What was Jesus Gospel?

The gospel of Jesus, one in which he preached himself, was not a message about him, but a message about the Father's own vision.

Mark 1:14

And after that John was delivered up, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God, 15And saying: The time is accomplished, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent, and believe the gospel.

Repent and believe the good news about the coming kingdom of God.  This is the same kingdom he admonished his disciple to pray for.

Matthew 6:9

So then, this is how you should pray: ‘Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your name, 10Your kingdom come, Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.

Jesus message is the good news of God's coming kingdom. God’s Will, will be done on earth as it is done now in heaven.

Surely this is good news!  It’s not about human being going to heaven, it’s about the kingdom of God administering the Will of God in earth so all the world can see.

Human being need this, it will be the greatest news ever!  But how will the kingdom of God be administered, and who will administer it?  The book of Daniel gives us some insight on this and says,

Daniel 7:27

And the kingdom and dominion, and the greatness of the kingdom under the whole heaven, shall be given to the people of the saints of the most High, whose kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and all dominions shall serve and obey him.

The greatness of the kingdoms under all of heaven (not in heaven) will be delivered to the people of the holy ones of the Most High.

When the kingdom of God comes, at the second coming, the holy ones of the Most High will administer the will of God in all the earth, for all the kingdoms under all of heaven will be delivered to the people of the holy ones of the Most High.

Satan is the god of this world now, but Jesus has prophesied his future.

John 12:31

Now judgment is upon this world; now the prince of this world will be cast out.

This hasn’t happened yet, but Jesus say when it does the prince of this world will be cast out. It will happen when Jesus come.

Psalm 96:11

Let the heavens rejoice, and let the earth be glad; let the sea roar, and the fullness thereof.12Let the field be joyful, and all that is in it: then shall all the trees of the wood rejoice 13Before the LORD: for he comes, for he comes to judge the earth: he shall judge the world with righteousness, and the people with his truth.

The whole creation understands the gospel of Jesus, so should we!

The time is accomplished, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent, and believe the gospel!

To God be the glory.  He sent his son to show us the way, God's will for us all.  No matter what we or others may think of ourselves we all need God's grace.  Jesus displayed his loyalty and fealty to the Father throughout his life.  I think one of those highlighted moments was when he didn't let the enthusiasm of John the baptist blind him from doing the will of our Father.  John meant well but the way Jesus handled the symbolic action of baptism speak volumes.

Matthew 3

13 Then comes Jesus from Galilee to Jordan to John, to be baptized of him.

14 But John forbade him, saying, I have need to be baptized of you, and come you to me?

15 And Jesus answering said to him, Suffer it to be so now: for thus it becomes us to fulfill all righteousness. Then he suffered him.

16 And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, see, the heavens were opened to him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting on him:

17 And see a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.

The time is accomplished" what does this mean?

Gene you are not taking into consideration the whole picture. You cannot just take a few verses and run with it to form a doctrine. We have proven this gospel false many times here. There is no need to keep on posting this false doctrine here on an Adventist site. We don't believe it and never will. You may be able to fool those who don't study their bibles but not here. It is strange that you keep believing this after all these years. Why do you hold to this doctrine so tenaciously?

You said: "When the kingdom of God comes, at the second coming, the holy ones of the Most High will administer the will of God in all the earth, for all the kingdoms under all of heaven will be delivered to the people of the holy ones of the Most High."

At the second coming all the wicked will die.

“Behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to give to every one according to his work”

“With the breath of His lips He shall slay the wicked” (Isaiah 11:4).

“At that day the slain of the Lord shall be from one end of the earth even to the other end of the earth” (Jeremiah 25:33).

Also the bible said:

13 And now, dear brothers and sisters, we want you to know what will happen to the believers who have died[f] so you will not grieve like people who have no hope. 14 For since we believe that Jesus died and was raised to life again, we also believe that when Jesus returns, God will bring back with him the believers who have died.

15 We tell you this directly from the Lord: We who are still living when the Lord returns will not meet him ahead of those who have died.[g]16 For the Lord himself will come down from heaven with a commanding shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trumpet call of God. First, the believers who have died[h] will rise from their graves. 17 Then, together with them, we who are still alive and remain on the earth will be caught up in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. Then we will be with the Lord forever. 18 So encourage each other with these words. 1 Thessalonians 4

And

They had not worshiped the beast or his statue, nor accepted his mark on their foreheads or their hands. They all came to life again, and they reigned with Christ for a thousand years.

This is the first resurrection. (The rest of the dead did not come back to life until the thousand years had ended.) Blessed and holy are those who share in the first resurrection. For them the second death holds no power, but they will be priests of God and of Christ and will reign with him a thousand years. Revelation 20

I'm confused why all the drama?  I'm guessing you're saying Gene's post is a doomsday type prediction or possibly some carry over from a different thread I'm not aware of?

For now I'm just taking the scriptures he posted as examples of Jesus Christ doing the will of God the Father.

Luke 2

46 And it came to pass, that after three days they found him in the temple, sitting in the midst of the doctors, both hearing them, and asking them questions.

47 And all that heard him were astonished at his understanding and answers.

48 And when they saw him, they were amazed: and his mother said unto him, Son, why hast thou thus dealt with us? behold, thy father and I have sought thee sorrowing.

49 And he said unto them, How is it that ye sought me? wist ye not that I must be about my Father's business?

Other than that I think the bible was clear regarding time tables and I personally don't worry about the judgement of the wicked/saints since that's God's realm of judgement. I just hope & pray all recognize the will of God as Jesus Christ taught.

1 Thessalonians 5

For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night.

5 Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness.

Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober.

For they that sleep sleep in the night; and they that be drunken are drunken in the night.

But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation.

For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ,

10 Who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with him.

11 Wherefore comfort yourselves together, and edify one another, even as also ye do.

We aren't perfect but should always strive to do the will of God.  I believe that goal becomes eternal once we have fully accepted it in our hearts.

Rabbit,

My world view or my view of the coming world system by the second coming of Jesus is filled with hope prosperity for the inhabitants of the earth.  Whereas the view that is advocated by my brethren here is filled with gloom and doom.  Jesus message was good news of the kingdom of God; but what is that kingdom? They don't know.

The drama is that Jason and Elijah doesn’t know what the good news (gospel) of the kingdom is as preached by Jesus, and because I do understand this, they wish to accuse be of advocating a false teaching.  I’m only trying to share the good news.

The second coming of Christ is the blessed hope of the church, the grand climax of the gospel. The Saviour's coming will be literal, personal, visible, and worldwide. When He returns, the righteous dead will be resurrected, and together with the righteous living will be glorified and taken to heaven, but the unrighteous will die. The almost complete fulfilment of most lines of prophecy, together with the present condition of the world, indicates that Christ's coming is imminent. The time of that event has not been revealed, and we are therefore exhorted to be ready at all times.—Fundamental Beliefs, 24 (25)

Let me share one text where Jesus made it clear what will happen when he comes back

Mat 25:31 When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory:
Mat 25:32 And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats:
Mat 25:33 And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left.
Mat 25:34 Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:
Mat 25:35 For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in:
Mat 25:36 Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me.
Mat 25:37 Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink?
Mat 25:38 When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee?
Mat 25:39 Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee?
Mat 25:40 And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.
Mat 25:41 Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:
Mat 25:42 For I was an hungred, and ye gave me no meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink:
Mat 25:43 I was a stranger, and ye took me not in: naked, and ye clothed me not: sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not.
Mat 25:44 Then shall they also answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto thee?
Mat 25:45 Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me.
Mat 25:46 And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.

I ask you where in this text you see the second chance that you are promoting?

Elijah,

What is being presented here is an outline or preview of what will take place.  Jesus will be king over all the earth, he will sit on his throne of glory at his coming. There are those who will reign with him and those who will not.  Those living will live under the kingdom of God, those not living,  will not live again until the thousand years have ended; these will be judged in the great white throne judgment.  Whosoever not found in the Lamb's book of Life will be cast into the lake of fire.

Jason,

With the breath of His lips He shall slay the wicked (Isaiah 11:4).

The assumption that is being made with this is that “the wicked” are human beings. But it is not speaking of human beings, it is speaking of spiritual wickedness which engulf this world.

1 John 5:19 And we know that we are of God, and the whole world lies in wickedness.

This wickedness is because of Satan.

Aramaic Bible in Plain English

We know that we are from God, and the whole world lies in The Evil One.

The Evil Ones is wicked, and that wicked will be destroyed by the brightness of his coming.  Human beings who have aligned themselves with Satan will destroyed.

Human beings are not necessarily wicked.  Was Adam and Eve wicked?  The human race, for the most part are misguided, and this again is why the kingdom of God is good news!

Psalm 67:3Let the peoples praise You, O God; Let all the peoples praise You. 4Let the nations be glad and sing for joy; For You will judge the peoples with uprightness And guide the nations on the earth.

The second chance doctrine is not biblical and is similar to the teaching of Hinduism. It's basically a doctrine of salvation by works since one has to make himself righteous after death.

Everyone will be judged based on what they know since everyone has some level of 'light', there is no 'in between'.

“That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.” John 1:9

One is either on God's side or not. There are many bible text to prove this point.

Psalm 19:1-4 “The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament showeth his handy work...There is no speech nor language, where their voice is not heard. Their line is gone out through all the earth and their words to the end of the world.”

"Do not marvel at this; for an hour is coming, in which all who are in the tombs will hear His voice, and will come forth; those who did the good deeds to a resurrection of life, those who committed the evil deeds to a resurrection of judgment. John 5:28,29

After death is judgement, no second chance...

“It is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment.” Hebrews 9:27

No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon. Matthew 6:24

Gene, you do not give up on this second chance Gospel, do you? I know HW Armstrong WWCOG has broken and split up. The one thing you need to understand is God's Church will stand forever. So when God split the WWCOG you need to understand that it was happening for a reason Including false doctrines like the second chance Gospel, that you seem to hang on to. The other thing with this is as Jason points out you will not get anyone here to listen to your false gospel.

Elijah,

Whether you listen or believe it doesn't matter, its gonna happen; the kingdom of God is coming.  I chose to believe it is a real kingdom, and just as Satan rule over this world now, the kingdom of God will rule this world in the new age.

Revelation 11:15 Then the seventh angel sounded his trumpet, and loud voices called out in heaven: "The kingdom of the world is now the kingdom of our Lord and of His Christ, and He will reign forever and ever."

Gene whoever baptized you into the SDA church made a big mistake as you have no understanding of the SDA doctrines Like this one on Christs second coming:

The second coming of Christ is the blessed hope of the church, the grand climax of the gospel. The Saviour's coming will be literal, personal, visible, and worldwide. When He returns, the righteous dead will be resurrected, and together with the righteous living will be glorified and taken to heaven, but the unrighteous will die. The almost complete fulfilment of most lines of prophecy, together with the present condition of the world, indicates that Christ's coming is imminent. The time of that event has not been revealed, and we are therefore exhorted to be ready at all times.—Fundamental Beliefs, 24 (25)

Elijah,

Is this the good news, Jesus is coming back just to save the church? Do you really understand the purpose of the church? Of course, you know the church (saints) shall judge the world, but do you know what that mean?

“To him who is victorious and keeps my works, I shall give authority over the nations,” He will rule them with an iron scepter, shattering them like clay pots; as I also have received of my Father:

The nations (people) of the world will be governed by the saint of God as  the church reign with Christ.  This is no more than what Daniel tells us.

Daniel 7:27And the kingdom and dominion, and the greatness of the kingdom under the whole heaven, shall be given to the people of the saints of the most High, whose kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and all dominions shall serve and obey him.
