The hymnal is another source of comfort, praise, prayer and encouragement. Many people have joined the church through the music ministries.
Music inspires, soothes pain, strengthens,encourages and also can heal broken hearts.
I would like you friends to share with us some of your favorite hymns and let us know why that song means so much to you.

Trust and obey

When we walk with the Lord
in the light of his word,
what a glory he sheds on our way!
While we do his good will,
he abides with us still,
and with all who will trust and obey.

Trust and obey, for there's no other way
to be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey.

Not a shadow can rise,
not a cloud in the skies,
but his smile quickly drives it away;
not a doubt nor a fear,
not a sigh nor a tear,
can abide while we trust and obey.

Not a burden we bear,
not a sorrow we share,
but our toil he doth richly repay;
not a grief or a loss,
not a frown or a cross,
but is blest if we trust and obey.

But we never can prove
the delights of his love
until all on the altar we lay;
for the favor he shows,
and the joy he bestows,
are for them who will trust and obey.

Then in fellowship sweet
we will sit at his feet,
or we'll walk by his side in the way;
what he says we will do,
where he sends we will go;
never fear, only trust and obey.
Each of this Hymns touch my mind at sometimes depending on the mood,plce and time. But now it is "Under His wings i am savely abiding". Devil i know u can surf the net but listen The one who lives in me is much more greater.
Until then, with joy I'll carry on.. Until that day when I behold that city, until that day God calls me home!
My heart can sing when I pause to remember,
A heartache here is but a stepping stone.
Along a trail, thats winding always upward,
this troubled world, is not my final home.

But until then, my heart will go on singing,
Until then, with joy I'll carry on,
Until the day my eyes behold the city,
Until the day God calls me home.

The things of earth will dim and loose there value,
If we recall they're borrowed for awhile;
And things of earth that cause the heart to tremble,
Remember there, will only bring a smile.
Hello, my favourite Hymn is #334 Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing. Whenever i am feeling down and i start to hum that song, it lifts my spirit. I find it very soothing to my soul.
Come, thou Fount of every blessing,
tune my heart to sing thy grace;
streams of mercy, never ceasing,
call for songs of loudest praise.
Teach me some melodious sonnet,
sung by flaming tongues above.
Praise the mount! I'm fixed upon it,
mount of thy redeeming love.

Here I raise mine Ebenezer;
hither by thy help I'm come;
and I hope, by thy good pleasure,
safely to arrive at home.
Jesus sought me when a stranger,
wandering from the fold of God;
he, to rescue me from danger,
interposed his precious blood.

O to grace how great a debtor
daily I'm constrained to be!
Let thy goodness, like a fetter,
bind my wandering heart to thee.
Prone to wander, Lord, I feel it,
prone to leave the God I love;
here's my heart, O take and seal it,
seal it for thy courts above.
"I will sing the wondrous story of the Christ that died for me" is my favourite song. It tells the story of Christ's sacrifice for us and reminds me how He took me off the road to despair and planted my feet firmly on the road to salvation.
My favourite hymn is Be Thou My Vision. The words of the song tell me that God must be everything to me. Jesus must be the lens through which I view everything. What a wonderful Saviour! That's one of my favourites too.
There are so many inspiring hymns but here is one for the day:

Great Is Thy Faithfulness

Great is Thy faithfulness, O God my Father;
There is no shadow of turning with Thee;
Thou changest not, Thy compassions, they fail not;
As Thou hast been, Thou forever will be.

Great is Thy faithfulness!
Great is Thy faithfulness!
Morning by morning new mercies I see.
All I have needed Thy hand hath provided;
Great is Thy faithfulness, Lord, unto me!

Summer and winter and springtime and harvest,
Sun, moon and stars in their courses above
Join with all nature in manifold witness
To Thy great faithfulness, mercy and love.

Pardon for sin and a peace that endureth
Thine own dear presence to cheer and to guide;
Strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow,
Blessings all mine, with ten thousand beside!

It truly is good news that He is indeed faithful. We CAN depend upon Him.
I LOVE this song too...This is actually great...;-)
I think it is helpful for us to READ some of the great old hymns. You see .... when we sing them ... we don't always READ them. Do you know what I mean? It just becomes like an old habit. You just sing without knowing or really feeling the words and message.

So, I think it is very valuable to have a post where we can come and READ the old hymns. And meditate on them.

I would encourage all to post the hymns for us all to read.

Thanks for this thread

This is my Father's world,
and to my listening ears
all nature sings, and round me rings
the music of the spheres.
This is my Father's world:
I rest me in the thought
of rocks and trees, of skies and seas;
his hand the wonders wrought.

This is my Father's world,
the birds their carols raise,
the morning light, the lily white,
declare their maker's praise.
This is my Father's world:
he shines in all that's fair;
in the rustling grass I hear him pass;
he speaks to me everywhere.

This is my Father's world.
O let me ne'er forget
that though the wrong seems oft so strong,
God is the ruler yet.
This is my Father's world:
why should my heart be sad?
The Lord is King; let the heavens ring!
God reigns; let the earth be glad!
