How many types of wines are recoded in the bible and is it well to take a little?
In the book of Timothy Poul is advising Timothy to take a little wine, In the books of genesis 9:21, proverbs,23:21, 29,30;6:10,11.20:1,Isaiah 5:11 Nahum1:10, Effeso5:18 and many other Bible verses which condemn drunkenness, In this regard when the bible is talking about the wine which we take at the Lords supper is it the fermented wine which can make one drunk ?
I believe they had:
New wine: fresh squeezed grape juice.
Then, grape juice from concentrate, preserved by canning.
Regular wine, preserved by fermentation.
Sweet wine, have a high alcohol content due to the high sugar content.
Acts 2:13 Others mocking said, These men are full of new wine.
2:15 For these are not drunken, as ye suppose, seeing it is [but] the third hour of the day.
The word for "new wine", here is unique.
Akin to G1099; sweet wine, that is, (properly) must (fresh juice), but used of the more saccharine (and therefore highly inebriating) fermented wine: - new wine.
That's the only place G1098 is found. In all other places, "new wine" is two separate words:
Luke 5:37 And no man putteth new wine into old bottles; else the new wine will burst the bottles, and be spilled, and the bottles shall perish.
5:38 But new wine must be put into new bottles; and both are preserved.
5:39 No man also having drunk old [wine] straightway desireth new: for he saith, The old is better.
