Just my own thoughts on the matter of salvation. . . . . .

The Bible says the wages for sin is death. Note it does not say the wages for your sin HAS TO BE your death. I've understood this to mean that the price to be paid for sin is death.

Here's my, albeit perhaps shaky, analogy. You go into the store and the *cost* for a loaf of bread is two dollars. Let's say somebody goes in and buys enough bread for everybody that comes to the store, yet, there's still some bread left on the shelf. So a person coming in can choose to either accept the gift of the loaf of bread that somebody bought for them, or they can choose to pay the price for their own bread. Either way, the price is paid.

It is the same with the death of Jesus on the cross. Because he was perfect, sinless, without blemish, Jesus, in His divinity was able and chose to bare the sins of all and pay that price of death. Now, until the return of Jesus Christ, there's still plenty of "death" on the shelf, so to speak, for those who choose not to accept the gift Jesus offers us having already paid the price of sin for us, they can choose to reject the gift and pay the price for sin themselves. Unlike Jesus though who was perfect, the price of death for the sinner is an eternal one if the gift that was paid for is rejected.

Hi Mark Thank you for your comment .. I agree with you that salvation is fair and straight.. but we have to explain how it works..after all this is the good news ... we have to preach it to the the whole world and we better be sure what we preach about..we cannot preach an unethical gospel...

let me share with this group what I have learned in scripture ..

A fundamental principle of all law, God’s or man’s, is that guilt or punishment cannot be transferred from the guilty to the innocent, nor can the righteousness of one person be legally transferred to another [see Deuteronomy 24:16; 2 Kings 14:6; Ezekiel 18:1-20].

So we must keep in mind that God too upholds this Law. He is a lawful and loving God or else He could have taken many short cuts in solving the sin problem Because He is omnipotent.. but he took the lawful way.

What we preach today is a vicarious substitution (one dying in place on another) which is not ethical in Gods law..

What took place at the cross is not one Man dying for all but we all died "in Christ " at the cross. On the cross, our corporate condemned life died eternally in Christ , 2 Corinthians 5:14 reads ..."For Christ's love compels us, because we are convinced that one died for all, and therefore all died."

In order for Christ to legally qualify to be our substitute and representative, His divinity had to be united to our corporate fallen humanity that needed redeeming. It is in the incarnation that these two distinct opposite natures were united together in one person and Christ became the second Adam. This is the in Christ motif, the central theme of Paul’s theology [1 Corinthians 1:30].

In the resurrection, God gave the human race the eternal life of His Son [1 John 5:11]. All that we are, as a result of the Fall, Christ was made at the incarnation; that through His life, death, and resurrection all that He is we were made in Him [2 Corinthians 5:17]. This constitutes the good news of the gospel.

I would like to hear comments on this subject from anyone interested ..

BY NATURE WE ARE:

1. Spiritually dead, but in Christ were made spiritually alive [Eph. 2:5]
2. Sinners, but in Christ were made righteous [2 Cor. 5:21]
3. Sinful, but in Christ were made holy and blameless [Eph. 1:4]
4. Condemned, but in Christ were justified [Rom. 5:18]
5. Sons of man, but in Christ were made sons of God [1 Jn. 3:1]
6. Hell bound, but in Christ were made to sit in heavenly places [Eph. 2:6]
7. Mortal, but in Christ were made immortal [2 Tim. 1:8-10]
8. Poor, but in Christ were made rich [2 Cor. 8:9]
9. Lower than the angels, but in Christ were made joint heirs [Rom.8:17; Heb.2:5-12]

hello Ruwanwijetunge! thats a beautiful comment.

I would like to give my opinion about it, based on my on understanding of the scripture.

first, the sin is eternal; only God can battle it and only through the death of His Son in the form of man can human beings be free from its bondage (death). sin have taken immortality from us and the death of Jesus is the payment for all human beings that existed and will exist in this world.

The law of land practice by human beings is so bias and deffective it is onesided and does not really gives sollution to everyone involve, it justifies mistakes of a real culprit while condemning the real innocent. its flaws are countless, which i think inappropriate to be compred to Gods law. while Gods grace is all out for human beings, it does not condemn anyone rather it assures all sinners of a full recompensation of their sins.

For Me, there's no logic about salvation, its fare and straight.

It has no condition only love Him and the rest will follow.

I Hope my points made little sense to your questions.

I have historically had a very difficult time with is the logic of salvation. Why does the death of my God give me eternal life? Why does it satisfy the death penalty imposed on me for my sin? The logic of American justice is completely contrary. When I was in law school, I was taught the old saying "It is better to let 1,000 guilty people go free than to execute one innocent person." Why would God have a plan in which the Innocent One is tortured and killed? How does this logically "add up" as payment for my guilt?
