SHOULD S.D.A CONTINUE TO ADOPT THE  PHRASE " TRINITY " TO DESCRIBE THE GODHEAD,KNOWING THAT THE CATHOLIC'S UNDERSTANDING OR BELIEF ON THIS SUBJECT DIFFER FROM OURS, AND THEY WERE THE FIRST TO USE THIS TERM ?

No....The Father, The Son, and the Holy Spirit.

 

Trinity, I think, is defined as 3 in 1.

 

Adrian Ebens:  In the year of 2007, through a series of providential events, I was convicted that the doctrine of the Trinity as expressed in the 28 Fundamentals of Seventh-day Adventists could not be supported by Scripture and is in fact a violation of the Commandments of God, most notably the first four commandments.

From my study of Scripture and prayer I found that God had laid a solid foundation for the Adventist movement through the conviction of its leaders that Jesus is in fact the very Son of God, not in symbol but in reality. I learnt that God is indeed the Father of Jesus and that Christ has received everything that He possesses by inheritance. In having this Son, I have found with great joy that I have life and have it abundantly.

I was also convicted that my belief in the Trinity as expressed in the 28 Fundamentals was offensive to God and the Spirit of repentance was given to me to confess my sin. I wept for this sin of breaking the Father’s commandments. I also realized my sin in teaching this false teaching to many people both in the churches I pastored and through the websites that I have developed.

 

After watching a few studies on the 'TRINITY' and it's orgin I am no to sure I believe in the 'TRINITY' as it stands now. I do not believe there is three in one. I believe in the father and his begotton son and the spirit,. From  scripture I do not believe that the spirit is a person.God is the father and Jesus is his begotton son. The trinity is from catholics. and if we really research we will find out E G WHITE AND THE POINEERS  did not believe in the TRINITY.

I am not sure how one can say that EGW didn't believe in the Trinity. In all my readings of her books ... she has it everywhere:

     "The Holy Spirit is a person, for He beareth witness with our spirits that we are the children of God. When this witness is borne, it carries with it its own evidence. At such times we believe and are sure that we are the children of God. ". .

I believe the people who believe the Trinity doctrine are flesh eaters Check yourselves an see. The same Spirit who is to lead us into all truth cannot penetrate our minds to impress the truth, cannot do so with flesh as our diet. If it's not this error it will be another.

Please disclose what you are and what you are not.

You are simply NOT a Seventh day Adventist if you don't believe in the Trinity.

It's amazing how, when at a time when we should be in one accord with all the doctrines of the Bible, we are seeing the many conflicting answers to simple statements. We are in the anti typical day of atonement and our minds should be in the 2nd apartment with Jesus. The Trinity is not a word to be used in Adventism because of the obvious meaning the catholics use it for. Another thing is that the word have one meaning and that's 3.' Hear O Israel our God'. When we say trinity we can only get 3, but when we say Godhead we get 1. This is one of the subtle way the devil attack the doctrines of the Bible. Jesus say that those who have eyes and ears will see and hear. The Godhead is one, not three. This the mystery of it. Keep that in mind

 

Susan .. you say Trinity is not to be used in Adventistm. Perhaps you should check out the second Fundamental Belief of Seventh day Adventists. I will quote it here for you. It is entitled "Trinity"  :

 

2. Trinity:
There is one God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, a unity of three co-eternal Persons. God is immortal, all-powerful, all-knowing, above all, and ever present. He is infinite and beyond human comprehension, yet known through His self-revelation. He is forever worthy of worship, adoration, and service by the whole creation. (Deut. 6:4; Matt. 28:19; 2 Cor. 13:14; Eph. 4:4-6; 1 Peter 1:2; 1 Tim. 1:17; Rev. 14:7.)

 

Makes me kinda wonder who is the real SDAs here and who are the offshoots. Well I guess the wondering is over and exposed.

Misrepresentations of the Godhead

    

Let People Know Our Position.--Our policy is, Do not make prominent the objectionable features of our faith, which strike most decidedly against the practices and customs of the people, until the Lord shall give the people a fair chance to know that we are believers in Christ, that we do believe in the divinity of Christ, and in His pre-existence.--Testimonies to Ministers, p. 253. (1895)  {Ev 613.2}
    

We Shall Have to Meet Erroneous Teaching.-- Again and again we shall be called to meet the influence of men who are studying sciences of satanic origin, through which Satan is working to make a nonentity of God and of Christ. The Father and the Son each have a personality. Christ declared, "I and My Father are one." Yet it was the Son of God who came to the world in human form. Laying aside His royal robe and kingly crown, He clothed His divinity with humanity, that humanity through His infinite sacrifice might become partakers of the divine nature, and escape the corruption that is in the world through lust.--Testimonies, vol. 9, p. 68. (1909)  {Ev 613.3}
    

Positive Truth Versus Spiritualistic Representations. --I am instructed to say, The sentiments of those who are searching for advanced scientific ideas are not to be trusted. Such representations as the following are made: "The Father is as the light invisible: the Son is as the light embodied; the Spirit is the light shed abroad." "The Father is like the dew, invisible vapor; the Son is like the dew gathered in beauteous form; the Spirit is like the dew fallen to the seat of life." Another representation: "The Father is like the invisible vapor; the Son is like the leaden cloud; the Spirit is rain fallen and working in refreshing power."  {Ev 614.1}
    

All these spiritualistic representations are simply nothingness. They are imperfect, untrue. They weaken and diminish the Majesty which no earthly likeness can be compared to. God cannot be compared with the things His hands have made. These are mere earthly things, suffering under the curse of God because of the sins of man. The Father cannot be described by the things of earth. The Father is all the fullness of the Godhead bodily, and is invisible to mortal sight.  {Ev 614.2}
    

The Son is all the fullness of the Godhead manifested. The Word of God declares Him to be "the express image of His person." "God so loved the world, that He gave His only-begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life." Here is shown the personality of the Father.  {Ev 614.3}

The Comforter that Christ promised to send after He ascended to heaven, is the Spirit in all the fullness of the Godhead, making manifest the power of divine grace to all who receive and believe in Christ as a personal Saviour. There are three living persons of the heavenly trio; in the name of these three great powers --the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit--those who receive Christ by living faith are baptized, and these powers will co-operate with the obedient subjects of heaven in their efforts to live the new life in Christ.-- Special Testimonies, Series B, No. 7, pp. 62, 63. (1905)  {Ev 615.1}
    

The Pre-existent, Self-existent Son of God.--Christ is the pre-existent, self-existent Son of God.... In speaking of his pre-existence, Christ carries the mind back through dateless ages. He assures us that there never was a time when He was not in close fellowship with the eternal God. He to whose voice the Jews were then listening had been with God as one brought up with Him.--Signs of the Times, Aug. 29, 1900.  {Ev 615.2}
    

He was equal with God, infinite and omnipotent. . . . He is the eternal, self-existent Son.--Manuscript 101, 1897.  {Ev 615.3}
    

From Everlasting.--While God's Word speaks of the humanity of Christ when upon this earth, it also speaks decidedly regarding His pre-existence. The Word existed as a divine being, even as the eternal Son of God, in union and oneness with His Father. From everlasting He was the Mediator of the covenant, the one in whom all nations of the earth, both Jews and Gentiles, if they accepted Him, were to be blessed. "The Word was with God, and the Word was God." Before men or angels were created, the Word was with God, and was God.--Review and Herald, April 5, 1906.  {Ev 615.4}
    

Christ shows them that, although they might reckon His life to be less than fifty years, yet His divine life could not be reckoned by human computation. The existence of Christ before His incarnation is not measured by figures.--Signs of the Times, May 3, 1899.  {Ev 616.1}
    

Life, Original, Unborrowed, Underived.--Jesus declared, "I am the resurrection, and the life." In Christ is life, original, unborrowed, underived. "He that hath the Son hath life." The divinity of Christ is the believer's assurance of eternal life.--The Desire of Ages, p. 530 (1898)  {Ev 616.2}
    

With the Father at Sinai.--When they [Israel] came to Sinai, He took occasion to refresh their minds in regard to His requirements. In Co-operation With the Three Highest Powers.-- We are to co-operate with the three highest powers in heaven,--the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost, --and these powers will work through us, making us workers together with God.--Special Testimonies, Series B, No. 7, p. 51. (1905)  {Ev 617.3}
