WILL GOD BURN ME IN HELL IF I CONTINUE EATING CHICKEN AND FISH(MEAT)????

What is this message of health reform some adventists are talking about and making people feel as though its a pre-requisit for salvation? Please enlighten me. I only know one pre-requisit for salvation and thats accepting Jesus Christ as my personal Saviour( John 3:16). So what's this guilt trip about vegetarianism? I know that God doesn't change, he allowed them to eat meat and even Himself He ate fish, how can He now say we need to change our diet to vegetarianism? Enlighten me. Otherwise am ready to give up all for Jesus, but i wanna know the truth.. Somebody?

If you believe in the spirit of prophesy you would not be having a problem with this kind of question. It is not a matter of heaven and hell, wecan not judge anyone.

please read the qoutations below, they will help you understand the purpose of the health message.

The Purpose of the Health Message

1. Relieve suffering; purify the church
The work of health reform is the Lord’s
means for lessening suffering in our world and
for purifying His church…I am instructed to say
to health reform educators: Go forward. The
world needs every jot of the influence you can
exert to press back the tide of moral woe
(Testimonies, vol. 9, pp. 112, 113).

2. Secure the highest development of body, mind and
soul.
In teaching health principles, keep before the
mind the great object of reform—that its purpose
is to secure the highest development of body and
mind and soul. Show that the laws of nature,
being the laws of God, are designed for our good:
that obedience to them promotes happiness in
this life, and aids in the preparation for the life to
come (The Ministry of Healing, p. 146).

3. Elevate the moral standards
If we would elevate the moral standard in
any country where we may be called to go, we
must begin by correcting their physical habits
(Counsels on Health, p. 505).

4. Serve as an entering wedge
I can see the Lord’s providence that the medical
missionary work is to be a great entering
wedge, whereby the diseased soul may be
reached (Counsels on Health, p. 535).

5. To open doors
The right hand is used to open doors through
which the body may find entrance. This is the
part the medical missionary work is to act. It is to
largely prepare the way for their reception of the
truth for this time (The Ministry of Healing, p. 238).

6. To clarify thought processes
He (God) designs that the subject shall be
agitated, and the public mind deeply stirred to
investigate it; for it is impossible for men and
women, while under the power of sinful, healthdestroying,
brain enervating habits, to appropriate
sacred truth (Counsels on Health, p. 21).

7. To sow the seed and reap a harvest
When connected with other lines of gospel
effort, medical missionary work is a most effective
instrument by which the ground is prepared
for the sowing of the seeds of truth, and the
instrument also by which the harvest is reaped
(Medical Ministry, p. 240).

8. To restore the image of God
This is the work that will restore the moral
image of God in man (Medical Ministry, p.160).

9. To prepare a people for Christ’s return
As he thus instructs the people in the principles
of true temperance, and as a guardian of
souls gives advice to those who are mentally and
physically diseased, the physician is acting his
part in the great work of making ready a people
prepared for the Lord. This is what medical missionary
work is to accomplish in its relation to the
third angel’s message (Counsels on Health, p. 336).
In the preparation of a people for the Lord’s
second coming, a great work is to be accomplished
through the promulgation of health principles
(Medical Ministry, p. 206).

Health Should be a Part of Church Ministry

Christ is no longer in this world in person, to
go through our cities and towns and villages
healing the sick. He has commissioned us to carry
forward the medical missionary work that He
began, and in this work, we are to do our best
(Counsels on Health, p. 212).
Read the Scriptures carefully, and you will
find that Christ spent the largest part of His ministry
in restoring the suffering and afflicted to
health….

We shall have success if we work on practical
lines. Ministers, do not confine your work to giving
Bible instruction. Do practical work. Seek to
restore the sick to health. This is true ministry.
Remember that the restoration of the body prepares
the way for the restoration of the soul
(Medical Ministry, p. 240).

There are precious blessings and a rich experience
to be gained if ministers will combine the
presentation of the health question with all their
labors in the churches (Gospel Workers, p. 231).
You will never be ministers after the gospel
order till you show a decided interest in medical
missionary work, the gospel of healing and blessing
and strengthening (Counsels on Health, p. 533).

Too little attention is generally given to the
preservation of health. It is far better to prevent
disease than to know how to treat it when contracted
(The Ministry of Healing, p. 128).

Our ministers should become intelligent on
health reform. They need to become acquainted
with physiology and hygiene; they should understand
the laws that govern physical life and their
bearing upon the health of mind and soul.

In their own lives and homes they should
obey the laws of life, practicing right principles
and living healthfully. Then they will be able to
speak correctly on this subject, leading the people
higher and still higher in the work of reform.
Living in the light themselves, they can bear a
message of great value to those who are in need
of just such a testimony (Testimonies, vol. 6, p. 376).

Those who go forth to engage in the work of
the ministry must be intelligent upon the subject
of health reform. Those men who after many years’
experience have yet no appreciation of the medical
missionary work, should not be appointed to preside
over our churches (Medical Ministry, p. 238).

In new fields no work is so successful as
medical missionary work. If our ministers would

work earnestly to obtain an education in medical
missionary lines, they would be far better fitted
to do the work Christ did as a medical missionary….
Then will the work of the ministry be after
the Lord’s order; the sick will be healed, and
poor, suffering humanity will be blessed.

Begin to do medical missionary work with
the conveniences which you have at hand. You
will find that thus the way will open for you to
hold Bible readings. The heavenly Father will
place you in connection with those who need to
know how to treat their sick ones (Medical
Ministry, p. 239).

The subject of health reform has been presented
in the churches; but the light has not been
heartily received. The selfish, health-destroying
indulgences of men and women have counteracted
the influence of the message that is to prepare
a people for the great day of God.

If the churches
expect strength, they must live the truth which
God has given them. If the members of our
churches disregard the light on this subject, they
will reap the sure result in both spiritual and
physical degeneracy. And the influence of these
older church members will leaven those newly
come to the faith. The Lord does not now work to
bring many souls into the truth, because of the
church members who have never been converted,
and those who were once converted but who
have backslidden.

What influence would these
unconsecrated members have on new converts?
Would they not make of no effect the God-given
message which his people are to hear?
(Testimonies, vol. 6, pp. 370, 371).

Ministers and people must make greater
advancement in the work of reform. They should
commence without delay to correct their wrong
habits of eating, drinking, dressing, and working.
I saw that quite a number of the ministers are not
awake upon this important subject.

They are not
all where God would have them. The result is,
some can show but little fruit of their labors
(Testimonies, vol. 1, p. 466).

The Lord has presented before me that many,
many will be rescued from physical, mental, and
moral degeneracy through the practical influence
of health reform. Health talks will be given, publications
will be multiplied.

The principles of
health reform will be received with favor, and
many will be enlightened. The influences that are
associated with health reform will commend it to
the judgment of all who want light, and they will
advance step by step to receive the special truths
for this time (Testimonies, vol. 6, pp. 378, 379).

Much of the prejudice that prevents the truth
of the third angel’s message from reaching the
hearts of the people, might be removed if more
attention were given to health reform. When people
become interested in this subject, the way is
often prepared for the entrance of other truths
(Counsels on Diet and Foods, p. 76).

Those who labor in our conferences as ministers
should become acquainted with the work of
ministering to the sick. No minister should be
proud that he is ignorant where he should be
wise (Medical Ministry, p. 250).

The gospel ministry is needed to give permanence
and stability to the medical missionary
work; and the ministry needs the medical work
to demonstrate the practical working of the
gospel. Neither part of the work is complete
without the other (Counsels on Health, p. 514).
The quality of our bodies and health has been declining since the beginning of sin. All creation awaits for Him to set it straight again and re-create. It seems humans and animals are both affected the most and more and more disease. If we care about our bodies and our health, we would allow only the BEST of foods into our bodies. That"'s as I see it.
What about fish? Has Ellen White mentioned it too? Because i know Jesus liked to eat fish as recorded in the new testament.

Evans:

"Welcome all the Lord's followers, even those whose faith is weak. Don't criticize them for having beliefs that are different from yours. Some think it is all right to eat anything, while those whose faith is weak will eat only vegetables. But you should not criticize others for eating or for not eating. After all, God welcomes everyone. What right do you have to criticize someone else's servants? Only their Lord can decide if they are doing right, and the Lord will make sure that they do right.  Some of the Lord's followers think one day is more important than another. Others think all days are the same. But each of you should make up your own mind. Any followers who count one day more important than another day do it to honor their Lord. And any followers who eat meat give thanks to God, just like the ones who don't eat meat. Whether we live or die, it must be for God, rather than for ourselves. Whether we live or die, it must be for the Lord. Alive or dead, we still belong to the Lord. This is because Christ died and rose to life, so that he would be the Lord of the dead and of the living.  Why do you criticize other followers of the Lord? Why do you look down on them? The day is coming when God will judge all of us.  In the Scriptures God says, "I swear by my very life that everyone will kneel down  and praise my name!"  And so, each of us must give an account to God for what we do."--Romans 14:1-12

Speaking as a progressive vegetarian, the LORD told Noah and again told the Children of Israel to eat clean meats without the blood or kosher (Genesis 9 & Leviticus 11).  Our diet given by God before sin was vegan, after sin was vegetarian, and after the flood was clean meats.  You have three choices as the Holy Spirit leads you.

To answer your question more directly, NO!  The vegetarian and vegan diets are the healthiest, but are not a salvation issue. Jesus ate fish, EGW ate fish (she is not God, but this may be important to you), and most importantly our salvation is centered 100% on our relationship with Christ and obedience to Holy Scriptures:

"And that from childhood you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.  All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness,  that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work."--2 Timothy 3:15-17

Now the Spirit expressly says that in latter times some will depart from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons, speaking lies in hypocrisy, having their own conscience seared with a hot iron,  forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from foods which God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and know the truth. For every creature of God is good, and nothing is to be refused if it is received with thanksgiving; for it is sanctified by the word of God and pray.  If you instruct the brethren in these things, you will be a good minister of Jesus Christ, nourished in the words of faith and of the good doctrine which you have carefully followed. But reject profane and old wives’ fables, and exercise yourself toward godliness."--1 Timothy 4:1-7

"God will have a people upon the earth to maintain the Bible, and the Bible only, as the standard of all doctrines and the basis of all reforms. The opinions of learned men, the deductions of science, the creed or decisions of ecclesiastical councils, as numerous and discordant as are the churches which they represent, the voice of the majority-not one nor all of these should be regarded as evidence for or against any point of religious faith. Before accepting any doctrine or precept, we should demand a plain "Thus saith the Lord" in its support".--The Great Controversy, p. 595 (White)

Be Blessed!

while your aretalking about being health when one eats vegetables, i don`t know where you get the guarantee that vegetables are safer to eat than meat. what do you have to say about the ECOLI DISEASE that originated from Germany cucumbers? furthermore, it killed about 28 people and thounds were inffected by it. its really true some adventists think that eating meat is sin and they think by abstaining from meat they are buying themselves a ticket to heaven. we are saved by his grace and not by works of becoming vegetarians.

Hastings, you have just made the point.  People are confusing counsel with doctrine....All types of food are becoming unsafe.  If we really want to take it there, the best methods of food are either coming from organic sources (because the standards are very different and strict that mainstream processing of food) or grow it in your own backyard.

People have different economic and health reasons for diet and it is so unChristlike to try to "scare a person" into feeling as though they will be "lost" because they ate meat! It just so heartbreaking!

Lord, help us, please!

Thanks Sarah. Now tell me, you have said this is council and not doctrine. Whats the difference? If sister white councils us about diets because of fear of diseases, what about me; God has blessed me with fabulous health and havent been sick for over five years. I exercise regularly and i observe my diet and eat only healthful foods. I dont eat much sugar and i eat only foods beneficial to my health. So what do you say about that? And what did Mrs White say about Fish, ehehe, i love fish.

:-). Nice. Thanks...

Hastings

There is nothing that one takes into their body that is guaranteed to be safe in this sin sick world.  So, the safest thing to do is to not eat at all. LOL

However, the Bible counsel and instruction in regards to food is on a scale.  I call it the "Good, better and best" scale.

An example.

The "Best" is fresh, organically grown fruit straight from the plant.  Let's take an apple as an example.

The "Better" is preserved fruits, grains and nuts.  This would be "applesauce" as an example.

The "Good" is cooked fruits, grains and nuts.  This would be apple pie. G.

Then there are two more gradiation on that scale, the first of which is: "allowed."  This is where "clean" flesh foods of all kinds are included. Flesh foods, of the clean category which are properly prepared are allowed, but because of the "hardness of our hearts."

Then the last gradiation on the scale is "forbidden."  This would include all that is harmful, e.g. strong drink and "unclean" foods.  Man has never been given permission by God to eat anything in this category.  Included in this forbidden level would be even clean meat that still retains the blood and fat.  This has never been allowed, no matter what kind of host it is in.

Those who are preparing to go to heaven will attempt to live as close to the divine plan as possible.  They will seek to get their nurishment from the "Best" level of the above scale.  However, it would not be a sin to partake from the next three levels.  However, to eat that which God has forbidden would be to invite destruction in the end.

So, the question is this: "Just how important is it in your life to live as close to what God has shown to be the best level of gaining nurishment?"  Your answer to this may just reveal that in fact  you have another god in your life that is more important than the God of heaven.  One that needs to be brought into subjection the the God of the Universe.

Maranatha :)
Ray

Ray i think you misunderstood my point, i was not talking about the forbidden meat but instead i was talking about the flesh that God allowed us to eat.

i do not think it is right for you to say i have another god in my life besides the God of the universe  simply because i do not agree with your so called best, better and good food you prescribed with your own criteria perhaps subjective.

can you just make me understand if God didn`t know that in the last days meat would have diseases in it. many people come up with their own theology when explaining this in order to suit themselves.

i do not believe that God allowed meat after the flood simply bcoz there was no vegetation (an assumption held by many). God is never stranded, if he did not want people at that time to eat meat he was going to feed them with manner from heaven just like he did to the israelites in the wilderness where there was no vegetation. and if you say meat was allowed bcoz there was no vegetation, then how did the animals survive that were with noah in the ark?

And I have to agree with Hastings, according to the Word of God.   Ray, we have to be be careful that our perspectives are not Phariasical in our well-meaning.

There are going to be many, many people who eat meat and that are saved in the Kingdom! The Health Message is so much more than whether or not a person eats meat....it is BALANCED.  It is also about getting EXERCISE and not being overweight. We defile out temples by not getting the exercise that we need to sustain our selves and suffer through mood swings--especially vegans, because there are other things that must be replaced in the diet.  The "good", "better", and "best" were allowed for more than one reason.  Sin costs.

Some people are expecting to live on the diet before sin, without having to make other lifestyle adjustments that also impact our health.  It is a grave mistake.

Thanks for a well elaborated answer Ray. Now i know that its not a sin to eat chicken:). But with God's help i will endeavor to eat the Best category of the diet, the original diet. And Ray, am still waiting my Great Controversy you said you will send me. My Address: EVANS CHALWE, MADISON GENERAL INSURANCE COMPANY ZAMBIA LTD, BOX 37013, LUSAKA, ZAMBIA, CENTRAL AFRICA. Thanks and happy sabbath.
