London church holding conference to ‘cure’ homosexuality

The Seventh-day Adventist Church is hosting 'ex-gay' activists The Seventh-day Adventist Church is hosting 'ex-gay' activists

A church in London is to host a number of ‘ex-gay’ activists who have attempted to ‘cure’ people of homosexuality.

The Seventh-day Adventist Church – is planning to host a 5-day ‘Holy Sexuality Conference’ later this month, at which a number of people who have purportedly ‘healed’ their sexuality will speak.

A listing for the event claims: “Those who attend the conference will be able to hear the powerful stories and journeys of individuals who have gained victory and healing from same-sex attraction and are now faithful Seventh-Day Adventist Christians.

“This conference will be invaluable for those who are struggling with their sexuality or for those who wish to find out more about issues surrounding sexuality and same sex attraction to reach out to others.”

i hope the conference will bring out many factors that helps becoming whole for Everyone! To take on this massive undertaking Thru The HOLY SPIRIT must be this...

:)

1. Can LGBTQIAA be out and loved in The Body of Christ?

2. Is  the Church  safe and transparent among their own?

3.Will heterosexuals be willing to be up close and personal with their struggles- particularly about their own broken sexuality?

4. Are its own members healing with forgiveness and grace from the Body (u and me) and Jesus Christ?

5.Do they reflect JESUS's open door policy of Come As You Are and with the Spirit of self Sacrifice (ego, fear, ignorance, paranoia)and be an accepting friend to them  ?

6.Will they be there when u fall( Seven times Seventy) ? .. love on you just as much with no judgement/no condemnation nor comparison(just like from God) ?

7.If gays don't turn  straight (according to the peoples expectations or timing) -will they still be able to be part of the Body of Christ just like Heteros who haven't  reached Total Sanctification yet also?

OH BOY now a conference for Gays. Seems like WO and Justification of Gays are going together. As we have seen all Churches going down the track of ordaining women does follow with Gay Marriage and ordaining Gays as pastors as well. Where is this going to end? EGW Says this:

The enemy of souls has sought to bring in the supposition that a great reformation was to take place among Seventh-day Adventists, and that this reformation would consist in giving up the doctrines which stand as the pillars of our faith, and engaging in a process of reorganization. Were this reformation to take place, what would result? The principles of truth that God in His wisdom has given to the remnant church, would be discarded. Our religion would be changed. The fundamental principles that have sustained the work for the last fifty years would be accounted as error. A new organization would be established. Books of a new order would be written. A system of intellectual philosophy would be introduced. The founders of this system would go into the cities, and do a wonderful work. The Sabbath of course, would be lightly regarded, as also the God who created it. Nothing would be allowed to stand in the way of the new movement. The leaders would teach that virtue is better than vice, but God being removed, they would place their dependence on human power, which, without God, is worthless. Their foundation would be built on the sand, and storm and tempest would sweep away the structure. {1SM 204.2}

Lazarus did you se the x in front of the gay?  ex-gay's sharing testimony?  Do we hope that God can save us from our sin.

Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool. Isaiah 1:8.

Yes Raymond I did see it But I do not Buy it. Leaving oneself in harms way of sin. Its like playing with a rattle snake it will get you sooner or later. As far as I know the Bible says flee from sin, not play with it.

Lazarus, everyone can see that you don't like MFG.  Between the hatred and obsessiveness it doesn't matter what he says you will dog it. You don't have a clear head, you don't have your eyes open. Because of that your witness is nil, every time you type we will take it as a grain of salt, no credibility.

Good that he has some friends that defend him to the hilt.

sanctification is lifetime.

you said: "7.If gays don't turn  straight (according to the peoples expectations or timing) -will they still be able to be part of the Body of Christ just like Heteros who haven't  reached Total Sanctification yet also?"

how much time do you believe you will need to overcome this sin?

hi Timber

GBU

i am happy as always to see u and standing up for me

cause we do know each other

and we know each others lives

but i must say when  i read your post  i was sad

sad it had to be brought out like this

sad this is how it is

no matter what i say ... a brother attacks

*

be ye kind to one another as Christ is toward u

but i must say when  i read your post  i was sad

sad it had to be brought out like this

Me also.

I never have understood why people hope others fail, trip, fall,  get hurt, and then go to hell in a blaze for ever.

Is it not Christ like to want to see people find God and become His and live in His image?

Sad.

The meme you have above is a discussion in itself.  God values us more than we value ourselves.  I know that I look down on some people who make my life difficult but it is a sin to do this because God has paid with his blood for them and for me and invests much time to save us.

I must admit this intrigued me enough to want to attend, particularly as I mistakenly thought the list of questions was something to do with it (I didn't read carefully enough to realise that they were your questions, MFG).

I was somewhat disappointed (selfish, I know) to find out that the event was sold out. I was in the process of considering whether I would phone the pastor of that church, whom I know, to inveigle myself into the meetings when I noticed this, I quote:

Hi,

Please note that the Holy Sexuality Conference has been cancelled. Please read the statement below.

Cancellation of 'Holy Sexuality' Conference 21-25 April 2015

A decision was taken on Monday, 13 April to cancel the 'Holy Sexuality' Conference originally planned for London, 21-25 April 2015.

Seventh-day Adventists are a people of peace who believe in hope and dialogue. However, it appeared that rather than drawing people together the conference had the potential to divide. The Adventist Church recognises that the individuals invited to speak at the Holy Sexuality Conference have compelling life stories to share but equally appreciate that there are those who take a different point of view.

We are disappointed that in a society that values freedom of speech and divergence of opinion that there are those whose wish it is to silence individuals who hold a different point of view to their own.  We do not believe that the potential disruptions that were being planned for this event would have been beneficial either to the participants or to our friends in the LGBT community.  As such a decision has been made to cancel the event which had been locally organised by a group of members in the South London area.

The Adventist Church strongly subscribes to a belief in freedom of speech. This also includes the freedom to hold different views. The Seventh-day Adventist Church seeks to minister to all men and women in the spirit of Jesus, recognising that every human being is valuable in the sight of God.

As a Bible believing Church, the Seventh-day Adventist Church affirms the dignity of all human beings, and as a Church is well known for its commitment to community work both globally and locally in London.

I will find out what the problem was but just looking at this cancellation notice troubles me greatly as it appears to suggest that there was an organised opposition that has shut down free speech. A friend of mine (ex-gay, now SDA pastor) has a very powerful testimony on how he overcame and I was assuming that we would be treated to many such testimonies over the time of the event. Very worrying... although I have a suspicion that I know what has happened. Need to make some phone calls...
