These scriptures seem to mean the opposite. Anyone have any enlightment on them?

This:

John 15:19 (New International Version)

19If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own. As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world. That is why the world hates you.

and this:

1 John 3:13 (New International Version)

13Do not be surprised, my brothers, if the world hates you.

versus this:

Luke 16:9 (New International Version)

9I tell you, use worldly wealth to gain friends for yourselves, so that when it is gone, you will be welcomed into eternal dwellings.

and

Acts 2:47 (New International Version)

47praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.

Hello Nicole,

The Luke 16:9 verse has to do with a manager who was getting fired for doing a bad job. That's how I remember it anyway.

But, being blessed with worldly riches isn't bad in and of itself, it's what you do with those riches. If you horde them and live to get more riches, you are foolish. If you use them to God's glory, then you would be wise! You put these resources to God's work, not into worldly concerns.

I hope I was clear.

God Bless,

Joe.
Hi Nicole.

This are the basics of any Christian follower of CHRIST. ''i am the way the truth and the light''. We live in this world way back since creation and now and till time to come when the obvious will happen(wheat and the tares).

meaning we should not let the worldly pleasures sway us away from the love of God,as is we can stand out as different people but in the right way.

The opposite is we are have to be part of the worldly happening but what stands out Christians is to what extent and capability do we handle the world pressure.

comment more after my research
