I believe that the Trinity is a Biblical doctrine, Stoney Kingdom.

I don't think any professed Christian would dispute the idea that the Father and the Son are separate 'People'.

The Father says to the Son, (in Hebrews chapter 1), "Thy throne of God is forever and ever" (Heb 1:8). So both the Father and the Son have the name, "God".

So there is at least a "Duality" in the Bible, isn't there? The Father is God, and the Son is God.

It is the nature of the Holy Spirit that is questioned.

D. M. Canright, wrote an article called “The Holy Spirit” in 1878. It was printed in the SDA paper, "The Signs of the Times", and represented a view that was still held by quite a few people.

“All Trinitarian creeds make the Holy Ghost a person, equal in substance, power, eternity, and glory with the Father and Son. . . . But this we cannot believe. The Holy Spirit is not a person. In all our prayers we naturally conceive of God as a person, and of the Son as a person, but whoever conceived of the Holy Ghost as being a person, standing there beside the Father and equal with Him?” (Signs of the Times (July 25, 1878)

And yet, the Holy Spirit is given the name "God" too.

When Ananias and Sapphira lied to the Holy Ghost (Acts 5:3), the next verse says that they lied to "God".

The Holy Spirit is God, the Son is God, the Father is God.

So in my view the Trinity is a Bible teaching -- even though the word "Trinity" is not used in the Bible or in the Spirit of Prophecy.

Correction to the verse I misquoted in Hebrews 1.

The Father says to the Son, "Thy throne O God is forever and ever" (Heb 1:8)

Hey Stewart, I think the  Holy Spirit certainly is  of God and from God but I don’t believe it to be a personage and part of the Godhead as the Father and Son; if it was, it also would have been mention in Romans 8:17.  1Corinthians 2:11 ask an interesting question, what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God.  I believe the Holy Spirit is the power of God, the essence of God that He sends out from Himself to accomplish His will.

The spirit of god is His mind, character and personality.

Yeah Will, I agree, I look at like this; the Holy Spirit is the essence of GOD which he sends forth out of himself to do the His work  in the believer and in the world. It is the power from on high that Christ speaks of in Lk.24:49; and this power manifest itself in whichever way is needed to perform the will of God. It can be comforter, our helper, teacher, it intercede for us when we don’t know what to pray, it empowers us to preach the gospel, it speaks to us and invokes us to move in its direction. It is not of the Godhead, it is God’s power.

But Peter said, "Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit and to keep back some of the price of the land? "While it remained unsold, did it not remain your own? And after it was sold, was it not under your control? Why is it that you have conceived this deed in your heart? You have not lied to men but to God."

THE HOLY SPIRIT IS A PERSON and GOD

  1. He speaks - 1 Timothy 4:1

  2. He intercedes - Romans 8:26

  3. He testifies - John 15:26

  4. He directs - Acts 16:6,7

  5. He appoints - Acts 20:28

  6. He can be lied to - Acts 5:3,4

  7. He can be grieved - Ephesians 4:30; Psalm 51:11

  8. He is called "God" - Acts 5:4

very good

Peter says in verse 9, that the Holy Spirit is the Spirit of the Lord (CHRIST). The Holy Spirit is CHRIST in you the Hope of Glory, it is not another "God".

The Holy Spirit is the Mind of GOD. It is CHRIST in you the hope of glory. The trinity was introduced into the church it was not taught by any of the Pioneers or by Sister White. It is a new thing that have divided our Savior. Sister White says that the Holy Spirit is the Omnipresence of CHRIST that is in every true believer. JESUS is the real SON of GOD and the Spirit is the Spirit of GOD, it belongs to GOD.

John 6:63 "It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life."

The Holy Spirit, is the WORDS that JESUS speaks: This is the LIFE of GOD and CHRIST that is given the Believer.

1 John 1:2 "(For the life was manifested, and we have seen it, and bear witness, and shew unto you that eternal life, which was with the Father, and was manifested unto us;)"

JESUS is the LIFE of the FATHER manifested Bodily. And JESUS will be manifest in the Believer as well. The LAW of GOD and the Holy Spirit is the Same: It is the Mind of GOD and JESUS manifests the Mind of GOD in us. JESUS is the Thoughts of GOD manifested.

Isa 28:12 "To whom he said, This is the rest wherewith ye may cause the weary to rest; and this is the refreshing: yet they would not hear."

The REST (SABBATH), and Sabbath more fully proclaimed is this: JESUS: Note verse 13: "

But the word of the LORD was unto them precept upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little; that they might go, and fall backward, and be broken, and snared, and taken."

The Rest is here identified as the WORD of the LORD (JESUS) Thus the believer is to rest fully in CHRIST and CHRIST are to be fully in us. Thus to say then that the Holy Spirit, the REFRESHING is someone else than JESUS is to not enter in to the Rest that is offered.

There is thus no need to make this more complicated than it has to. It is all about JESUS. :)

This doctrine teaches that Holy spirit is God as like what our own church of Sda teaches. Is this true because the Bible does not agree with that. These are amongst the fundamental beliefs of the SDA church.
The beast teaches the trinity.

The doctrine is from Babylon.

The scripture teaches one God who sent His only begotten son. Nowhere in scripture are we told that the Holy Spirit is God or a separate entity.

Will

Will,

Are the Father and Son separate entities, and do they both have a right to the name, "God"?
