I
Topic: Jacob's Ladder

Objective: Answer Bible questions correctly and move to the top of the ladder.

Preparation: Players will have studied an indicated portion or portions of the Bible. Questions can be based on the entire Bible or portions of it.

Materials: List of Bible questions and answers.
Players: groups, entire congregation

Procedure:

1. Form two teams of players. (A congregation may be divided into two teams or volunteers can make two teams and stand in front of congregation.)

2. Each team chooses a representative.

3. The representatives or climbers stand in the aisle, at least ten pews away from the front. (Each pew will represent a rung in Jacob’s ladder. You may choose to have more or less rungs)
4. Sing the chorus or verse of the chorus “Jacob’s Ladder - optional

5. Each team is asked a question. If the team answers correctly, the representative/climber moves forward one pew. To make the game more challenging, ask a team two questions consecutively. The team will have to answer two questions correctly, consecutively, in order for its climber to move forward one pew (step up one rung of Jacob’s ladder)

6. Continue asking questions until a climber gets to the first pew.

Conclusion: The team whose representative is the first to reach the top of the ladder/ the first pew is the winner.

Note: You may make the game more challenging by allowing each member of a group to answer only one question, especially if it’s a large group. Also, individuals could be asked to compete instead of groups; however, the game would become less interactive.
