All,

Below is an email from an SDA the owns a resort in western Tennessee. They are now willing to sell parts of their 100 acres to other SDA individuals that are desirous of living in the country. Please let the Lord lead you as to your decision. You may also visit their website at the bottom of their email for pictures and other details.

P.S. If I didn't give it to you before here again is the website you can visit to view a non-SDA family's adventure as they try to move their family out of the city to a home off-the-grid. http://www.livingoffgrid.org/off-grid-self-sustaining-lifestyle-documentary-with-les-stroud/

Just a note to let you know that In view of the turbulent times we are
living in, my wife Rose and I feel that God has led us to make our 100 acre
Shekinah Lakes property here in Tennessee available to Adventists who desire
to move from the city into the country. In light of current events in the
U.S. and around the world... we have felt to not only open our property up
in this manner in Tennessee but also to begin plans to expand it!

If other Adventists take us up on our offer, we will redo our website to
reflect these changes.

Besides renting out the homes that are on our property we are also going to
open to selling off parts of it (something we have never considered doing
before) to others that understand the times we are living in.

We are envisioning an association of Adventist owners where although an
owner might only own a lot, they will have the use of most of the 100 acres,
including large gardening areas.

Thanks for keeping this in mind in the "coming days" and also for sharing
this with other Adventists who might be interesting in knowing that this
property is available to them.

For those who would like to move here and rent, our rates are very
reasonable.

We have two rental homes available now that rent from $490 a month
(furnished) to $590 a month and one available for $590 a month.

For those who would like to purchase a lot here for later use, we are going
to make them available for $10,000. Although we haven't started selling yet,
if there is a real interest, we plan to soon start making lots available for
sale in the spring.

We believe owning a lot here will fill a need for those Adventist families
who desire to have a place to go to at some point in the future. By buying
the land in advance, perhaps coming and working on it from "time to time" or
having it to come to when they need it, will help them be better prepared
for what lies ahead.

Please keep in mind that when someone owns a lot here, it also gives them
the right to a private garden site (or a big ten acre garden plot that we
could all work together that would produce far more than what we could all
eat).

Anyone who owns a lot at Shekinah Lakes can also use the chapel and lake
area as well as other areas of our property. So although it may look a lot
is small, in reality, it is quite big (because of all that comes with it).

We will also are also going to make available for sale (or rent), the
manufactured homes we already have set up here at Shekinah Lakes.

The 12 manufactured homes that are already on the property, we will sell
with the lot they are on (with septic, water, etc,), starting at $29,000 and
going to $59,000. We also have a very nice three level brick home we could
sell here. The home would be great for offices, health center or just
private house.

If necessary, we will consider carrying the financing on the manufactured
housing and lots.

To maintain the integrity for these end times, we plan on making
"association rules" that in the future, no one will be able purchase a lot
or home here unless at least 80% of the homeowners at Shekinah Lakes agree
for that person or family to move on the property. This will we will make
sure that only like-minded Adventist families live in our midst.

My wife Rose is in the states now, however I am on a mission trip to
Nicaragua. I do not plan on being back until the end of March. Rose will be
glad to talk to you at (731) 986-9837 concerning a rental.

If you are interested in purchasing, you need to talk to me. If you will
email me your phone number, I will be glad to call you from Nicaragua. Or
feel free to email me with any questions. I will be glad to answer your
questions by email or phone.

We pray that God will lead you concerning Shekinah Lakes. If you are not
interested, I hope that you will share with other Adventists who may be
interested in moving out in the country.

Because of Christ,

J. David Ford

Fred#3, Find out what plants/ veg benefit each other and plant them together for either replenishing or repell bugs. Find out what flowers attract benefical imsects and plant according. Start a couple piles of compost and a supply of manure. For space plant in beds instead of rows (both running east to west) and plant in a diamond pattern along the way. Keep the lord on your mind while in the garden and you willl replenished yourself. Not sure what else to help with. Take care, Richard

Fred#2, have your soil tested. Plant cover crops (green manure) of clover, buckwheat, winter rye..etc. before, during, after the season. Let this grow up and then turrn it under to help replenish and build up the soil. Use ground cover for things like blueberries for strawberries, clover for asparigus...etc. Rotate in order as to how much a certain veg pulls out nuients; plant legumes next season plant brassicas next season in that spot plant root veg ( plant soybean after your corn ) to replenishh soil. Fred, in Tn. Each county has a county extension office. For your state it might be the same or its the.place where you get your soil tested. They have free broucheres/phamplets/papers that cover your zone, what plants grow best, when to plant, spacing, .depth, harvest dates...etc. They also cover farms, gardens, fruit tree/bush, insects. Will have to finish comment in sections. Richard

I somehow couldn't find this group prior to today.  I believe that so many have lost sight of the importance of country living.  A site I am active on is County Living Connections (countryconnections.ning.com) if any of you want to check it out or join.  We have info on a lot of aspects of country living and also end time lifestyles.  Sometimes I may lack the ability to do some of the things I'd like to (plant a bigger garden....) but it does help keep me looking to Jesus instead of the world.
