to comment about something odd so that you can appear cool.

is it a numbers game with u?

see the fruit or else?

WHY ARE U HERE?

worshipping yourself some more?

Back in the days, parents used to sit with their children at home and guide them. These days we can all be sitting in one house while we are all in different worlds. Taking to people our parents would die if they knew whats going on. We are many but all of us have our worlds in our own space. All cheap things come at a price to our lives...
We hardly reach 60 at a go on AO why? Because its religious. But if it was worldly, all people would be there. We cannot serve God and mammon. Says the bible.
It took years for people to realise the effects of TV, Media, Magazines, Movies, music and ect. But now we all know the effects.
I thank God for clark P, for creating such a controlled environment. The Lord used you. But how many of use such a tool?

I think there is a misconception some where. Obviously, if people are just spending their time looking at pictures of hot boys and girls at social sites, then we are waisting our time. It is true that social media can and is used that way. But, there are a lot of people that are not using social media that way. I am one of many who are using the media in a different way. I use an opensource version of twitter, aka Statusnet. You can find a version of the site at: www.identi.ca

I got a close community where we share news and thoughts about freedom, politics, software libre among other topics. we share and comment on different topics. I started an adventist group on the social site. I am no longer the admin on that site.

The problem that I see with social media is that it empower the user, This is not a problem for me but for some people it is. Those are the examples that I gave you before. we can not blame the spoon because we are over weight. I don't think we should ban spoons in a church or country because the majority of people eat too much. The problem comes from with in. I don't think it is appropriate to find out if "Ashton" just washed his car, or "Britney Spears" got married, again. If people are using social media for that reason, then there is something wrong. But social media is just a short version of emails and or blogs.

hahahhah Pookito

I guess you did find out that one on tweeter right lol hahaha

Sadly, I did.  :)

This is one of the topics that I discussed with my brother.  There are a lot of garbage on social websites.  A lot of information that take space and time.  Sadly most people like that. :(

Lol. Emy Love. Happy new year! Your funny. I missed you much.
I agree with you my friend. Its not FB but the people. My problem is when i study the SOP, It talks of us having to carry the bible wherever you go and as you have time, read it. But now the word of God has to compete with so many things. And we have a generation of young people who know nothing about prophecy. FB is the first thing in their minds, not the bible. What are people saying has more significance than what God says in his word.
