Hi Don, thank you for responding. I have use northworthy composer and cakewalk pro, and use soundforge before but it's limited function. I would like to find out more about software which u can record multiple tracks.. would love to get more responses about this topic.. come on group! LOL
Thanks Don!.. Ive just downloaded Audacity, will try to use it, it looks much more simpler than sound forge.
Hi Angela.. Thanks for the tips. Im using PC. I have seen steinberg cubase, but i think it's more complicated and for advanced users, so prob i would just learn to use a simpler software first but it's good to know all the other options and the alternatives that you can use for editing n recording audio. btw, are you a composer? you seem to know lots of advanced softwares.
Well, I'm using Band in a Box, Cake walk, Finale, and Audacity. And I have too Sound Forge.

If you compose in Band in a Box, you can export it as a midi file to Cake Walk..so you get multiple tracks. By tracks you can change the instruments etc.

In Audacity you can record separate tracks..but my experience with Audacity is that when you go back to the file later, (after some months)..it does not flow...it will jump...So what you want to do, you have to do it in a short time. I hope I have could have been of some help. I'm composing since 1989.

Have a nice day,

Castro
Hi Castro,

Thanks for sharing, I have used sound forge before but i found it's not really suitable for multiple tracks recording.. but it's good for audio editing.

wow.. i would love to hear ur compositions if possible..

Thanks again.

hi... if you really wanna dig in to composition seriously you might wanna try a notation software with real sampled libraries.

This means that when you play your notation they sound very real like you are hearing a live band or orchestra in front of you. Kinda expensive though, you might wanna google Notion 3 because I think finale and sibelius can't match this one.

You can use finally and sibelius and then add in a 3rd party plug-in to help it sound realistic and they are called VSTs just google about them really expensive.

About recording, I use Cubase and Sonar, I bought a condenser mic for our choir recording and it has sonar free with it. These softwares really need in-depth learning because not having enough knowledge on these softwares can really affect the output of your music.
