Acts 5:3  But Peter said, Ananias, why hath Satan filled thine heart to lie to the Holy Ghost, and to keep back part of the price of the land? 4  Whiles it remained, was it not thine own? and after it was sold, was it not in thine own power? why hast thou conceived this thing in thine heart? thou hast not lied unto men, but unto God.

Here Apostle Peter says the Holy Spirit is God The text speaks for itself does it not?

It does speak for itself Ian.

The problem is that some will say that the words are not inspired so the writer of this book did not really mean what he said :)

Quite true @Defender but if you do not accept the words in the Bible as inspired, we have nothing left to prove anything, and maybe we better leave it to the Holy Spirit to do the convicting.

I wonder who would say that, but when looking at a text or a word you need to look at ALL verses. GOD is the FATHER (1 Cor 8:6, 1 Pet 1:3) verse 9 in Acts 5 declares that the Holy Spirit = The Spirit of the Lord (CHRIST), this is supported by Romans 8:9-11.

Please read those verses. :)

I don’t think anyone is suggesting that the Holy Spirit is not GOD; but that the Holy Spirit is not a personage of the Godhead.  The Holy Spirit doesn’t sit on the left hand of God while Jesus sits on the right. The Holy Spirit is God’s Holy present, his power, the very essence of him which emanates from him.  I think 1Corinthians 2 captures this quit clearly, saying this.

…these are the things God has revealed to us by his Spirit. The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God. For who knows a person’s thoughts except their own spirit within them? In the same way no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God. (that is within him)

I think the problem in not seeing the Holy Spirit as a person is that we try to fit God into a human body as we have and don't understand that there are evil spirits PLURAL but one Holy Spirit SINGULAR.

The Father spoke to us through His Son in these last days, as the Bible says and we are told in various places that God speaks to us through THE Holy Spirit.  The Holy Spirit also SPOKE through the prophet Isaiah:

"And when they did not agree with one another, they began leaving after Paul had spoken one parting word, "The Holy Spirit rightly spoke through Isaiah the prophet to your fathers,"

This idea that the Holy Spirit is not a person as the Son and the Father just shows that the Bible is not the guide.  He has all the attributes of God within Himself and is God as well.  Just because we don't understand how this can be does not prove anything is false with the Holy Spirit also being God.

The Son proceeded out of Him, which is the case as we are told, it does not mean that the Son did not always exist for He is the Word of God and "God's thought made audible".

There is no need to try and understand God.  Just follow the Word.  When the Bible says that there is ONE GOD, The Father and Jesus Christ, it includes both as God.  Just like if I said there are 1 black family that live in my neighbourhood, the FATHER and his SON.   Elohim is not singular but a union of more than one.

When Jesus came, we can look back at the OT and see that He is fact the one who came to earth as THE Angel of the Lord.  Now that the NT is written, we can see that the Holy Spirit is also a person.

My Father, My Son, My Spirit

These are all terms used by God.  God IS Spirit and does not have one inside his body somehow.  We agree that Father and Son are persons because we can relate but we do not relate to SPIRIT so we think it is not a person but that thinking is not in line with the Bible and it is supported also in the writing of the True Prophet Ellen Gould White :)

Deut 6:4: "Hear, O Israel! Yahweh is our God, Yahweh is one [Echad]!"

Genesis 2:24 "the two shall become one [echad] flesh" it is the same word for "one" that was used in Deut 6:4.

God is a unity of persons as husband and wife is.  If God was one person (singular), the word Yachid would have been used.

The holy Spirit is the Person of CHRIST himself brother.

He is the COMFORTER. :) Do a search on White Estates, JESUS Comforter, and you will find it to be so in the writings of dear sister White. :)

The Holy Spirit is not God it doesn't have any throne in heaven.

What is the Holy Spirit then?

Hello Mae,

  1. The Comforter that Christ promised to send after He ascended to heaven, is the Spirit in all the fullness of the Godhead, making manifest the power of divine grace to all who receive and believe in Christ as a personal Saviour. There are three living persons of the heavenly trio; in the name of these three great powers --the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit--those who receive Christ by living faith are baptized, and these powers will co-operate with the obedient subjects of heaven in their efforts to live the new life in Christ.-- Special Testimonies, Series B, No. 7, pp. 62, 63. (1905)
  2. The eternal heavenly dignitaries--God, and Christ, and the Holy Spirit--arming them [the disciples] with more than mortal energy, . . . would advance with them to the work and convince the world of sin.--Manuscript 145, 1901.
  3. We need to realize that the Holy Spirit, who is as much a person as God is a person, is walking through these grounds.--Manuscript 66, 1899. (From a talk to the students at the Avondale School.)
  4. The Holy Spirit is a person, for He beareth witness with our spirits that we are the children of God. When this witness is borne, it carries with it its own evidence. At such times we believe and are sure that we are the children of God. . . . The Holy Spirit has a personality, else He could not bear witness to our spirits and with our spirits that we are the children of God. He must also be a divine person, else He could not search out the secrets which lie hidden in the mind of God. "For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God."--Manuscript 20, 1906.
  5. The prince of the power of evil can only be held in check by the power of God in the third person of the Godhead, the Holy Spirit.--Special Testimonies, Series A, No. 10, p. 37. (1897) We are to co-operate with the three highest powers in heaven,--the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost, --and these powers will work through us, making us workers together with God.--Special Testimonies, Series B, No. 7, p. 51. (1905)

I am instructed to say, The sentiments of those who are searching for advanced scientific ideas are not to be trusted. Such representations as the following are made: "The Father is as the light invisible: the Son is as the light embodied; the Spirit is the light shed abroad." "The Father is like the dew, invisible vapor; the Son is like the dew gathered in beauteous form; the Spirit is like the dew fallen to the seat of life." Another representation: "The Father is like the invisible vapor; the Son is like the leaden cloud; the Spirit is rain fallen and working in refreshing power." {Ev 614.1}

Where is the verse which says we have to pray to the Holy Spirit, and where is the throne of the Holy Spirit?

Please Note, if you do not have answers to these questions, do not answer what is not asked because we waste time reposting what had been proved afore time.
