Permalink Reply by teresa on February 1, 2012 at 9:30pm I posted the wrong series first.
This 2 parter should have been viewed first for the above to make sense.
What do you think of this perspective?

Jesus had to come to this world, join the human race and die, because He is divine love. His love would not allow him to remain in heaven where it was safe and comfortable when His people were being decieved and dying on planet earth. Jesus had to die because He has to love. And love has to be involved, it cannot stay on the sidelines.

What did you think of the perspective presented in the video? Does it seem to tie it all together?

No, it is not well understood. That is the problem.
Oh, we talk about love and sing about it and preach about it, but most have no concept about what divine love is really all about. If it came up and slapped them in the face, they would probably not recoginize it.
Note what this statement says about divine love.
"My brethren are well aware that the word of God presents the matter of church unity as a principle; those who are united to Christ by the truth of heavenly origin should have strong friendship for one another. And this is not all. "These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full. This is my commandment, that ye love one another, as I have loved you." "These things I command you, that ye love one another. The love of Christ must come into the church, and be cherished by every member as a precious plant. If the branches of the vine are united to the parent stock, the same life dwells in them all. In Christ Jesus there is love, and those who are united to Christ will not have merely a tame, common regard as acquaintances, but true, sincere love for one another, because they are endued with the spirit of Christ. This drawing off from one another is not Christ-like, but it is after Satan's order. Love is not a mere simple regard, but a living principle; not a temporary emotion, but a permanent power. We drink it in fresh from the fountain of love that flows from the cross of Calvary. We are quickened by this love. "I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one, and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them as thou hast loved me." Quickened by this love, the power of the Holy Spirit, we learn to love one another in and through Christ Jesus truly, sincerely, unaffectedly." {1888 1141.2}
Divine love is a principle, not a feeling. We can only get this love from a close relationship with God, for God is the ONLY source for this divine love. When it is allowed to have complete control of the life, it will change us for the better and help us to be able to love one another.
When Jesus said that people will know that we are His disciples, because of the love we have for one another, He is speaking about the type of love we have, not just strong friendship. Unfortunatly, in far too many churches that is even missing, unless you are in the "in crowd." But we are to have that firm, abiding principle that is divine love.
So, Terese, I wish is was better understood, but it is not.
Happy Sabbath !
Maranatha :)

Ray I think you miss the point of why videos are posted. It usually means to watch the video and post to that content.
I would very much appreciate you getting on topic, or start your own topic with your opinion of others. Thank you. :)
Jesus made the choice to die in our place because the decree for the disobedience of Adam and Eve was death.
So in other words..the word of God does not waver..so someone had to die no ifs ands about it.
So Jesus took on the death sentence and by doing so fulfilled the decree. Hense..."it is accomplished."
God our Father so loved the world He created that He allowed for His only son to take on this burden so that each of us could be free from being condemned to death by accepting the sacrifice of our Savior.
Hebrews 9:22 And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission.
It was very important for Christ to die, note not just anyone could die to redeem us from sin, angels offered to go in Christ place, but, no their blood would not be enough to redeem man from sin. So in a nut shall God Son, the Creator, and that was the only Sacrifice God the Father could accept.
The sacrifices of animals were just symbols representing the fact that God the Son had to come to this earth to die, that's why it was also accepted by God. However, after GOD the SON died, this was done away with.
