When one tries to increase his knowledge by doing mental gymnastics over books without waiting upon God and looking to the guidance of the Holy Spirit, his soul is plainly in full swing. This will deplete his spiritual life. Because the fall of man was occasioned by seeking knowledge, God uses the foolishness of the cross to "destroy the wisdom of the wise.”
Watchman Nee

How many SDA's have fallen into the trap of Knowledge vs True Spiritual growth and development. Instead of seeking a relationship with Christ they seek a relationship with the rules. This is an unfulfilled Christian experience which leads to anger and frustration. It also paves the way for a judgemental nature. It is imperative for us all to wait patiently for the Guidance of the Holy Spirit both in action and wisdom. It is this path that leads to true fulfillment. Many in this world are seeking a Spiritual Connection but have are confused about method. As Christians we can follow the example of Pastor Nee, and seek the true knowledge of the cross.

Leon the one thing you seem to forget is that the Holy Spirit gives us different gifts designed to build the church in a harmonious whole.

I don't always appreciate the gifts of others; but I am aware of how the Gifts of the Spirit work to make a harmonious whole.

OK Leon that is great. So may I ask why you are sowing dissent among the members here?

I just read this!   He is sowing dissent by speaking about importance of having Holy Spirit.   I am praying for you family

In Need you should read more than one post before jumping in and condemn someones post.

"doing mental gymnastics over books without waiting upon God"

Are you talking the Jesuit teaching of "Christian mindfulness, a path to finding God in all things" or are you teaching Buddhism and Ignatian spirituality?

I ask this because if the Holy Spirit does not agree with the Bible then it is not the Holy Spirit but the teachings of demons. How do you know if you do not study the word of God?

Why are you here peddling this nonsense?

When you say Pastor Nee, who are you talking about? Could it be Watchman Nee?

Watchman Nee is in the quote, so yes I am talking about Watchman Nee. And It is amazing how conspiracy people like yourself can turn all persons into the same entity. This is your priority but it is not healthy,

As said before you are on an SDA sight by deception and you accuse me of being conspiratorial for asking you direct questions. Why don't you have the guts to answer rather than deflecting?

Bart and Elijah. Why are you so hostile? Leon is correct in what he is saying. I just quoted it in another thread about reading 1 Cor. 13, which we all can benefit from, especially if one renews their mind to the Word. Knowledge puffeth up, but charity (the love of God) edifieth.

Balance between knowledge and walking by the spirit is necessary and best. Both are needed. They confirm each other. Gift ministries are to the church (the body of Christ) for the perfecting of the saints. Eph. 4:12 "For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:" The Greek word for perfecting is katartismos, which means complete furnishing, equipping.
Strong's number 2677.

But the manifestations of Holy Spirit are just that, as the word gifts was added in reference to the manifestations in 1 Cor. Chapters 12, 13 and 14, misleading almost all of Christianity, as the gift is Holy Spirit, but the 9 manifestations come with the gift of Holy Spirit.

Assuming that everyone else that doesn't agree with you has demons without both scriptural and revelation by discerning of spirits is without foundation, and is a false accusation and a sin, speaking evil and impugning someone's character, reputation and morals without justification.

Even if someone has false doctrine, that alone doesn't mean that person is evil necessarily. When you misunderstood in school, did you have a demon always thereby?

James as you are not a SDA you would not be able to understand what the argument is about. So do not worry about it just go back to your happy clapper congregation, and take Herbert with you.  And here we go again you accuse us of sin have you looked in the mirror lately?

From the beginning God has wrought through His people to bring blessing to the world. To the ancient Egyptian nation God made Joseph a fountain of life. Through the integrity of Joseph the life of that whole people was preserved. Through Daniel God saved the life of all the wise men of Babylon. And these deliverances are as object lessons; they illustrate the spiritual blessings offered to the world through connection with the God whom Joseph and Daniel worshiped. Everyone in whose heart Christ abides, everyone who will show forth His love to the world, is a worker together with God for the blessing of humanity. As he receives from the Saviour grace to impart to others, from his whole being flows forth the tide of spiritual life. {AA 13.2}

God chose Israel to reveal His character to men. He desired them to be as wells of salvation in the world. To them were committed the oracles of heaven, the revelation of God’s will. In the early days of Israel the nations of the world, through corrupt practices, had lost the knowledge of God. They had once known Him; but because “they glorified Him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, ... their foolish heart was darkened.” Romans 1:21. Yet in His mercy God did not blot them out of existence. He purposed to give them an opportunity of again becoming acquainted with Him through His chosen people. Through the teachings of the sacrificial service, Christ was to be uplifted before all nations, and all who would look to Him should live. Christ was the foundation of the Jewish economy. The whole system of types and symbols was a compacted prophecy of the gospel, a presentation in which were bound up the promises of redemption. {AA 14.1}

But the people of Israel lost sight of their high privileges as God’s representatives. They forgot God and failed to fulfill their holy mission. The blessings they received brought no blessing to the world. All their advantages they appropriated for their own glorification. They shut themselves away from the world in order to escape temptation. The restrictions that God had placed upon their association with idolaters as a means of preventing them from conforming to the practices of the heathen, they used to build up a wall of separation between themselves and all other nations. They robbed God of the service He required of them, and they robbed their fellow men of religious guidance and a holy example. {AA 14.2}

What I get from this passage is that we are mission driven. We are not to isolate our-self from the world, as that goes against the mission purpose that God has given the church to do.

Hello Ian

I agree, isolation leads to "group think," which suspends critical thinking and robs the organization of individual God given gifts.
