The short answer is YES. But how to be involved is another long answer. Our pathfinder club used to collect canned goods on Halloween. Anyways ... I am sure there are many good things that can be done. One of our churches had a fall festival on Halloween. We have to give our youth good options. Otherwise ... they will go for the bad. And there is always the bad out there to be found. Which do you want for our youth ... to be tricked ... or to treat them?
Do we have to wait on these occasions to do good. We have 365(6) days in a year that we can distrbute these types of items. Why should the world defined us to a specific day/s to do good. Anyhow halloween is a satanic ritual that includes witches and wizards and such like that God told us from the beginning, we should have nothing to do with. Therefore let us not trick our youths by treating them in being disobedient to God's stern warning corncerning wichcraft.
Our church has a hobo dinner, hay ride, and singing around the campfire.
It is a great idea to have wholesome activities for the children and other young people. What about treating them to some interactive Bible activities - great Bible games and some wholesome snacks.

I think a campfire is a bonfire. The word bonfire came from bone fire. Back in ancient time , people thought that the winter solstice brought in demons that they had to treat with human scarifice on a big fire, or else these demons would come into their homes and kill them. The fire had to be kept burning all winter so human bones ( later animal) kept burning in the bone fire, later called bonfire. We call it campfire. People would light from these bone fires to light up their homes, and thus be protected from evil spirits - or so they thought.
I agree with you whole heartedly we oftentimes used a lot of excuses to do things that we know we shouldn't,musing ourselves that we can bring something good from bad practices. Wasn't it Alexander the great that suggested to observed Sunday as a holy day and didn't he kept the sabbath as well. Then all of a sudden the whole world started to keep sunday instead of the sabbath. As fate will have it once you start playing with the devil's tricks, he entices/lure you and then take a strangle hold on you. Stop playing with fire for sooner than later you will be burned leave these worldly rituals in the world and proclaim the everlasting gospel to a dying world.
Dear all,

I would like everyone to go this site to get more information about Halloween.
Thanks Mr. Nicholas. This is exactly why we need to do as I said and provide something good to replace the bad or our youth will do the bad. We can't stick our heads in the sand any more.
I will tell you what our youth really needs, it is a closer relationship with God spending time just like what Jesus did when He walked on this earth. As we all know He never waver in His life nor did evil. So to our youths try spending quality time on your knees and in the word of God, for perilous times is on the horizon there is no time to play. For years I have been hearing as a child that we are in the "toe nail of time" My advice to the youth is to, seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you.
wow that is so gross never knew that it had so many information about that topic. Just reading about that alone made my stomach churned. Thanks anyhow for that information, I hope that ours sisters and brothers go to that site and understand the origins of halloween.
This is what is said in the site you suggested:

While it is true that trick-or-treat is no longer primarily about curses, it is about gluttony. Children go from house to house, filling grocery bags full of candy and then returning home to feast on their great treasure. Often, those who stay at home to hand out the candy consume great amounts of it themselves!

Even this element of Halloween, which in comparison might seem harmless, does nothing to glorify God. The Bible says that the body is the temple of the Holy Spirit. We should not be polluting that temple with food that clouds our perceptions and draws us away from God.

"Have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them" (Ephesians 5:11).

Satan is no doubt jubilant that such a large portion of this "Christian nation" views a holiday in his honor as something that is harmless fun. Could it be that by our carelessness, we are contributing to the extraordinary power Satan seems to have on October 31?

No matter how fun or exciting it may seem, Halloween is no celebration for a Christian. If we truly seek to glorify God, then how can we devote one day of the year to worshipping Satan? We can't.

The Bible says, "Ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvelous light" (1 Peter 2:9).

And it appears that Halloween tradition has no place in the life of Christians. Which is TRUE.
Just heard on the news that despite our poor economy ... Halloween spending is not expected to drop. They expect Halloween sales to reach $6 Billion. Perhaps Halloween will stimulate the economy.
That is exactly the same way in which the devil works, controlling all the moneys of this earth and controlling people minds(bewitching) them. Just around the corner there is another pagan festival and the same thing will happen people will spend one again what they don't have.
This is one of the temptations that he used when Jesus was in the wilderness offering the whole world if He bowed down to him.
The word of God says, Do not store up treasure where moth and rust doth corrupt, but lay up treasures in heaven.
I am not too interested with what this world have to offer. So recession or not, $6.billion or $6. trillion don't move me in no way,in fact I can't carry a red cent with me when I die, only my character and that will judge me on the final day. What I will like, is to stimulate us as christians that time is near to an end and we are to prepare ourselves to meet Him in the air. Alluding to the fact that the time of persecuton is upon us. Let us be ready, watching and praying unceasingly.
