The theory of gender equality in African churches is a matter of serious controversy. One the one and, some church members oppose it and question the real origin of the theory, whether it is of freemasonery or a real Christian issue. They confront the countries where these theories are highly valued with their increasing divorce rates and question the meaning of passages such as;

- Wives, in the same way be submissive to your husbands (1 Peter 3:1)

- Wives, submit to your husbands, as is fitting in the Lord. (Colossians 3:18)

- Wives, in the same way be submissive to your husbands ... like Sarah, who obeyed Abraham and called him her master. (1 Peter 3:1-6)

On the other hand, the new arising fashion is Africa demands that women cease to submit themselves to their husbands, since sexes must be viewed as equal. The people begin to question what roles must be accredited to women and which roles are for their husbands or if they should have the very same roles. They refer to the fact that, gender equality is no more a problem in Britain, France or elsewhere in Europe on the social level. They combat discrimination and require equal roles for husband and wife. Thus, they think that Africa must follow.

Meanwhile, Bible students still need to go further in comprehending the will of God in the light of the Bible.

It is true that in heaven there will be neither male nor female, that in the eyes of God, we are all equally precious in his sight.

28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.

29 And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise. Galatians 3:28-29

There is more to this than a woman being submissive. A man must love his wife and be will to self sacrifice for the good of his wife and family.   In the USA this is not the case. Women rule over men as do children.  Men are just a payday, someone to marry in order to have a life of comfort.

Isaiah 3:12

As for my people, children are their oppressors, and women rule over them. O my people, they which lead thee cause thee to err, and destroy the way of thy paths.

TV portrays the man of the house as a fool or a joke to be laughed at.   In households in the USA children must always have the best in entertainment and clothing without being taught the value of work and women demand it for their children at the expense of the man working so much that he has no time to teach the children at home.  Women in the USA do not even need a man all they need is a man's seed to become pregnant so that they can demand support and then they will be supported by the "baby daddy" and the government because they are the victim of a man having sex with them.

We need to follow God's word and praise him for the position and role he has given us.  Men love wives, give respect to women.  Women honor husband and treat them well.   Teach our children and raise them in the word of God.

Well Said Raymond, nice topic Abomo

Cultural downfall for men I am afraid, and women who demand everything and are never happy...

We break the 10th commandment, thou shall not desire...

too many of us desire far too much, never happy, and want more than they were born with,

this is our gender style of love

The greatest rest and happiness comes from waiting on Jesus and resting in him.  Tested and tried we learn how to wait and be satisfied with what we have.  I learned a bitter lesson as a young man when my wife at that time left me and two small children for a man who earned twice as much.  I earned good money but I had to quit and work a lower paying job to be home for my children.  I learned to forgive and move on and help other with the same problems.   What can feminist teaching add to our doctrine? Isn't the scriptures and all the promises God gave to women through out the Bible enough?  It would be an interesting study to look at the power and promises God gave to women but yet that is not enough  Promises to: Eve, Hannah, Ruth just to name a few.

A sad story, rich in God's leadings no doubt Raymond....we all get bashed and bruised

God does NOT cut and polish worthless stones for heaven

Happy Sabbath

Thank you for the kind words.  I wish the two grown children in that story would come to the knowledge of the Lord. Where there is life there is hope.

Amen and Amen!

What we see  with the Emancipation movement of women is not coming from the Bible, we smell the stench of  sulphur  around this issue.  The Bible speaks of equivalence not equality, and there is a difference.

Why can't we apply emphasis in exactly the same places where Jesus applies emphasis ?

ZJoutback, from reading other threads I understand you are a feminist.  Where do you find feminism in the Bible. God's commands are clear that we should love our neighbor.  Love our wife as we love ourself.  Does the feminist hold any responsibility to love and respect the man in her life as taught in the Bible and her children.  The teaching of the feminist is for self and that men and children is a burden and not a blessing from God. Sacrifice the child in the name of self and making love to a husband is rape.

I believe in treating men and women equally. Not sure about me being a feminist ? I  cannot tell you where you can find feminism in the Bible. What I can tell you is that the Bible and EG White says that in the garden of Eden God created man and woman equal in ALL respects.

Yes man and woman are equal. Is Christ equal to the Father?

Not sure how to answer that Jason.

All I can say is that at the time that God made the Sabbath He also created man and woman equal in ALL respects. Is the Sabbath still relevant today ?
