It will not be as many think, but those who follow Jesus will be in heaven at this period. The Millennium or the 1000 year reign of Christ with His saints comes about, but the Bible says it is in heaven between the first and second resurrections, not on earth. During this time the wicked dead will be judged and the earth will be utterly desolate, without any living human inhabitants, but occupied by Satan and his evil angels. At the close of the Millennium or the 1000 years in heaven, Christ with His saints and the Holy City will descend from heaven to earth. The wicked dead will then be resurrected and face the final judgement, along with Satan and his angels at the Lake of Fire which will consume them and cleanse the earth of sin forever.

As Christians we know that Jesus is preparing a place in heaven for us, all Christians should agree on that, and He will come again at the Second Coming and take the saints to heaven. A few days before His death, Jesus told His disciples what He was going to do before coming back at the Second Coming:
John 14
King James Version (KJV)
1 Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.
2 In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.
3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.

So how will He come, does the scripture tells us? 40 days after His resurrection, Jesus led His disciples to a clearing and a cloud of angels came and Jesus was raised up into the cloud.
Acts 1
Jesus Taken Up Into Heaven
6 Then they gathered around him and asked him, “Lord, are you at this time going to restore the kingdom to Israel?”
7 He said to them: “It is not for you to know the times or dates the Father has set by his own authority.
8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”
9 After he said this, he was taken up before their very eyes, and a cloud hid him from their sight.
10 They were looking intently up into the sky as he was going, when suddenly two men dressed in white stood beside them. 11 “Men of Galilee,” they said, “why do you stand here looking into the sky? This same Jesus, who has been taken from you into heaven, will come back in the same way you have seen him go into heaven.”Jesus ascended literally, bodily, in full view of His disciples and followers. As they watched Him go up, two angels appeared and said He would come back "in like manner" as He went up. Thus Christ's Second Coming will be literal, bodily, and visible to normal human eyes. Paul told the early believers to keep looking for the visible return of Jesus.
Titus 2:13
Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;

There will be nothing secret about His return. Jesus told them plainly how it would be, and the Second Coming will be awsome.
Matthew 24:25-27
25 Behold, I have told you before.
26 Wherefore if they shall say unto you, Behold, he is in the desert; go not forth: behold, he is in the secret chambers; believe it not.
27 For as the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.

But Jesus also warned that false messiahs bring false hope would try to fool them:
Matthew 24
King James Version (KJV)
4 Jesus answered: “Watch out that no one deceives you. 5 For many will come in my name, claiming, ‘I am the Messiah,’ and will deceive many.

But Christ Second Coming cannot fool the faithful who read His word as they are told clearly what they will see and there is nothing secret about it and how Christ will come. Christ's return will be loud and visible to the eyes of "all the tribes of the earth." When He comes and the heavenly trumpet sounds and the billions of angels come in a great cloud, no o*ne will wake up the next day wondering what happened.
Revelation 1:7
& #8220;Look, he is coming with the clouds,” and “every eye will see him, even those who pierced him”; and all peoples on earth “will mourn because of him.” So shall it be! Amen.

Matthew 24
King James Version (KJV)
30 “Then will appear the sign of the Son of Man in heaven. And then all the peoples of the earth[c] will mourn when they see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven, with power and great glory.[d] 31 And he will send his angels with a loud trumpet call, and they will gather his elect from the four winds, from one end of the heavens to the other.

Scripture tells us that at the Second Coming, Christ comes with his angels and resurrects the saints and they rise up to the cloud of angels and Christ takes His saints to heaven and the earth is emptied of its inhabitants. Satan is left to wander the earth alone during the Millennium, as at the coming of Christ the wicked are slain and the earth is left empty and desolate for the 1,000 years and we see it in Revelation 20.

Revelation 20
King James Version (KJV)
1And I saw an angel come down from heaven, having the key of the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand.
2 And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years,
3 And cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal upon him, that he should deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years should be fulfilled: and after that he must be loosed a little season.

During the millennium, the thousand-year period of which Revelation 20 shows us, Satan's will be bound or his influence over the earth will be restricted, and Christ will reign with His saints

4 And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years.a 1000 years on earth, in fact everyone that follows Christ will be in heaven.

Reasoning this reply is to JohnB as well.

The bible shares with us two resurrections; the first resurrection and the Great White Throne Judgment resurrection. What we don’t see in the bible is what has been noted from The Second Resurrection

“…Jesus called forth the wicked dead; and they came up with the same feeble, sickly bodies that went into the grave.”

These supposing walking dead are to be the ones to attack the city. The only time we see a resurrection apart from the first resurrection is the Great White Throne resurrection; this is not it.

7When the thousand years are complete, Satan will be released from his prison, 8and will go out to deceive the nations in the four corners of the earth…

Satan goes out to deceive the nations because the nations are on earth. They have gone through the millennium period which is a judgment period and these have chosen to follow Satan.

9And they marched across the broad expanse of the earth and surrounded the camp of the saints and the beloved city. But fire came down from heaven and consumed them.

11Then I saw a great white throne and the One seated on it. Earth and heaven fled from His presence, and no place was found for them. 12And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne.

Here are the rest of the dead: Those who were not resurrected during the first resurrection, as well a those who died during the millennium period.

Isaiah 65:20 There shall be no more thence an infant of days, nor an old man that hath not filled his days: for the child shall die a hundred years old; but the sinner being an hundred years old shall be accursed.

…and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. 13And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. 14And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.

14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. Here we see the fulfilment of a stated prophecy about death in 1 Corinthians 15:26

The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death.

So, if we stay in the context of the bible, we won’t have to make up things in an effort to support something else that had been made up.

On Thursday Gene said, "At the closed of the 1000 years we are not given any indication of a resurrection taking place; only the Great White throne."

On Friday Gene said, "The only time we see a resurrection apart from the first resurrection is the Great White Throne resurrection;"

This demonstrates the problem in a nutshell, if Gene continues to change what he says he believes from day to day, what is the point to this discussion?

I've suggested this before, go away and work out what you actually believe because right now you flip-flop between different opinions ignoring what the Bible says. This is like the argument over Jeremiah, first you say he doesn't mean desolation of the earth, then he does, then he doesn't. No method at all to these constantly shifting arguments.

Peace

Gene wrote: "Satan goes out to deceive the nations because the nations are on earth. They have gone through the millennium period which is a judgment period and these have chosen to follow Satan."

Yes, nations (unrighteous) are on earth because they are resurrected after the 1000 years, at the same time Satan is loose after the 1000 years, bring those two together and you have Satan doing what he does best, deceive.

Gene wrote: "Here are the rest of the dead: Those who were not resurrected during the first resurrection, as well a those who died during the millennium period."

9And they marched across the broad expanse of the earth and surrounded the camp of the saints and the beloved city. But fire came down from heaven and consumed them.

Gene , do you believe the second resurrection is for the wicked?

Your saying the second resurrection is after the 1000 years, just not right after the 1000 years, but after Satan goes out to deceive the nations ( nations that you believe has already been there before Satan was let loose)?

In other words, do you believe the second resurrection happens after the time of the "little season" Satan is let loose?

I ask because I always want to fully understand another person view, but in light of Jeremiah 4, which you have failed to explain without contradicting the Bible... I'm going with SDA teaching. It's not because I'm bais, it's just that I follow what is Truth.

Thank you.

Gene said:

Of course, the rest of the dead is of the second resurrection which will occur at the Great White Throne Judgment. .... I believe that this reconciliation will continue in the second resurrection. Why? Because God wants everyone to be saved.

Gene seems to me you do only read the texts in the Bible that suit your Paradigm. Jesus said this:

Mat 7:13  "Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. 14  Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it.

According to Jesus here it says the majority will not be saved.

My paradigm?  I see hope and rescue in the second coming, you see doom and gloom and a desolated earth. Its difficult living in this world ruled by Satan, there is no hope at all. The world is suffering, look at it. War, poverty, sickness and disease, deceitfulness, greed and the list go on and on. But you’re tell me, the only hope the world has ever had is going eventually going to destroy the world because of Satan evil rule. I beg to differ.

…he cometh to judge the earth: with righteousness shall he judge the world, and the people with equity.

Strong's Hebrew 8199: 1) to judge, govern, vindicate, punish 1a) (Qal) 1a1) to act as law-giver or judge or governor (of God, man) 1a1a) to rule, govern, judge 1a2) to decide controversy (of God, man) 1a3) to execute judgment 1a3a) discriminating (of man) 1a3b) vindicating 1a3c) condemning and punishing 1a3d) at theophanic advent for final judgment 1b) (Niphal) 1b1) to enter into controversy, plead, have controversy together 1b2) to be judged 1c) (Poel) judge, opponent-at-law (participle)

Thanks for your reply, Gene. Yes, your paradigm is different from mine, quite markedly so. We have told you time and time again you need to reconcile your text with the rest of the Bible, it is after all God's word, not yours. To me it looks like you grab a text that takes your fancy and build a doctrine on that, totally disregarding context and harmony with the rest of the Bible.

Judgment has already been done before Jesus Christ returns

Rev 11:18  The nations were angry, and Your wrath has come, And the time of the dead, that they should be judged, And that You should reward Your servants the prophets and the saints, And those who fear Your name, small and great, And should destroy those who destroy the earth."

Peace

Hey Gene, I was going over what you wrote, you posted this

I asked, Do you believe the rest of the dead are part of the first or second resurrection?

Gene wrote: Of course, the rest of the dead is of the second resurrection which will occur at the Great White Throne Judgment.
2Cor. 5 says
that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and He has committed to us the word of reconciliation.

Gene wrote: "I believe that this reconciliation will continue in the second resurrection. Why? Because God wants everyone to be saved."

Are you saying some/many of those who rise in the second resurrection will be saved?

Thank you!

Reasoning said

"Are you saying some/many of those who rise in the second resurrection will be saved?"

Yes, I am. Reading Ellen White who stated “….all those who were not either resurrected or translated then are forever lost.”

That’s pretty astonishing to say the least. Let's consider the Great White Throne judgment.

12And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. …15And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.

The “And whosoever was not found…” certainly suggest that some names were found written in the book of life.

Another reason I hold this view is found in Revelation 21

3And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God. 4And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.

Who are these men? They cannot be those of the first resurrection because they reigned with Christ a thousand years. Not only that, they are forever changed, being children of the resurrection, they are children of God, and as we are told of them, flesh and blood cannot enter the kingdom of God (1Cor. 15:50).

Also, it says:

God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain…

Those of the first resurrection are as the angels (Lk. 20:36), they shall never die. The ones here has tears, pain and death which need to be removed. Death we are told, will be the last enemy to be abolished (1Cor.15:26).
