What should you do with a person who has brutally murdered a member of your family?

My nephew tried to enjoy himself at a beach in the Philippines. He ended up missing. They found him that night, buried in sand. They know who did it, because the murderers gave his sister the victim's shirt, before they found the body. They broke his neck, put rocks inside his mouth, and put a harpoon through his head. It really hurt our entire family. He didn't do anything wrong, he didn't make any trouble, but they did that anyway. Do we forgive the murderers, and how do we handle the pain?

I am so sorry, Nenita! That must be so sad and hard to deal with! The thing that comes to my mind are the words of Jesus when he was nailed to the cross. " Father forgive them for the know not what they do." This, of course, is totally impossible without Christ in our life! They do need to be punished for the crime or others will be hurt also but by the grace of God you can have peace in your heart and pray for them. We are praying for you and your family, Nenita. God be with you. Lean on Him and He will help you get through this hard time...We love you.
Thanks Katrina for being there for me. I have been crying all the time. Yes, it's so hard everytime I look at my children and how much I love them and my nephew is like my very own son too. Everytime I see some teenagers that seem the same age of my nephew, I just can't hold my tears. Please pray for me and my family in the Philippines. It's very hard for us to handle, and hard to understand . Thanks again Katrina.
Hello Nenita,
I was shocked when I read your discussion post and would like to offer my deepest sympathy too. Katrina has written a very good reply - only Christ can help you forgive and be sure to lean on God in this difficult time. I would like to leave you with a well-known, but very true bible quote: 1 Peter 5,3 - Cast all your cares upon Him, for he cares for you.
God bless you and be with you.
Thanks Hermione, I really needed those comforting words. Yes, God cares no matter what. It made me pray more for Jesus coming back soon so that I don't have to suffer in this troubled world. please pray for my sister Linda and her Husband Antonio Lacay and our entire family and please pray for my desire to send some Missionary there so that everybody will know about the love of God..
Hi Nenita

at this time my heart and prays goes out to your family during this time
Christ is the only answer to taking your pain away at this time like 1 peter 5..........Cast all your cares upon him for he cares for you! God is faithful and true to his word..............

Don't give up Nenita stay Faithful

and remember " Why worrying when you can pray" the Battle is not ours BUT THE LORDS!
Thanks for your prayer Sis Cherry. Yes, I was very shocked too. I can't believe people can do these terrible things to someone who is kind and didn't do any thing bad to his fellow human beings. Even now, it seems to me that I have a bundle of cotton inside my throat. It's so hard to swallow. Thank God we are just passing through this world that is full of darkness. I'm looking forward for Jesus coming back so that we all have peace of mind forever and there will be no more tears and sadness. Please continue to pray for us.
Thats Terrible Sis...
But only God can judge and Only Him can Heal the bruise and pain that the vile and evil environment can do to us...
Trying to forgive seems so impossible to do..cause, that's human tendency...its hard, but through Him who had experience the same, raven His side and put thorns on His head..but still have forgiven them...only by looking at Him can we have the idea that forgiving and forgetting is possible.

hope this will give a little inspiration to you sis..
God Bless..
1 Peter 5:8 "Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour" I'm glad the word of God reminds us to be sober and vigilant.

Thanks brother for taking your time to encourage me by the word of God. Please continue to pray for us. It's hard but by the Grace of God we can overcome these trials in life. My 11 year old son told me that God loves the sinner but not the sins, so we just forgive. Only by the grace of God we can do it. We need more prayer.
Nenita, I pray that God will comfort you and that you will keep in your heart the blessed hope that we have, not only to see Jesus but to be reunited with our loved ones.

It is always a desire to make sense out of the senseless and what you see in this terrible act is the results of satan and his sin ravaging this world. I doubt that you will ever be able to understand this act.

Perhaps you and your family may be able to use this to sterengthen your resolve to meet together on the sea of glass.

May God bless you and comfort you.
Thanks John. Your comforting words mean so much for me in this trying time. God is the source of everything. Someday we will be able to understand why it happened and I hope and pray that we will all see our loved ones in our heavenly home. I hope we will see the rainbow after the rain. Please continue to pray for us.
Hi Nenita

I want to offer my sympathies to you and his parents. I hope that this text and poem will somehow help.

Jesus Whispers
Jesus whispers, "I am with you,
In the sunshine, in the cloud;
When the spirit is exalted,
When the stricken head is bowed"

Jesus whispers, "I am with you,
In the battle everyday;
Standing by you in the conflict,
Going with you all the way."

Jesus whispers, "I am with you,
In the hour of deepest need;
When the way is dark and lonesome,
I am with you, I will lead."

Jesus whispers, "I am with you,
With you still what ever betide;
In the sunshine or the shadow,
I am ever at your side."

Isaiah 41:10, "Fear thou not, for I am with thee; be not dismayed, for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea I will help thee: yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness."

I hope this helps you as you pray that God remove the anger and help your family through the grief. I pray that God will be your Comfort, your Peace, your Counsellor, your Healer.

God loves you. Trust Him.
Hi Esther,

Thanks for your sympathy, the wonderful poem, and the Bible text. Yes, only God can heal, and He's the source of peace and comfort. In behalf of my family in the Phillipines, I just want to say Thank you very much. Please continue to pray for us.
