Welcome to Vegan, Raw & Naural Living Tess,

Look forward to your input.

I know I haven't been on for a few weeks to add more recipes/info, but will do so shortly.

Definitely will check out your web. Faith in action is all God asks, and I'm sure He will make amazing things happen.

A fruity fruit display

Fruity Flower Bouquet-- take a skewer, alternate between grapes and blueberries, and add a pineapple slice to top it off.

Thanks Sister , It's been a joy having this handy little machine :) ! And from the video I've been limiting myself .
I'm definitely eating a lot more raw vegan meals which is a pleasant change for the digestive system .

I'm a baker by "trade" lol no actually I'm a natural whizz at savory dishes but I'd like to expand on my baking knowledge

Ladies (and gents) can we share vegan baking tips , wonder ingredients , recipes and so forth ?

For example I've found a egg substitute recently made from Potato Starch,Tapioca Flour, Calcium Lactate, Calcium Carbonate and Cream of Tartar. I haven't used it in anything except lentil patties . And it's been great a real gem , since going vegan I've avoided baking recipes with eggs but not I'm ready !

I'd like to do a carrot cake or a banana loaf next !
Hope your all doing great where you are and zealous for Jesus
This Group has been a blessing to me and I hope it will be to others too .
Thank You All and have a lovely evening :)

Hi Bibi,

Sounds tasty.

'Arugula' - note that's what we in the UK know as 'Rocket' (mainly packaged/used in salads).

Spiral Slicer:

  • Glad to hear you are enjoying a new adventure in cooking! And trying various recipes.
  • Have been watching videos over time, and looking at buying one of these.  It is a great way of increasing the use of raw foods into our diet. Also, as we eat with our eyes first, the spiralised food items could really be presented in ways that are eye-catching in a dish or display of foods, as a way to encourage people, including children, to try them.
  • Looked it up, and here is a link to watching a video on the Benriner Cook Helper Slicer you refer to (given by raw foodist, John Koller, Discount Juicers, who I consider a reliable reviewer/demonstrator):
  • I did decide this week to invest in one, and hopefully make up my mind soon as to which. The Westmark Spiromat or new Gefu Spiralfix Spiral Slicer both seem interesting.  I will then try your recipe.
  • Your recipe Photos: I'm not that computer savvy, but if the photos are on your computer try: Press the 'Image' button which is next to 'LINK', then press 'Browse' which should connect you to your computer - Go to where the photos are stored, click on photo to upload, which will bring you back to here - Then press OK button, which should place your photo in here, the Comment box, so you can then 'Add Comment'.  Hope it works.

It's great that you are trying, and sharing.

Look forward to your photos.

Dextrinizing flour - where you brown the flour in a dry pan.

I also remember when LIGHT (Wildwood) did one of their courses, this was also done to Rice, before cooking it further with water.  Believe it helps for better digestion.

Dextrinizing process - For your info - Quote given from Askcom

"Dextrinization is a process where the thickening power of flour is reduced by heating the flour until it is brown. When the flour is heated, the starch in the flour is converted into dextrins. When these dextrins are dissolved in water, they have a sweet taste which is essential in baking."

Wow, what a treasure trove of vegetarian gravy recipes. Thank you so much. I am also wondering about fried zucchini. I know it's not good to fry foods, but I think I might have seen a few fried recipes here. I'm wondering what is a good recipe for fried zucchini. I know it's just a simple thing, but someone might be able to give me some tips on what to use for batter. I know the recipes you put up for Lemon French and other Dressings are great, but does anyone have any ideas for Ranch Dressing. I hate to make you work so hard, so don't be in a rush to put up any recipes for me. Even if you don't put any more up I won't mind. You have done so much already. I am so grateful.

Thanks so much

Thanks to everyone else who have put up recipes

Evening Everyone !!! And a lovely and warm welcome from chilly Cape Town , South Africa !

So I've just discovered spiralizers and they've revolutionized my meals . I got the Benriner Cook Helper Slicer and without cooking or heat it makes noodles from vegetables. Ingenious !!!

Ok here the first recipe I've mastered with it Creamy Garlic Alfredo with Zucchini Linguine

You will need

*6-8 zucchini, ( this was for 5 people and the zucchini were average in size) run through a spiral slicer.
*¾ cup cashews or a mixture of cashews, pinenuts, or macadamias
(soaked in water for 2 hours)
*¾ cup of fresh clean water
*2 cloves garlic... Or 1 but I prefer 2
*⅓ cup fresh squeezed lemon juice
*1 tsp salt
*½ Tsp fresh grated nutmeg
3 cups arugula

How to :
Drain the water from the nut mixture. Rinse nuts then add them to a high-speed blender. To then add water, garlic, lemon juice, pinch of salt, and nutmeg to blender.
Run on high, until the sauce is creamy. Taste and season with additional salt, and black pepper if desired
Pour sauce over your zucchini noodles. Mix in arugula just before serving.and Vuala ! Lol I hope that's how you spell it :)

I took pictures if anyone knows how I can attach them please let me know

Learning New things and enjoying my own creations a lot more . Well in all things let us seek to glorify Christ !
