I was doing a study to write a outline of the foundational pillars of Adventism. Everyone seems to have a personal view of what they entail but limited support for it. What SOP or writings in church periodicals has everyone on this important issue as I have the following pillars.....
The investigative judgment
The sanctuary service
The perpetuity of the Law of God
The faith of Jesus
The Three Angels' Messages
The seventh-day Sabbath
The state of the dead
The special gift of prophecy (or the Testimony of Jesus).
1Co 1:20 Where is the wise? Where is the scribe? Where is the disputer of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of this world?
1Co 1:21 For since, in the wisdom of God, the world through wisdom did not know God, it pleased God through the foolishness of the message preached to save those who believe.
1Co 1:22 For Jews request a sign, and Greeks seek after wisdom;
You are right, James, all the above are fair game for discussion in their relevant thread and there are relevant threads for those discussions. But it does not mean that everything is relevant for every thread, otherwise the entire site could be condensed into one thread and the reader left to pick his way through every single post to see if any were relevant to his or her topic.
I do not know of one site that operates that way.
So we follow the Bible injunction of 1 Corinthians 14:40, "Let all things be done decently and in order."
Posts should be made in the appropriate threads so readers may follow the arguments presented and the intent of the OP is not disrespected.
To radically change the topic under discussion and expect others to follow suit is both disrespectful and selfish. This thread is about enumerating the fundamental pillars of Seventh-day Adventism, not about discussing individuals pillars.
In regard to the trinity doctrine, as you are aware, there are several threads on this site on that topic. One of those threads would be the appropriate place to discuss that pillar. Otherwise there would be a continual repetition of the content of those threads - which would be inappropriate and serve to stifle discussion.
There is a search box at the top of the page which allows one to locate threads on a specific topic and a new post in that thread will bring it to the top of the list of latest posts.
So there is no need to take a thread off topic and by following the rules of the site posts on a specific topic are kept in one place. This makes it easy for a reader to follow the discussion.
I don't think 'Salvation' or 'Stewardship' is something that Adventist brought as a pillar, do you have anything to show on that?
Salvation needs to be a pillar Fundamental Beliefs says this:
10. Experience of Salvation:
In infinite love and mercy God made Christ, who knew no sin, to be sin for us, so that in Him we might be made the righteousness of God. Led by the Holy Spirit we sense our need, acknowledge our sinfulness, repent of our transgressions, and exercise faith in Jesus as Lord and Christ, as Substitute and Example. This faith which receives salvation comes through the divine power of the Word and is the gift of God's grace. Through Christ we are justified, adopted as God's sons and daughters, and delivered from the lordship of sin. Through the Spirit we are born again and sanctified; the Spirit renews our minds, writes God's law of love in our hearts, and we are given the power to live a holy life. Abiding in Him we become partakers of the divine nature and have the assurance of salvation now and in the judgment. (2 Cor. 5:17-21; John 3:16; Gal. 1:4; 4:4-7; Titus 3:3-7; John 16:8; Gal. 3:13, 14; 1 Peter 2:21, 22; Rom. 10:17; Luke 17:5; Mark 9:23, 24; Eph. 2:5-10; Rom. 3:21-26; Col. 1:13, 14; Rom. 8:14-17; Gal. 3:26; John 3:3-8; 1 Peter 1:23; Rom. 12:2; Heb. 8:7-12; Eze. 36:25-27; 2 Peter 1:3, 4; Rom. 8:1-4; 5:6-10.)
Yes, but the pillars are more of what Adventism brings, other than normal Christianity.
