A few weeks ago, I visited a Seventh-day Adventist church. I had gone there befrore, but this time, it was different. I started to wonder where I was. During the special praise portion, most worshippers were up on their feet dancing, literally - much more than swaying to the beat of the music.

Of course, the piano and organ that used to be at the church in question had been replaced with a drum set, guitars and a keyboard.(Not that there is anything inherently wrong with a drum, guitar or keyboard)

Is it proper or acceptable for Adventists to dance in church? What about dancing like David did? Didn't he dance before the ark ?

See now this is a hard one to go with because there are some older adventist tt would hv looked dwn o the drums andte swaying to the music and then they would hae rlly frowned or talked very harshly about the drums. But the main thing some people d seee in the part about david dancing and I still myef have to do sme research on this myself that he did dance but not in the church. so there a some say I guess that it is okay as long as it is not done inside of the sanctuary.
even though I do se it differently.
Some people go to church very excited to praise God for some miracle or something else.So they dance their joy. There are also some Adventist church, well, one that I know, that have a dance group that dances during the praise service.. They do what is called liturgical dances, like the Mesianic Jews do. In fact, this SDA church I am referring to was established so that Adventist Jews could worship in their own cultural setting. The services I have observed seem o.k
yes David dance before the ark, but the questions are:
why David dance?.............
where David dance, is it in the church or sanctuar?...............
in which moment David dance, is it a worship time?..............
After David or before David is there someone else who did the same thing?...........
when the Bible said David dance, is there a descrition or prescription?..................
why we should dance like David did, and we should not kill someone when we want to get his whife like David did also?......
what is more important what someone did, what the church is doing? what we think about, or what the bible said?
if there is an answer for those questions, we will know what is acceptable for Adventist people, because we Adventist people we are doing every thing according to the bible. (sorry for my english i'm still learning)
According to the bible and if we are to follow what we read from the Bible, its important to note that music changes with the occasion. There was always a different type of music to suite a specific occasion. For instance, at battle fronts or after victory they would sing with jubilation, dancing and shouting and its worthy to note that they also used different instruments.
However when inside the sanctuary, they would bow down and worship minus the dancing and shouting.

If we are to take David`s example of worship , then that means we also have to take his example of killing Bathsheba`s husband. (why do we criticize the latter and take on his praise codes.) David was a sinful person who made mistakes just like me and you do today.
We emulate only the good, not the bad.
We are actually in a spiritual battle
even though music plays a great part in giving glory to God I think we have to be careful that satan does not cause us to go over broad and in stead of bringing praise and glory to God through music we dishonor Him by the was we conduct ourselfs in His presents.
Well said, my brother.
.many people did it in time for the past decade...david dance after his victorious battle against enemy...elijah dance when the flame from heaven cast and consume the water won against the lord our enemy yet theres no recored that they have sinned after they dance....everything you do do it to glorify God.....if you think dancing can glorify God then do it....but sad to say some program of our church are influence by a wordly programs and some are use for entertainment not to glorify God anymore....
That's so true. Let's give God all the glorfy in all our performances.
yes david is a sinner but he is forgiven for GOD call him a man next to my heart....probably dancing is not relly good....but i guez swaying of arms or legs is just like dancing...and we can see that sometime if teres a concert...maybethey just expressing their emotions.........
