MORNING DEVOTION WITH SAMMY LEE & ROBERT FAY    19 - 09  - 2011

In Psalms 119:49,50 we read:  “Remember the word unto thy servant, upon which Thou has caused me to hope .  This is my comfort in my affliction: for Thy word quickened me.”

      There is no other book in the Bible quite like the book of Psalms.  If the whole Bible is like a pasture to the sheep of the Good Shepherd, then the book of Psalms is like a special patch in it, where the most nutritious and delicious herbs have been grown and especially prepared for His sheep.

     It is a book containing songs of praise and prayer.  Well, a song is actually a prayer put into melody.  To Moslems the book of Psalms called Zabur, is a distinct and separate book mentioned in the Quran as one of the three parts of the Holy Bible which is called Al’kitab, which simply means “The Book” in Arabic.  Just like the word Bible comes from ‘biblos’ which means ‘The Books’ in Greek, the plural of  ‘biblion’. To the Moslems the Bible or ,Al’kitab consists of the Torat, Zabur  (Pslams) and Injil (New Testament/ Gospel).  David, Moses, Asaph and Heman were some of the writers of the book of Psalms.  And as you can see, they are actually prayers originally and put into music.

     Thus, we can see that they are the most beautiful song of prayers or supplications.  The book of Psalms is a source of inspir-ation for those who want to know how to address God, how to know His will, how to thank Him and how to express words of adoration to the King of kings and the LORD of Lords.

     We can truly say, that in the book of Psalms we can find words of comfort  and consolation for any  trouble or distress that we may have come to.

Both the trials and joys of the people of God through the ages until now are actually expressed so graphically in them.

     Every Christian who wants to have a victorious life should start their day with contemplation or  singing one of the many songs in the book of Psalms.

     Why not start today with the song: The Steps Of  A Good Man, as found in Psalm 37:23 , 24  The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD:

 and he delighteth in his way.  Though he fall,  though he fall, he shall not be cast down: for the LORD upholds him with His hand.  Ref:  With His hand, with His With His hand, for the Lord upholds him with His hand.

Though he falls though he falls, he shall not be cast down, for the Lord upholds him with His hand.

When his wife left him, Robert Fay thought that it is the end of the world, and there is no use for him to continue living in this cruel and unfair world.  He has been discriminated since he was a child.  Bullied and ridiculed  by his friends at school and in the neighbourhood.

And now  after the sad experience of being cheated by his business partner, and forsaken by his own wife, and was not given permission to see  his own children, a beautiful twin, Brianna and Xaviera, he just thought that there is no more in this life that he can think worth living for. 

So, after distributing all what he had to charity organizations he decided to end what he thought to be the most miserable life in this planet and hope to have a better life in the next incarnation even if he has to live as a dog or a cat.  He was sure for having a good heart and never cheated others as a Buddhist brought up by his virtuous father, Mr. Sun Keng Hing, from Muswellbrook, Upper Hunter region of New South Wales, he would be allowed to come back to be incarnated as the above mentioned pet and perhaps could found an owner that will love and care for him.  He did not believe he will be incarnated to a lower form of life such as a cockroach or an ant.

That evening Robert walked slowly along the pedestrian pathway of the Sydney Harbour Bridge with a crushed heart.  He looked around the  dark  but beautiful and familiar surrounding that is the icon of the most beautiful city which he had considered as his home for almost sixty years.   In his mind just a few more minutes he will end his miserable life in the cold water of the river below the bridge.

He knew for sure that as soon as soon as his body hit the water his misery will end instantly.  But just as he was ready to drop himself into his watery grave, suddenly a pair of strong police hand grabbed him.

He was surprised and stunned for a while as if a hammer hit him right on the center of his skull.

     He could not remember very well what really happened to him until he was taken to the nearby police station for interrogation.

He did not understand why the world treated him so cruelly, that he was even prevented to end his miserable life and had to continue on until who knows when. 

     Robert decided to live a life in seclusion, and bear what he thought was a punishment for the sin he must have done in the previous life that he could not remember.  (To be continued….)

THE INCREDIBLE CONVERSION OF ROBERT FAY,

FORMER CHAMPION BODY BUILDER AND HOLDER OF MULTI TITLES FROM THE IFBB (INTERNATIONAL FEDERATION OF BODY BUILDERS).

Robert Fay is a multitalented, and multititled Australian Born Chinese, with qualifications as Pharmacists, Applied Nutrition Science, as well as Body Building.  He owned four pharmacies throughout Australia and one Health Food Shop besides the pharmacy as one the four that he operates in Sydney.  He is the former Mr. Australia, Mr. Asia, Mr. South Pacific and Mr. Universe Southern, as well as holder of other Body Building and Weight lifting championship titles. He had the very bad experience of being cheated by a business partner, which led to his bankruptcy,  and then deserted by his wife (former Miss Philippines) who fell in love with a man much younger than herself, and even have the heart of preventing him from seeing his own lovely twin daughters.  He was so broken hearted and depressed that he decided to commit suicide but by God's wonderful intervention his life was spared. But before the attempt of committing suicide he had distributed all his properties to different charities, and so for two years he has been living as a pauper.  He lived in seclusion and isolation and only eat fruits, cereals and nuts most of the time, just waiting to die a natural death, which he was sure will come soon.  After two years living in seclusion and a swagman or tramp, one day he picked up a pamphlet containing a literature about the end of the world and hope in Jesus advertised by a group of Adventists from in Australia with an address of their meeting place. That happened two months ago, and the more he read the pamphlet, the more he was interested in finding out for himself. 

Although his wife recently became  a Seventh-day Adventist, Robert was never interested in religion, because he has a Buddhist upbringing.  But when he had the above mentioned calamity, he got hold of a pocket bible and started reading it with interest. 

 

So one day he decided to come to the meeting place and I met him on the 20th of August 2011 when I was preaching there.  In case you haven't read my report before, here is what happened that day:

He was sitting at the end of the hall and while I preached he kept scribbling something on the small table next to him or tinkering with his mobile phone.  He looked very unkempt, wearing only green track suit pants, bewhiskered and  bemoustached and looking very much like a real vagabond swagman as described by Banjo Paterson, or perhaps an escapee from an insane asylum, drug addict, or an alcoholic.  But he accosted me at the end of the sermon and handed me his very beautifully hand written letter of introduction.  He requested for some more sermons and materials about the Seventh-day Adventist beliefs, his speech  showing intelligence and high educational background, without a single scent of alcohol,  as I earlier expected, and  I was dumb struck.

Four days later I met him again in  Black Muscat Park, and this time he showed me some pictures of his past. I saw  personal photographs,  and the articles in such magazines as Muscle & Fitness, and Muscle Mag.  I just couldn’t help but drop my lower jaw in amazement. 

His biography is really amazing and his accomplishments were spectacular, being the first Asian ever to get the title of Mr. Australia and Mr. Universe.  But that was past glory, what is more fascinating is the fact that Robert had a very sad experience in the later part of his life that has caused his effort in taking his own life, but only by God’s grace he is still alive.  Before he tried to commit the suicide he distributed all his property to different charities organizations.

His wife, a former Miss Philippines left him alone, and did not even permit him to meet their twin daughters.  He was very depressed and tried to commit a suicide, but God performed a miracle in saving his life.  Just recently he became interested in the truth and determined to become a lay evangelist to witness for the King of the Universe.  With his background as former title holders of world champion titles in body building, his career as qualified and successful pharmacist and nutritionist, he can be a great influence in helping young people and adults as well the benefits of being a vegetarian.  He had an accident while competing for the title of Weight Lifting Champion in lifting a 796 pounds weight in a dead lift, and in his effort to win the championship and tore his biceps tendon.  The doctors who operated on him (the famous micro surgeon, Dr. Earl Owens) said that he would never be able to lift even a glass of milk for the rest of his life.  But he surprised them when 6 months later he joined a matching competition for the same title and came out as the second winner.  He accounted this for his practising as a health conscious person most of the health reform messages taught by Ellen G White, without knowing it.    But now, he is determined to help others realize that there is a more valuable title than any world titles, and that of becoming sons of God and co-regents of the Kingdom of God.

 He is now aiming for a more glorious and permanent title, that of Mr. Universe of God.  He is not interested in holding a champion title, or winner title for a few years, but for eternity.  A title that will entitle him to one of the co-regents of the King of the Universe promised by Himself in Revelation 3:21. 

“To him that overcomes will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in His throne.”

He is now studying very diligently all the doctrines of our church and will be baptized on the 1^st of October 2011, at the Chinese SDA Church in Strathfield,  Sydney.

 

This is my plan with Robert Fay.  I am training him now to become a full-fledged SDA and Health Lecturer on the NEW START.  I will be presenting the normal Evangelistic Lectures while he will give the Health Messages, based on his qualifications and personal experiences as a health conscious person and strict practice of living out the principles of healthful living without knowing that this is what really have been preached by our church for more than a century.  Since a child Robert has always been having Weetbix from The Sanitarium Health Food Company for breakfast and loved fruits.  For the last two years being unable to cook, he survived on 12 pieces of Weetbix and mostly raw fruits as his menu.

Please pray for Robert and me.  I know the devil will not be happy and will try everything to thwart this plan.

M.B., pg. 148 -- "Jesus, while He dwelt on earth, dignified life in all its details by keeping before men the glory of God, and by subordinating everything to the will of His Father. If we follow His example, His assurance to us is that all things needful in this life 'shall be added.' Poverty or wealth, sickness or health, simplicity or wisdom, -- all are provided for in the promise of His grace.

"God's everlasting arm encircles the soul that turns to Him for aid, however feeble that soul may be. The precious things of the hills shall perish; but the soul that lives for God, shall abide with Him. 'The world passeth away, and the lust thereof; but he that doeth the will of God abideth forever.' The city of God will open its golden gates to receive him who learned while on earth to lean on God for guidance and wisdom, for comfort and hope, amid loss and affliction. The songs of the angels will welcome him there, and for him the tree of life shall yield its fruit. And what shall our prayer be about this day? -- Yes, let us pray for a realization that if we put our full dependence upon the Lord, trusting in Him for guidance and wisdom, He will not fail us; we ought to pray for a realization that His everlasting arms are ever ready to encircle the soul that turns to Him for help; and should pray for implicit faith in His promise that if we subordinate everything to the will of the Father, then all things needful in this life, "shall be added" to our eternal interests.
