THE SANCTUARY AND THE STATUTES

There are more than 600 statutes in the Bible. These statutes are not shadowy precepts to be nailed to the cross. They are binding forever unto eternity.

The statutes, along with the commandments are found in the books of Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers and Deuteronomy. For further study, please check my website: www.numbers1317.org -file 19.

OLD TESTAMENT: TEACH STATUTES AND JUDGMENTS
"Now therefore hearken, O Israel, unto the statutes and unto the
judgments which I teach you, for to do them, that ye may live and go in
and possess the land which the Lord God of your fathers giveth you.

SIMILAR WARNING AS REVELATION 22:18, 19
Ye shall not add unto the word which I command you, neither shall ye
diminish ought from it, that ye may keep the commandments of the Lord
your God which I command you:

Behold, I have taught you statutes and judgments, even as the Lord my God commanded me, that ye should do so in the land whither ye go to
possess it.

STATUTES AND JUDGMENTS TO BUILD A GREAT NATION
Keep therefore and do them; for this is your wisdom and your
understanding in the sight of the nations, which shall hear all these
statutes, and say, Surely this great nation is a wise and understanding
people. For what nation is there so great, who hath God so nigh unto
them, as the Lord our God is in all things that we call upon him for?
And what nation is there so great, that hath statutes and judgments so
righteous to all this law, which I set before you this day?"
Deuteronomy 4:1-8.

TEACH COMMANDMENTS, STATUTES AND JUDGMENTS
"But as for thee, stand thou here by me, and I will speak unto thee all
the commandments, and the statutes and the judgments, which thou shalt
teach them, that they may do them in the land which I give them to
possess it. Ye shall observe to do therefore as the LORD your God hath
commanded you: "Ye shall walk in all the ways which the LORD your God
hath commanded you." Deuteronomy 5:31-33.


GOD GAVE MOSES JUDGMENTS AND LAWS IN ADDITION TO THE TEN COMMANDMENTS

He did not even then trust His precepts to the memory of a people who
were prone to forget His requirements, but wrote them upon tables of
stone. He would remove from Israel all possibility of mingling heathen
traditions with His holy precepts, or of confounding His requirements
with human ordinances or customs. But He did not stop with giving them
the precepts of the Decalogue. The people had shown themselves so
easily led astray that He would leave no door of temptation unguarded.
Moses was commanded to write, as God should bid him, judgments and laws
giving minute instruction as to what was required.

PRINCIPLES OF THE TEN COMMANDMENTS AMPLIFIED
These directions relating to the duty of the people to God, to one
another, and to the stranger were only the principles of the Ten
Commandments amplified and given in a specific manner, that none need
err. They were designed to guard the sacredness of the ten precepts
engraved on the tables of stone."

THE STATUTES WERE GIVEN TO GUARD THE TEN COMMANDMENTS
"In consequence of continual transgression, the moral law was repeated
in awful grandeur from Sinai. Christ gave to Moses religious precepts
which were to govern the everyday life. These statutes were explicitly
given to guard the ten commandments. They were not shadowy types to
pass away with the death of Christ. They were to be binding upon man in
every age as long as time should last. These commands were enforced by
the power of the moral law, and they clearly and definitely explained
that law.

CHRIST IS THE AUTHOR OF THE STATUTES AND PRECEPTS
They cast aside the restraint of the law, and give loose rein to the
corrupt passions and the prompting of the natural heart, and then
triumph in the mercy and grace of the gospel. Christ speaks to such:
"Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the
kingdom of Heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in
Heaven." What is the will of the Father? That we keep his commandments.
Christ, to enforce the will of his Father, became the author of the
statutes and precepts given through Moses to the people of God.
Christians who extol Christ, but array themselves against the law
governing the Jewish church, array Christ against Christ."

SATAN HAS PERVERTED THE DOCTRINES OF THE BIBLE
"In seeking to cast contempt upon the divine statutes, Satan has
perverted the doctrines of the Bible, and errors have been incorporated

of the long standing controversy concerning the law of God. Upon this
battle we are now entering - a battle between the laws of men and the
precepts of Jehovah, between the religion of the Bible and the religion

could not be changed to meet man in his fallen condition, that Christ
clothed His divinity with humanity, and came to our world to take upon

"The light esteem in which the law of God is held, even by religious

which has become so wide-spread that the divine statutes are no longer
binding upon men, is the same as idolatry in its
effect upon the morals of the people. Those who seek to lessen the claims of
God's holy law are striking directly at the foundation
of the government of families and nations. Religious parents, failing to
walk in his statutes, do not command their household to
keep the way of the Lord. The law of God is not made the rule of life. The
children, as they make homes of their own, feel under no
obligation to teach their children what they themselves have never been
taught. And this is why there are so many godless families;
this is why depravity is so deep and wide-spread.

As I look at the material you have gathered together Odette, I find myself wondering something.

In Deut 16, where Israel is being instructed about the feast-days, the words are included : "and thou shalt observe and do these statutes." (16:12)

Do you advocate the literal observance of the feast-days, in accordance with the statutes?

Statutes means: meant to be kept.

How to keep them depend on the 2 poles of truth: some have no longer a physical value but their spiritual value remains; while some, their spiritual value may not be as evident but their physical value are for us today as well as for the Israelites. While during the Feasts, the sacrifices and offerings as mentioned in Numbers 28 and 29, and Leviticus 23, are no longer of any value since CHrist is the utimate sacrifice, His Final Atonement is still in process in the Most Holy Place in heaven. We are still waiting for the Loud Cry to be given and Tabernacles to be fulfilled with His Second Coming. We are also expecting a Greater outporing of the Holy Spirit than at the first Pentecost, combining the Early and Latter Rain, to finish His work.

We cannot nail these wonderful appointed times at the cross since they are our guideposts, our map to follow our Savior in the sanctuary above and towards His soon coming to take us Home.

* Returning Tithes is a statute that protects the commandment: THOU SHALL NOT STEAL (Lev. 27)

Psalm 81: 3,4 says: Blow up a trumpet in the new moon, in the time appointed, on our solemn feast day. For this was a statute for Israel, and a law of the God of Jacob.`` Moses was not the first one to be instructed about the statutes and the appointed times. They were not Moses appointed times, but the Lord and this why, Joseph knew about them, and Jacob and Isaac and Abraham, and Noah and before the flood, Adam.

"Adam taught his descendants the law of God, and it was handed down from father to son through successive generations. But notwithstanding the gracious provision for man's redemption, there were few who accepted it and rendered obedience. By transgression the world became so vile that it was necessary to cleanse it by the Flood from its corruption. Many would like to believe that these particular statutes of the Appointed Times were nailed to the cross. Or all the statutes were nailed to the cross. It is the same as saying: We are saved by grace and no need to add work. But observing the statutes is not work, we are keeping them for our good through His grace.

And we cannot choose and pick what is convenient or not:

In Lev. 23:14, 21, 31, 41, is mentioned the appointed times are statutes. Not once, not twice, but 4 times out of 7 Feasts. When the Lord repeat Himself we are told by the prophet, we should listen. He means what He says.

One thing I would like to say, is that even if you were to say openly, "I advocate the observance of the feast days", I would not seek to stone you. I would not have myself among that number which begins to smite their fellowservants, saying, "Come, and let us smite [her] with the tongue, and let us not give heed to any of [her] words." (Jer 18:18)

Let us speak as openly as we can, for in the fear of the Lord is strong confidence.

I solemnly declare that the calendar restoration based on the Barley Harvest Mosaic Law and given to the Millerites in the 1800’s era, was a gift directly from Heaven. At the time of the end, we will keep the Sabbath more fully from Genesis 2:1-3 to Leviticus 23 and Numbers 28, 29. Many try to keep the Sabbath of Creation (before sin) without taking the steps of the sanctuary as prescribed through Leviticus 23 and Numbers 28, 29: the great calendar salvation plan to solve the problem of sin.

Then the earth will keep her Sabbatical Year and her Jubilee. Maranatha! Come our Savior, come!

What has changed between the Old and New is the blood offered: from the goat and lamb to Christ blood the true Lamb of God.

What has changed to is the writing of the His on table of Stones which He always intended to write on our heart but because of rebellion, He needs to finish this work in us.

Perfect righteousness - perfect doing which can only be obtained through Christ and in Christ. He is the way to the Father just like the sanctuary is the way because in the sanctuary we find His mission, His plan of redemption which is still in process and will only be finished when sin and sinners are eradicated.

We are still in need of the sanctuary lessons to teach those who are coming to Him and will be teaching it unto eternity to the other worlds to demonstrate God`s Infinite Love towards a fallen, disobedient world who needed forgiveness and mercy.

The Statutes including His Sabbaths are eternal and will be kept by a sinless universe.

I am saying that once the National Sunday Law is announced in the United States, it will then pass on to the universal Sunday law. But now is the time to prepare because we do not know when this event will take place. By then it will be too late to learn and practice these principles. I do not believe the judgment of the living is started, but the Sunday Law will be the signal of that judgement since it is the test for the people living upon the earth at that time.

But just like any test, we need now to prepare. God help us to be ready.
With regards to the following statute (Deut 21:18-22):

"If a man have a stubborn and rebellious son, which will not obey the voice of his father, or the voice of his mother, and that, when they have chastened him, will not hearken unto them:
Then shall his father and his mother lay hold on him, and bring him out unto the elders of his city, and unto the gate of his place;
And they shall say to the elders of his city, This our son is stubborn and rebellious, he will not obey our voice; he is a glutton, and a drunkard.
And all the men of his city shall stone him with stones, that he die: so shalt thou put evil away from among you; and all Israel shall hear, and fear.
And if a man have committed a sin worthy of death, and he be to be put to death, and thou hang him on a tree..."

Should we disobey this statute because the law of the land would condemn us?

If the statutes are still binding, do we live in obedience to this statute? Do we stand our ground, holding to the plea that we must obey God rather than man?
(All the while the body of the dead young man is hanging up as a public warning.)

Shall we selectively take the statutes, and say this one is acceptable, and this one is not?

The word rendered "statute" in the following Psalm is H2710 'choq', (or 'hoq' as you say).

"Take a psalm, and bring hither the timbrel, the pleasant harp with the psaltery. Blow... the trumpet in the new moon, in the time appointed, on our solemn feast day. For this was a statute for Israel, and a law of the God of Jacob." (Ps 81:2-4)

Is this literally to be applied? Should we literally be blowing the trumpet in the time of the new-moon? [I notice in v.4 that the word "was" is a supplied word.]


ANSWER: The prophet often used the expressin "give the trumpet a certain sound" in the light of the Loud Cry at the time of the end which corresponds to the giving of the 3rd and 4th Angels message of Rev. 14 repeated in Rev. 18.

Silver trumpets were used in Israel to call for a solem assembly, war, announcing the Sabbath at sunset etc. While I believe these trumpets were literal, giving the trumpet a certain sound is using our voices to carry the last offer of salvation as loud and far as we can, to a dying world before the time of the end.

Often during Holy Convocations, I have heard trumpet sound and sophar to call the people to assemble.

Response: I have a list of 636 statutes compiled and other books (not by me) and references of the statutes. Those more than 600 statutes are statutes and the precepts and judgments, testimonies etc. are part of another set of studies.

As for the question of divorce, I believe I have answered it in another reply.

The first resurection: was Christ
2nd would be the righteous who died in Christ
3rd could be the special one although I have always read: special res. and not 2nd or 3rd.
The 3rd usually refers to the res of the wicked to receive their punishment at the 3rd Coming. I supposed I call it 1st, 2nd, and 3rd because it corresponds to Jesus 1st, 2nd and 3rd. coming. Hope this answers.

When the Heavenly Father speaks about His law, testimony, statutes, commandments, judgments, He is not being repetitive. He is talking about different aspects of His Law which does not mean the same thing as many have thought. Here are a few definition and then I will address your interesting point:

THE WORD OF THE LORD

DEFINITIONS:
"The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple.
The statutes of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes.
The fear if the LORD is clean, enduring for ever: the judgments of the LORD are true and righteous altogether." Psalm 19: 7-9.

LAW:
Law (torah) occurs about 220 times in the Old Testament. It is perhaps unfortunate that "law" was chosen as the main translation of torah. The word is much broader than the legal implications that our word law might imply. The Jews refer to the first five books of the Old Testament as "the Torah." There is much more than legislation in these books, even in Exodus and Leviticus. The basic meaning of torah is "teaching" or "instruction." Because God loves humankind, He has given a body of teaching and laws so that we can know what He expects from us and how we should live.

TESTIMONY:
Testimony comes from the verb ud "to bear witness," and is used nine times in Psalm 119. The word suggests not only corroboration by testimony; but sometimes includes a warning as well. It is used in the Old Testament only with reference to God. His Word is His own testimony to Himself and, as such, should be accepted and acted upon.

PRECEPTS:
Precepts always appears in the plural; and its twenty-four occurrences are all in Psalms, twenty-one in Psalm 119 alone. The noun is derived from the verb paqad ("number," "reckon," "visit," "appoint," or "punish"). The precepts of God are those responsibilities that He has appointed for His people.

STATUTE:
Statute occurs 128 times and comes from the verb haqaq, "engrave" or "write." In ancient times, statutes were engraved on metal or stone so that people could read and keep them. Hoq is a general term for laws imposed by God or man. The most common Hebrew word to be used with hoq is shamar ("keep"). God's statutes are meant to be kept.

COMMANDMENTS:
Commandment is used to describe "the Ten Commandments" Exodus 24:12. The noun is derived from the verb tsawah, to "command" or "charge." God's command are an expression of His Person and nature. Psalm 119 teaches that these revelations of God's will are "faithful" or reliable (v. 86), "truth" (v. 151), and "righteousness" (v. 172). Psalm 19:8 say they are also "pure." If we really love our Lord, we will keep His commandments, and they will not be burdensome.

JUDGMENT:
Judgment is derived from the verb shaphat, "judge" or "govern," and occurs about four hundred times in the Old Testament, sixteen times in Psalm 119 alone. The general idea is one of justice or specific ordinances to promote justice. There are many distinct usages of the noun in both secular and religious laws. Each specific ordinance of the Pentateuch is called a mishpat (Leviticus 9:16; Deuteronomy 33:21).

WORD:
Word (dabar v.9) is one of the great words of the Bible. It is such an idiomatic word in the Old Testament that the King James translators needed 85 different English words to translate it. The noun comes from the verb "to say" or "speak." The main idea is that whatever God says is His word.

The Statutes are found in Genesis 1 and 2, such as the 8 laws of health: Trust in God, Exercise, Sunshine, Temperance, Water, Air, Rest and Nutrition. There is also statutes of agriculture, marriage, family, appointed times. all his divine institutions are in Genesis 1 and 2, in the beginning.

Or in Exodus, and Leviticus 3 (fat and blood), 10 (abstaining from alcohol and anything to alter the brain and mind ) 11 (clean and unclean animals without fat or blood), 12 (birth rules and cleansiness of woman) 13-15 (leprosy of skin, home, garments, cleansing of man and woman), 16, (Day of Atonement), 17-22 (More cleansing of body and purity), 23, 24, 25, (statutes of appointed times), 27 (tithes).

Notice how many times in Leviticus, the Lord said unto Moses: Speak unto the children of Israel and saith unto them, it is the Lord who spoke unto Moses for him to tell the children of Israel what He want them to do: OBEY ALL HIS COMMANDMENTS, STATUTES AND JUDGMENTS THAT THEY MAY LIVE IN THE LAND WHICH THE LORD WANTED TO GIVE THEM.

Then in Deuteronomy, Chapter 4, 5, and on to 28, and 29, read what the Lord will do if they will OBEY = Blessings and DISOBEY = Curses.

The example you use in Deut. 21: 18-22 is not a statute but the result of disobedience to the statute of obedience and submission to parent which protects the commandment: Honor thy mother and father that thy life may be prolonged.....

This rebellious son was facing the judgment that came from disobeying a statute which protects a commandment.

Now notice that Israel at that time was under a theocracy, meaning God was their LEADER and KING. The judgment came directly from God as long as they chose Him for their King.

When Israel asked for a king under Samuel, the Lord gave them their desires and the judgments became perverted by man. Today such punishment would not stand under our judiciary system, especially here in Canada, under the Child Protection Act, such rebellious son could call 911 and charge his parents instead and get them put to jail for breaking his rights. No, we could not apply such theocratic judgment today. But that`s what Deut, 21 is about, a judgment against the breach of a statute. Read all the blessings and curses of Deut. 28 and 29 and see if the Heavenly Father does not execute judgments even today,

God is not mocked. He still bless and punish, even though people claim His mercy and forget that He is also just and rightly so.

The bill of divorcement given by Moses because of the hardness of the heart of Israel is a direct result of the breach of the statutes on marriage and family. God hates divorce (Mal. 3) but for the sake of protecting the abandonned mother or father or children, God allowed Moses to give Israel bill of divorcement, But from the beginning it was not so. Gen, 2.

Those laws given because of hardness of their heart were not to punish without possibility of repentance. Through these numerous laws, God wanted His children to receive discipline, correction, come to repentance and return to Him.

Rules and Regulations, Statutory Laws and Commands form the base of an organized society. Only when ruled by tyrants do people suffer without really breaking these laws. But when under Heavenly Father governement, which we accept when we receive Christ as our personal Savior, and we are born and filled with His Spirit, His Commands are not grievous, because He fills us with His Power to obey them and we are one with Him in the Beloved.

To every one of His Commands, there is grace to obey. Can we blame Him when we willingly disobey that there is consequences. God has no pleasure in the death of His Creatures.

But this law was establish in Genesis 2: Obey and Live, Disobey and Die.

Behold I have given you good statutes and judgments and if you obey you shall live. ALLELUIA for a merciful and just Father.

What we need to recognize is: Is it a statute or a Judgment.

Judgment come from obedience to Commandments and Statutes Or Disobedience. Fair enough. He lays His rules, We still are left with the CHOICE.

We need to study His government if we plan to be with Him unto ETERNITY and start getting in line with it. Otherwise, very simple, we will be left behind indeed.

We will make it for the 3rd resurrection. God forbids, As for me and my house, we willl serve the Lord.

By the way I am divorced for the past 32 years and I hate it too. But in His mercy, I have been shown that in order to partake of His glory, we must first partake of His sufferings. Heavenly Father showed me that He also feels Betrayed, Abandoned and Denied His rights many times because of rebellion, sin, adultery, infidelity murder, all the bad things we commit against His wonderful character: His Law of Government. But He showed me that in the beginning it was not so. So 30 some years ago, I decided to remain single by His grace and repair the breach done in my family through divorce for the past 3 generations: grandparents, parents and myself. Prayer, fasting, abstinence, by His grace do repair these breaches done by disobedience in our life and the lives of others. The Word says so.

I am glad we can be partakers of His sufferings and share His burdens as He has shared ours. He has feeling too and I love my Daddy so much. Did you ever see His name which will be writen in the foreheads of His 144000: it is included in His true Sabbath: ABBA.

Q1.
The word rendered "statute" in the following Psalm is H2710 'choq', (or 'hoq' as you say).

"Take a psalm, and bring hither the timbrel, the pleasant harp with the psaltery. Blow... the trumpet in the new moon, in the time appointed, on our solemn feast day. For this was a statute for Israel, and a law of the God of Jacob." (Ps 81:2-4)

Is this literally to be applied? Should we literally be blowing the trumpet in the time of the new-moon? [I notice in v.4 that the word "was" is a supplied word.]

Q2.
Your opening sentence in this thread was, "There are more than 600 statutes in the Bible." Have you now qualified that thought? Effectively placing some of the 600+ statutes into other classes (i.e. precepts and judgments etc.)?
